.... and Matt Ryan w/o Julio Jones & Roddy White is a pile of steaming hot garbage. 13 points, 4 picks, and a 4.9 avg per attempt yesterday.
When healthy, the defense is good enough to win games. But the offense is just an inconsistent, limp pile of monkey crap. No killer instinct. We can't put any team away. We can't score consistently. We need a better offensive output, from the coaches down to every last player. 32 teams in this league have an excuse why they aren't better than they are. Shut up and win.
BTW, regarding the Packers last night: Jordy Nelson is a stud playing at an All Pro level. He caught 7 passes for 123 yards and 2 TDs, including a 76 yarder that was mostly all YAC, and the Packer ground game added 182 yards & 2 TDs which really took the stress off Rodgers by providing a balanced offense playing with the lead like we saw the first half against New England. Nelson's 2 TD first half performance plus Micah Hyde's punt return TD propelled Green Bay to a 24-17 halftime lead. Then, in the opening drive of the second half, Nelson converted back-to-back 3rd & 4th downs and Lacy rushed for 46 yards and a TD to make it 31-17. The following drive saw Starks rush for 49 yards with a 25 yard TD scamper. Plus, IMO, there's a different mentality involved when having a lead against Christian Ponder than Tom Brady.
Usually I'm pretty pessimistic, but I voted no. Really I'm leaning towards yes but want to reserve judgement until after Thursday night's game. A big win over what's looking more and more like one of the NFL's elite teams could give this team a turnaround. But another bad loss is the all but mathematical nail in the coffin.
We're so done the meat is falling off the bone. As the guy below says...
Here's hoping i can dig this thread up and finally prove what sorry ***, fairweather, phoney football fans many of you are......... The team's struggling mightily, no doubt. But we have quite possibly the most embarassing fanbase in all of sports. Lions & Browns fans make us look like *****y spoiled brats. I'm sure if things somehow change you'll forget you ever quit on your team and yourselves. It's easy to complain and throw in the towel until things get better. Real football fans act like men.
The Dolphins have one of the longest playoff win droughts in the NFL. And their 1 appearance since 2001 is probably also one of the worst streaks in the league. And during that span there were playoff chances that they choked away. Teams like the Cardinals have done more. So you can't blame Dolphins fans being pessimistic about this teams playoff chances, because they haven't proven anything. Dolphins can only afford to lose 3 more games, and its not often you see a Dolphins team go on a long winning streak. Factor in that our 2nd best WR behind Hartline is gone for the year and that doesn't exactly help morale either. Maybe now they'll start throwing more screens to Wallace? (how nice was that 3rd and long first down? Do it until they stop it, we didn't see another screen to him after that I don't think.)
More like $36M... we're only on the hook for Wallace for the tune of $27M for 2 years, with the option for the rest if we decide he is worth it... Wallace got $11M signing bonus and a base salary of $1M this season. He gets $15M next. After that, it's up to the GM.
are playoffs 'possible' ... sure, but ONLY if Tannehill can quickly learn some/any pocket awareness ... certainly not blaming the season thus far ON him ... but his unmistakable dearth of any pocket awareness has been a detriment to the team's success. The thing is, I'm not sure he can learn this at this point. I think otherwise, he would prove to meet everything else we need .... Right NOW, today - the only way we succeed with him is to almost exclusively go to 3 step drops with an occasional toss downfield, regardless of how the OL may or may not improve over the next couple weeks with McKinnie ... but that being the case, you might as well take Wallace off the field ....
This post is asinine. Anyone who still cares enough about this organization, after the joke of a run they've been on for the past 15 years, to be posting on this website is the polar opposite of a 'fair weather, phoney' fan. Tell that to the NE Dolphin fans that continue to show up to Gillette in droves every year to support the team and have been rewarded with what essentially amounts to an imperfect winning percentage in those tilts over the aforementioned period. The cast of characters changes every year but not the same pathetic and predictable result.
Is it over? I believe the direction of this program is over, and if not, then Philbin may soon be. This head coach has to realize, he sabotaged his chance at success the moment he naively hitched his wagon to Mike Sherman. If Philbin, during that rather distinguished opening speech, when explaining he would not be bringing the Packers playbook here, instead shared the fact he would be bringing Mike Sherman and the Aggie's playbook, along with his quarterback, his offensive line coach, and his son in law for good measure, all of which was being readied for our own exclusive use, it might have left some of us with a slightly different impression. Having quietly become The Sherman Show, history has shown, his is not a winning program from which to hitch a wagon. As for this season, I suspect if Philbin shifted roles, named Sherman Assistant HC./Sideline Figurehead, and personally assumed gameplanning, and playcalling duties, things might improve, but unlikely in time to save this season . Sherman likely prefers the view from this vantage point, and I doubt is interested in any role reversals.
The system is boring, predictable and not at all innovated. Philbin and the rest of this staff is getting owned every week with half time adjustments. They've lost me
To answer the OP question.............. I voted it's over, but I didn't think we were going to the playoffs this year anyway. To many new players for a run this year........IMO
Losing to Thad and the Bills, after a b-week, at home...why wouldn't anyones confidence be shaken. And no one asked, "hey lame-o's...are you no longer rooting for the Fins?" We're just talking about whether we think we can make the play-offs, and be competitive. If we were a good team, we'd have gone 2-2, if not 3-1 out of the last 4 games. We're in a bad place right now, and I will be rooting for us to win Thursday, but my hopes are low.
They gotta win the next two or it's over...I'm hoping for a revelation by all players, including our Qb, who needs to take matters into his own hands...ya hear.
Looking back what they did in few weeks, It's gone IMO. Another frustrated season...I'll just settle for the Heat...
I'm actually going to say no, because the schedule gets (relatively) easier in the 2nd half of the season and it's certainly not out of the question to go on a winning streak similar to what we did in '05. I still expect (hope?) the defense to take its game up another level. Offensively it's going to be a lot trickier, especially since there's no easy answers for the offensive line.
If we can somehow win Thursday night, and then we beat the Buccs on the Monday nighter... we are 5-4. But beating the Bengals is going to be really tough, especially without our best reciever.
Remember during the Falcons broadcast how many times Tim Ryan was saying teams that go 3-0 have a 75% chance of making the playoffs? And we won! In dramatic fashion. This thing was fixed....
I got a mile wide **** eating grin..... Wheres all the ..."we are gonna get crushed..no way we beat Cincinnati folks....."
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
I didn't see too many people saying that. I said we might beat them: after all, we have their number and I don't buy into Cincinatti as a true contender. It doesn't change the problems we have though. In fact, the game highlighted a lot of the problems we have on offense. I'm glad we won, but the offense played like crap most of the game. Even the one positive, the running game, was a mixed result due to Miller's fumble.
I'm a realist, we are not a playoff team, we are a working progress team but dam it feels good to be in competitive games every week, no matter how pissed i get that we lose.
Relief, hope, and life. No matter what people say, we have two pretty big signature wins in beating Indy and now Cinci. We also have an atrocious loss to Buffalo. The other losses (Saints @ New Orleans on MNF, New England at Gillette, and [although depleted] a loss to the reigning Super Bowl champs) can't be considered horrendous losses. Hate to keep going back to this, but when looking at how the schedule appeared at the beginning of the year, despite the four-game losing streak, we seem to right where even the optimists thought we'd be after a tough first half of the year... if we wanted to get to the playoffs.
We beat a team that smoked the Jets a few days ago....have to enjoy that! Even though we won, I'm still not sold on this team.
They beat the Pats too. I didn't expect the Dolphins to win after the way they blew the Bills and Pats games so it was a pleasant surprise. It's probably going to take a 6-2 second half to get that second wildcard. I don't see it but hey who knows, maybe there will be a pleasant surprise around the corner.
I don't know if I voted or not, but I still have no faith just yet. We still have 8 games left and I'm still hoping for the best.
It may not be over but I don't think the problems that cost us four losses have been solved entirely. And looking at some team rankings And stats tonight I feel like Miami's true level is around 15th in the league. Just outside playoff caliber, but we may get lucky and slip. I if a few things break our way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I think Joe realizes that he doesn't have the personnel he needs to have the kind of team he wants and is now committed to winning with the team he has so we'll see a lot more running, dink and dunk, interspaced with one or two verticals from now on. Also believe, if he is still our HC at the end of this season, we'll see a lot of turnover, both staff, FO, and players.
