Is there anything else out there aside from the McKinnie trade that could help Miami? I notice the Texans just released RB Cierre Wood, DE Sam Montgomery and OLB Willie Jefferson. I'd be highly interested in Wood and Jefferson. Jefferson had a history of drug positives at Baylor, just as a FYI. But he's an extraordinary athlete for the position.
I just remembered who Sam Montomery is. Wow guy went from potential 1st round pick, to 3rd round pick, to cut.
8 days left in the trade window. If Ellerbe's injury is long term, might see a play for a 2 down backer to man the middle. How panicked will Jeff Ireland get knowing that if we don't make the playoffs he's likely history. 3 and 0... to 3 and 3 can test ones patience certainly.
After the game yesterday, I said we have to start another person at RT. I would rather put a TE there. I'm glad we're doing something.
How about something simple? Re-sign Jorvorskie Lane or some other competent fullback who at the very least can be counted on to convert 3rd and inches
Picked up Julian Thomas on a small league but was lazy to grab him in my big dynasty league. Felt stupid! But two weeks ago grabbed Jordan Reed and now feel like a genius. Fred Davis was a healthy scratch this past game. He's had his chances. Not sure he's even worth the time at this point. Some people never get it. I think Fred Davis is one of those, but I could be wrong.
He's a guy a lot of us wanted, but I know nothing of his rehab or what has been going on with him. I would consider it though. Only 27
I'd love to add James Casey. MLB could be a problem, Trusnik did okay, not great yesterday. Other problem, and it's a large one all 3 units failed, coming off of a bye week.
Coyle's over his head. I thought the special teams were fine. They put us in position to win the game. Sure, our kicker missed one (a long one) but that happens.
Don Jones boneheaded play as well, all 3 units had their worst game of the year at the same time. This is why Philbin MUST review how he is doing things because that team was unprepared to play Sunday D gave up two long third down conversions and could not keep Buffalo from eating clock after the fumble Offense could do nothing with the great field position Thigpen and Co gave it. It was a mess.
What about the Bears? Do they have players we need? Matt Moore all of a sudden becomes a precious commodity.
Jones is a rookie who made a mistake. Forgivable. What made it so bad was that Fields next kick was nowhere near as deep and they ended up getting the ball at midfield. Agree on the other points. Also, listened to part of the Bills HC conference. He specifically mentioned that his offense couldn't get a rhythm going and only seemed to be able to convert 3rd downs. They converted almost 50% of their 3rd downs (47.3%) going 9 of 19... That really sucked as our D should have been blowing them up, but missed numerous tackles and allowed the Bills receivers to make down field plays. Inexcusable against a team as bad on offense as this and Dion Jordan STILL needs more playing time. The guy makes positive things happen. Get him on the field when it matters.
How many rules does special teams player have to remember? That play equated to knowing not to block from behind and there was no excuse. What made it worse was the ball would have rolled deeper if his dumbass wouldn't have touched it then.
I think the Dolphins have the offensive talent. I do question how they are used. That falls on Sherman. And on Philbin as the head man. If I were Ross I would have questions along those lines. Talent plus coaching plus adjustments equal win vs. loss.
We failed to execute in all 3 phases. Offense, Defense, and Special teams. That gaff was either on the Coach, or the player not knowing the rule. A rookie gaff on ST didn't cost us the game - that would have been the defense allowing almost 50% of 3rd conversions and the offense turning the ball over 3 times. Total team failure.
This is true, BUT the problem that can be fixed is Offensive Line play, that is the closest, most crucial problem we face coming off of these 3 losses. Don Jones did not miss a FG for example, Clabo did not allow several 3rd and Long conversions, this was systemic failure that I've not seen from a Philbin Coached team. Shula would run these guys until they puked, and would have certainly benched or waived guys if he could find better replacements quickly.
I'm only responding to your ST comment that the mistake is forgivable, not if it caused the loss. As has been mentioned there is enough blame to fill everyone's plate.
You think if we don't make the playoffs Ireland is fired? Well I don't think we make the playoffs , do you? However I don't think he gets fired unless we entirely implode.
Hopefully Ross stops any further trading of draft picks by Ireland in an attempt to to save his job. McKinney isn't going to be worth the late round pick the Dolphins just gave up for him. The next GM should have as many draft picks available to him as possible. Ireland had all off season with plenty of draft picks and lots of salary cap money to fix the holes on this team. He did a lousy job in fixing these holes and allowing him to give up 2014 draft picks to continue to show how inept he truly is, makes no sense at all.
I'm not in a forgiving mood and the state of the Phins is only 1 reason why. If this team does not reach 10 wins this year, and it doesn't look like it will happen, I will be disgusted.
