The Jets have more wins than the Dolphins do. The difference generally between winning and losing teams is coaching. I know everyone loves to hate Rex Ryan but to be .500 with what he's got is pretty impressive. The Dolphins on the other hand....
The PI call on Wilson gave the patsies their first possession on our side of the field. Wilson got to the ball b4 the reciever ran in to him. Worst Pi call EVER
He swiped at the ball. Typically when you dive on the ball you put your hand on top to trap it in the ground so it doesn't move. Look there were some bad calls against us but I don't think for one second its the reason we lost. You can talk to opposing fans of losing teams and they will point plenty of bad calls that went against them. When your team loses typically zero in on the refs rather than the team itself. Were seeing this coaching staff isn't very good.
Even if he had come at it from above, he barely would have gotten his fingertips on it and it still would have bounced away from him and the call would have been the same. It looked more like he misjudged how fast the ball was moving away from him and he thought he could gather it in.
maybe the most sensible thing I've read today. when the pressure hits, the team overall does not do well. that's partially on the coaching staff, specifically Mike Sherman. When the patriots are blitzing on every passing down, you need to adjust.
correction, they didn't call the unnecessary roughness b/c Tannehill isn't Tom Brady. Bet your *** that would've been flagged if the hit was on Tommy boy.
But he swiped at it because he couldn't recover it so maybe a teammate could recover it. Chalk it up for not knowing the rules.
you need new eyes, BK. Firstly, if he had dove "on the ball" why would he swipe at it? He didn't dive on the ball; he dove FOR the ball with an outstretched arm and a guy on his back. I'm not sure I've ever seen a defender attempt to put his outstretched hand ON TOP of a football to secure it rather than try to pull it in to his body.
I am with Paul i am done. Maybe watch here and there but NFL will NEVER EVER get another penny from me As far ad calls go you knew that was happening goodell bends over n let's kraft give him a goof rodgering every week
That's bologna. He swiped at it b/c it was within reach and thought he could pull it in and recover it, which obviously isn't an easy task with a 320 pound lineman on his back and the ball loose on artificial turf. There was nothing about his effort that showed conclusive intent to push the ball backward to earn the flag.
I'm still angry. They literally called a penalty on us for trying to recover a fumble. "Wait, number 50 tried to recover that ball! Throw a flag!" And no, I don't think we lost because of the refs, but it definitely helped the Pats quite a bit.
FWIW, I'm gonna say this from my own personal experience back in my pitching days. I'm typically calm & collect under pressure, damn near unflappable. I could walk the bases loaded down by one run or pitch in front of 125 pro & college scouts in the Florida Senior Showcase Tournament and be completely unscathed by it; however, put an ump behind the plate who repeatedly screws me on calls and I can tell you that's the ONLY thing that ever got in my head.
I'm not a fan of blaming ref's. But there are certain times when the blame lies directly on them 1. Blowing a call at the end of a game when a team doesn't have time to recover 2. Putting too many points on the board for a team Today they did #2. Most NFL games are decided by less than a TD. The Ref's the equivalent of 2 TD's on the board for the Pats. We could have played better, we could have not collapsed, but it is asking too much for a team in the modern day NFL to come up with 13 points from the Zebra's. ESPECIALLY on the road against a division rival. It's pathetic. And it need to be addressed. Fans around the NFL have to start demanding accountability. I don't care if the calls start getting made by people watching a television in a booth. It has gotten THAT bad. When everyone at home can see Wake get tackled, that there was no PI, etc. etc. you need to do something. We're not stupid, we have technology. The NFL needs to use it. I'm all for sending cinder blocks to Goodell's office for this kind of ridiculousness. This is the worst officiating I've seen since the Seahawks Steelers SB. That was a rob job just like this.
Why would he want to pin it to the ground at arm's length? He was trying to reach it to pull it into his body.
BK is a good poster, he's just one of those dudes who go out of their way to be called "objective". He's not alone
The worst thing for a pitcher is an inconsistent home plate ump. When an ump has a specific strike zone he needs to maintain it. No 2 umps are exactly alike, some have narrow strike zones, some have wide, some have low, etc. But just don't have a moving strike zone.
Then they are wrong 90 % of the time. IMO , the replay clearly shows he did not attempt to bat it forward , although that is indeed what happened. Legitimate effort by OV to recover the ball , he/we should not have penalized for that.
I'm right behind you Paul. The NFL is almost as bad as the NBA. I've never seen it this bad. Those calls were a giant apology to the Pats for last weeks (legit) controversial call that went against them. And we all thought it was the Pats that would come out in a blazing fury, it was actually the refs!
I am right with you there, I actually clicked on the Phins by accident just now while opening up a new tab, but earlier after that third completely bogus call which was the final nail that the refs slammed in our coffin, I turned off the TV and shut down NFL.com and the Phins, I will still watch my canes and thank god Liverpool is playing well. NBA starts up soon so hopefully the Heat and the Wolves will keep me occupied. Was able to get a lot of yard work in though this afternoon which was a positive that the wife will appreciate...
Does this mean we will get the rigged refs on Thursday as sort of a "Sorry about that, but you know Brady has to win....Dalton on the other hand? You know what? We'll give you guys that one for being such good sports and not challenging any call Sunday!" -Signed, the collective a$$-end of the NFL.
yup, and if you're a finesse pitcher who routinely works the corners and the ump suddenly takes it away, it can be rattling.
I disagree. We routinely see fumble recovery attempts unsuccessfully bounce off fingers without a flag being thrown.
What play were you watching? He was trying to bring it back to himself and hit it instead, there has to be intention to make that call. That was a terrible subjective call that had a big impact on the game. I'm shocked anyone could actually watch that play and come to the conclusion you did, I mean it was so obvious that he was trying to bring it in the motion in his arm was trying to curl around the ball and bring it in, not swat it. Honestly I don't know what to say sometimes on here.
I am with you there, on all the replays there was never an attempt to swat the ball away. That was the motion of a person diving while trying to sweep in a bouncing ball, and it caroms off him. Bogus ****ing call, and par for the ****ing course.
Dude, you're a LFC fan too? You know we might be twins... you might be my doppelganger. Both Dolphin fans... both named Paul (right?).. both transplants from England (1980 moved here), both LFC fans. Damn LFC is killing it so far. Might just make top 4 this season and perhaps keep Suarez from bolting.
BTW, haven't been watching anything this afternoon. Has any of the post game shows even discussed the referees in our game? I doubt it right....
The Oline gave up after the calls. What's the point? The Mental aspect was stripped. The defense sacks Brady and causes a fumble and he gets flagged for what!!? illegal batting the ball? Since when is trying to recover it illegal? That ref needs to be investigated. He was paid off ......of the NFL did the thumbs down on the Dolphins.
What buch of ****ing bull****! with this horrible officiating I thought I was watching soccer. This crap is just unreal.
Here is today's crew and their hometowns. Maybe you can track them down. #66 Walt Anderson, Sugar Land, Texas, 18 yrs, Referee #44 Jeff Rice, Ft. Myers, Fla., 19 yrs, Umpire #22 Steve Stelljes, Derby, Ky.,12 yrs, head linesman #18 Byron Boston, Humble, Texas, 19 yrs, line judge #82 Buddy Horton, Tacoma, Wash., 15 yrs, field judge #72 Michael Banks, University Park, Ill., 12 yrs, side judge #2 Billy Smith, Miramar Beach, Fla.,2 yrs, back judge
Sometimes, maybe a lot, especially in the post season, when we are wondering how and why the managers set their order a certain way, I'd bet the check to see who is going to be behind the plate for each game and if you got a junk ball pitcher, you would prefer he pitch when the ump with a historically generously wide strike zone is working the plate. If I'd see an ump who calls them a little tighter, I'd be more comfortable with someone pitching who relies more on heat.
