Kind of excited for Rishard Matthews to finally get a big opportunity.

But also wary, because there were some things in the review of the game that made me think he was not making hot route adjustments based on the blitz...and that was something that kept him Inactive for most of 2012.

Also, you just want to see the guy finish more plays. He didn't finish that beautiful sideline catch yesterday. I know it was a tough play but if he wants to be that kind of player he needs to finish that play.

Right now with Brandon Gibson set to come off the patellar tendon injury, I think you have to be of the mindset that in the off season you're looking hard at that wide receiver position and figuring out how to re-structure it.

I'm damn near ready to raise the white flag on Mike Wallace.

I think the big dog in this passing offense needs to be an inside-outside player. It needs to be a Marques Colston, Randall Cobb, Victor Cruz, etc. You want that player to be as smart, as good a route runner, as sure-handed, and as physically dynamic as you can afford to make him...because Ryan Tannehill clearly prefers to lean on this type of player.

The reason I'm in the market is because with the seriousness of Gibson's injury and the importance of the role, I don't know that you can just trust that Gibson nails it down next year.

Gibson's loss hurts a lot. I was really enjoying watching him play. The dude just got open and made big plays for us.

Get well Brandon, I'm excited to see you makes plays for us again next year.

As for his replacement. Matthews intrigues me as well. Just something about him that makes me believe he can be a weapon for us

When Gibson was getting carted off he looked at some Dolphins fans sitting a few rows in front of me and gave them the thumbs down. He knew it was over right there. Sad news. I really liked his play.

I hereby retract what I said earlier about Rishard Matthews not being able to finish plays. Joe Philbin really needed to challenge this one.

I think he wouldn't have had a problem what so ever finishing that play if it wasn't for the exact spot the defender was. I also think Philbin needed to challenge the play.

Without another angle, I don't think they could have reversed the call. You need to be able to see if the right foot touches down.

That's not an aqua colored banana sticking out from that defensive player's right hip. I'd say this single snap shot is actually conclusive evidence, provided Matthews controlled the football the entire time and never bobbled it.

Matthews did finish that play on the sideline. He got both feed inbounds and it was ridiculous the guy in the booth didn't tell Philbin to challenge it.

I'm told Dolphins are exploring putting claims on other team's practice squad WRs. Chad Bumphis, who is with Denver, is a possible target

Did anyone watch Philbin's press conference? Some of the people in the media are unbelievable. Telling Philbin his role with the team.

ref wouldn't have seen it on replay. That angle is not conclusive with regards to his left foot being actually ON the ground.

edit, meant to say right foot.

With the loss of Gibson and the lackluster play of Wallace, this remaining receiving corp doesn't appear to be any better than what Tannehill had in 2012. Gibson at least was a reliable receiver in the slot and he knew how to get open in the end zone.

Right now Hartline is once again the most reliable WR on the roster and that wasn't what was suppose to happen when millions of dollars was spent in the off season to upgrade the WR position. I sure wish Bess was still with the team. He would have been an excellent 4th WR on this roster and he could easily step in for Gibson at this time. I just don't think Matthews is going to make anyone forget about Gibson.

I'd much rather roll with Matthews than Bess right now.

Yup. I stand corrected. That pictures shows conclusive proof.

Still a little worried about the possibility he wasn't making his adjustments to the blitz.

Why don't they put Wallace in the slot and let him run, with Matthews going outside? Seems like it might make better use of Wallace.

TBH, I wouldn't have challenged it either. Not because I don't think he wasn't in-bounds.... but considering the referees' shoddy officiating yesterday, I don't think they'd overturn it.

Yeah, I hear you. I saw a couple times, especially on an out route where he didn't adjust. But then again I also saw him point out a blitzer to Tannenhill and adjust perfectly.

I would honestly heavily factor him into the gameplan. We haven't had a wide receiver like him in a loooooong time. He's like a mini Brandon Marshall.
