Great game, Lester was awesome. I thought maybe they should pinch hit him in the 7th, but Farrell proved he made the right move, Lester was still ripping.

    1 more win!!

I can't wait. So much talent waiting in the wings. I am pulling for Blake Swihart, Sox never have good young catching.

Once Ross got the hit and put the Sox ahead 2-1 there's no way I would have ppinch hit Lester there, in fact even if Ross got out I probably would have let Lester hit in that spot only because Lester was at 69 pitches, was pitching great and the pen was pretty thin last night. It would have really been a no win situation for Farrell, but what ended up happening work out well in the end.

It will be interesting to see what the Sox do with Mookie Betts. Obviously Pedroia isn't going anywhere, you wonder if the Sox convert Betts to 3B or the OF if he's getting closer to ML ready. I'm most excited to see Cecchini personally now that Bogaerts will most likely be the starting SS in 2014.

Too bad the Sox don't really have a 1B prospect.

Maybe, you always draft the best player available, worrying about positions is silly.

Is it official Obama is going to the game? I heard he's in Boston to do a couple of speeches but there was speculation that he might go to the game too (because when would he ever pass up a chance to go to a sporting event instead of doing his "real" job, right?).

By the way I love the people who called into WFAN yesterday saying because Ortiz is batting over .700 in the WS he HAS to be on PEDs, and Francesa was even agreeing with them for the most part. I guess they missed the ALCS when he batted .091. I guess he took PEDs after the ALCS? That's how PEDs work, right?

And I'm not even saying he is or isn't using, the point is just because the guy is winning over .700 after 5 games shouldn't be a reason for thinking he may be on them or something. Just wish people, especially in the media would get that before throwing out accusations.

PEDs don't really affect if you can hit the ball or not...

So test him before the game. Case closed.

I wonder if he gets free tix or the tax payers are buying some 12,000 tickets each for him and his entourage. Maybe Jay-Z will go with him.

The Red Sox ownership group (and I'd assume all teams) always has seats and/or suites available to celebrities. He'd either sit right next to the Sox dugout, in the first row, in the owner's seats or be in a luxury suite on the 2nd level. I'd imagine just for security purposes he'd be up in a suite. And yes he'd get free tickets.

It's already going to be a security nightmare as it is tonight, I feel bad for the people there if he does show up.

I called a buddy (police type) up there who said that Secret Service is indeed performing advon security as we speak and has been, so he very well might be going.....it could also that they are doing due diligence in case he changes his mind......SS arent in the business of taking chances...

He might actually show up though, one thing I will say about Obama the guy is a sports nut.....

    Tonight's Red Sox line up:

    Ellsbury - CF
    Pedroia - 2B
    Ortiz - DH
    Napoli - 1B
    Gomes - LF
    Victorino - RF
    Bogaerts - 3B
    Drew - SS
    Ross - C

I like how the Sox decided to keep Ortiz hitting 3rd while dropping Victorino to 6th, although I would have batted Bogaerts 6th instead, since he's really struggled during the playoffs minus the grand slam.

    Fink,

I am in a debate with my buddy. 1st I don't think it is going 7 but if it does....who starts?

    Peavy or Doubrount?

I would probably start Peavy with Doubront being the first guy out of the pen if Peavy starts to get into trouble. Peavy has been a starter all during the playoffs while Doubront hasn't started a game since September 22nd. I wouldn't think Doubront would be able to go more than 2 or 3 innings in that situation if he started.

But even thinking about a Game 7 right now might make me have a heart attack.

Sad to say the Red Sox could actually improve next year with a deep farm and deep pockets. Wouldnt surprise me in the least to see the same two teams next year.

    2013 World Series Champions!

Unbelievable year and team. This was a true team effort, every night it was a new player/new hero. Ben Cherington built a very likable and very good baseball team. These guys did a great job taking it one day at a time and really since the first day of spring training the feel and vibe with this team was completely different, it wasn't about individuals, it was about the team. I could go on and go about the players and team, man so happy right now.

I really hasn't set in that the Sox have won 3 WS titles in the last 10 years, imagine telling someone after the 2003 season that.

Definitely a fun ride and I can't wait for 2014. When do pitchers and catchers report?

It's obviously way way early but the Cardinals are going to be scary good again next year especially if they put Carlos Martinez and Rosenthal in the rotation and upgrade at 3B, SS and CF.

Best thing about the Sox winning Alfredo Aceves will get a WS ring! He'll join Ramero Mendoza, Johnny Damon and Eric Hinske as the only players to get a ring with both the Yankees and Sox in the modern era. How great is that?

Also we probably have seen the last of Jacoby Ellsbury as a member of the Boston Red Sox but he was a very good player for the past 7 years and helped bring in 2 WS rings. Thanks, enjoy your big pay day you deserve it.

That is the big question and a valid one for sure. Sadly I think winning a Championship last night was the worst thing to happen in terms of retaining him...

They are going to have to make a tough decision on him real soon, that being, are they ready to cut him loose and let Bradley be the full time guy?

I'm sure a lot of people did. What a nut. I wonder if he'll ever pitch in the MLB again.

I think they will do a wait and see with Ellsbury. See what he wants and if it's reasonable, I'm guessing, they would try to resign him. But if he's looking for a big contract with a lot of years (which I'm sure he is and I don't blame him) I think you thank him and let him walk.
