League started yesterday! Right now Im getting ready to watch the Avs/Ducks game! Thinking about getting the NHL gameday, $150 for the season, 140 if you get it before the 31st. Or you can do 8 payments of $18.99, which I may opt to.

    Lets Go Islanders!

We need some of the young players like Matt Donovan and Brock Nelson to contribute early and often to make up for losing Streit. Pierre Marc Bouchard is an upgrade on Brad Boyes if hes healthy. Im interested to see if Josh Bailey will improve on last years .5 ppg clip. If he can be a 50-60 point guy he will finally start living up to the potential he showed when the Isles traded down 2x in 2008 to get him. And it will be interesting to see if Kyle Okposo can finally stick on JT's RW. JT and Moulson have been looking for a RW for a few years now and JT hasnt had the same RW 2 years in a row in what is now year 5. Most of all, the NYI were bottom 3rd in every major goalie stat (GAA, Save %, SHO, etc). Poulin and Nabby or someone yet to be traded for have to make sure thats better.

Same issues as every year vs. Leafs. 1/7 on the PP is not going to cut it. Can't get the pucks out of our own zone. Passes into their zone are sloppy. 5 on 5 hockey is not so great.

    Go Flyers

Hes a tremendous offensive player but by the ASG last year he had become a liability in his own end. Hes lost a step but hes a solid PP guy and he has tremendous passing ability. We didnt need another puck mover, we needed more physicality hence Donavan and Griffin Reinhart getting a chance. Our prospect pool on D id stack with anyones. Its deeper and better. Thats what happens I suppose when you finally start drafting well after sucking for so many years.

I cant wait for strome also. Hes fast and his skillset is similar to Marty St Louis. His D needs work but hes progressed to where hes working at center and wing.

Goaltender may be what holds nyi back. The farm system is loaded but we need to trade for or sign a goalie. We cant make real noise til that happens.

And yeah Grabner basically stole that game for nyi. 2 goals and an assist. He might be the fastest skater in the league. He just made the devils looks silly a few times.

    come on Flyers!

Can't clear the zone, committing too many penalties, not generating much offense..

I know Columbus has improved but when the Isles are up 2-0 after 2 periods thats a game I expect to win. Even though it was a shootout loss thats still a point I wanted. :(
Good to see Tavares back to his usual butt kicking ways

i swear to god there was a legitimate case to be made for a columbus penalty on both goals. on the first an islander gets hooked in front of the net and on the second someone came crashing into the islander (watching in bar..not sure who) that caused the goal off the islander. **** it. at least we got one point. agreed though. it shouldnt have come that close regardless

But I don't think he's the real issue..

Lavalamp keeps getting the shortest straw. It happened with NYI, Carolina and now Philly. Theres got to be something behind the scenes with this guy and a reason teams stop responding to him after a year or 2. On the surface he seems like a pretty good coach.

Anytime the Flyers, Rags or Penguins lose thats almost as good as the Isles winning. So no, you cant get a win tonight. :)

If you like chip and chase hockey, unable to clear your own zones, horrible power plays, and decent penalty kills...

How dare you lump us in the same category as the Penguins FFS

Think the hiring of Roy was the right choice so far. Loved his emotion at the end of game one. Gotta protect your players.

They are for real, early. Long way to go. Don't like their defense, especially over a long season.

Up front they are so fast though and it's helping their defense.

And we're back to blowing late leads vs terrible teams like Buffalo :(

Still need a goalie. Until we get one Im not declaring us "back". Nabby is a good backup at this point but a starter on a playoff team that wants to get past the 1st round he is not imo.

Checking in. Flyers continue to disappoint. There are too many issues to list, IMO. On the positive side.. the goaltending looks semi-decent, yet the defense in front folds and our offense is non-existent to the point of a franchise worst. It's not a good time to be a Flyers fan, and before anyone here says "When is a good time to be a flyers fan?!" I'm just gonna go ahead and cut that off right here and now...

Tavares has scored in 6 straight games (all of them since the opener vs NJ). Isles with a nice win tonight vs Edmonton where they played solidly except for a 8 second stint where Taylor Hall potted 2 goals in 8 seconds (fastest 2 by an Oilers player...beat Gretzky's record by 1 second). Visnovsky and Bailey played really well

It will be a miracle when this team scores 3 goals in a game. They're competitive for the most part, but they can't score for the life of them.

I enjoy the fact that goaltending has mostly been okay. I am tired of the feeling of not having a solid man in net for years since Hextall. We have had some good - really good goalies come into the net, but not a whole lot, and none with the stability that Hextall provided for the length of time he provided.

I also think McGinn is playing lights out, Rinaldo is making people he checks his *****, and that's really all I can think of right now off the top of my head. I don't like how the team has been skating slow. I don't like how we still have trouble clearing zones, we do the chip and chase bit and it is great when it works, but is very frustrating to me when it doesn't. We also have trouble coming up the ice in numbers and often have trouble getting through the neutral zone. I like Streit, actually, come to think of it, and think we need that sniper bad on the blue line.

I also don't like when we're out hit. That's our job not theirs.

    Also: defense is "not bad".

yeah. i agree. too many breakdowns defensively. offense is nice but we cant seem to get out of our own way defensively for certain stretches
