Does Ireland and Philbin attempt to make a trade to salvage the season (at this point we are only allowed 2 more losses) or do they begin unloading for draft picks, or do we go to Thursday Night with the same team?
Id say we should be looking to make some moves. The Gibson loss is going to be huge for us I think. There's some WR's available (Nicks, Britt, Fitzy(possibly), and Josh Gordan). I bet we roll into Thursday with the same roster though. Maybe a new WR on the practice squad or something though. Big changes like that mid season dont seem to be Irelands thing, or Philbins for that matter. Im still surprised we finally pulled the trigger on the McKinnie deal. Id also try and move Starks, and re-sign Soliai. Odrick is proving that one of the two is expendable at DT
I wish the trade deadline was next week and not this week, I rather see the result of the Cincinnati game before a decision is made, but after 4 straight losses I think we have an idea of how it will end though Ireland and Philbin (both trying to save their jobs), are not going to pack it in, so I doubt they try to pick up draft picks. I would love to get something for Wallace, I don't think he fits but the problem is we would have a cap hit with that so I have accepted the fact he's here to stay for 2 more seasons after this, thanks Ireland. There's other players on the roster that might be of value to other teams, players we might not re-sign in the offseason. But I think it's more realistic that we trade for a star player rather than we trade away some of our own cause as I said, Philbin and Ireland are going to try to keep their jobs. Ross may step in and veto a trade though.
Trading Wallace and taking that hit this year would be a fairly smart move but they wouldn't have the balls to do it. You would have the money next year to sign a LT and then draft a speedster in the 3rd or 4th round plus sign someone else. Easy move really.
That's not happening while Jeff Ireland's in the building. I think it's fairly safe to say at this point that he whiffed on the 3 big signings this year - Wallace, Ellerbe, and Wheeler.
This is what will make this season so scary, and if they do try something desperate will that be enough to get Ross to finally pull the trigger on Ireland ?
I think we need to replace Gibson... but that's a tough thing to do in the middle of the season. Build chemistry quickly in how Gibson had it with Tannehill. Maybe Blackmon from Jacksonville. a couple of conditional picks if he can stay out of trouble.
I honestly say sell of anyone of any worth. Only untouchables....Tannehill, Jordan, Wake, Odrick. Pouncey.
Why spend a 2nd round pick on a receiver who is a high Tannehill pass away from a season ending knee injury?
Add Hartline, Clay, Fields and for now Miller/Thomas. Dump Wallace on some unsuspecting fool asap, if possible...
I thought about Hartline. Just due to the chemistry with Tannehill. But I honestly do not think any of those players are really above replacement. Well Fields may be the best punter in the NFL, but if someone wants to trade for a punter go ahead.
Sell! Sell! Sell! Starks to NE or Indy for a 2nd. Olivier Vernon to San Diego for a 3rd. Matt Moore to the Eagles,Rams or Chicago for a 4th. Tannehill to the Eagles or Browns for a 2nd. Clemons to ? for a 3rd. Nolan Carroll for a 6th. Incognito for a ??
Trade everyone for picks and draft "Impact" players only! We don't need any good offensive linemen. We run a WCO which uses 3 steps drops and it means we get the ball out quick. If we draft another offensive lineman in the first round I'm going to quit! .......... I'm being sarcastic! AND I'm pissed off!
Doesn't matter. One bad performance should not get you canned at his position, his stats and his tenure. If that were the case Sturgis doesn't have a chance of remaining kicker.
If he's available it's an automatic trade. McKinnie is plenty good enough. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
If there's a good deal, I'd love to see the team try and take it but otherwise I don't know if there are any huge solutions out there.
Outside of an can't miss acquisition like a Josh Gordon, I can't think of a move I'd really make. Maybe a third corner but who's available? Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
Jesús Christ Tapatalk, wtf did you do to my post? How did you quote a post not in this thread? This app is garbage. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
I cant say Josh Gordon is a cant miss acquisition. He's got tons of talent, yes, but he's also got tons of issues. Isn't he one strike away from a year suspension, or am I thinking of someone else? That being said, if he can stay in line, he'd be a nice addition. Especially with Gibson down.
Gordon is really unrealistic, don't see Cleveland trading him. It's a pipe dream just like Fitzgerald is a pipe dream as well. Don't want anyone to vomit on my post but the realistic IRELAND move, is a trade for the welcome back party Davone Bess.... I mean you guys are saying let's replace Gibson with a legit #1 receiver when Ireland is thinking, let's bring Bess back.
Something for nothing, cuz that's what we'd be getting, nothing for a 3rd or better.. We will be perceived as a desperate team looking for a quick fix... No thanx, live and die with what we got...
Yea not to mention that if Tannehill isn't the answer that means the Ginger is 0-3 on drafted QB's, which is more than enough failure to warrant being fired. At this point there is literally no case for Ireland to keep his job, he's cheated death enough times, his dismissal is long overdue.
Honestly I'd rather they not do anything drastic. They've done enough to this roster. I don't want them further hamstringing the next regime. - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
Missed the game today due to a violin recital at 2 o'clock that was 45 minutes away. Managed to catch the halftime report and convey it to my wife who is a NE fan. Man I was ready to gloat, celebrate, whatever. Anyway, what happened to Gibson? Reading stuff that makes me think he is injured.
