setting out for D.C. in half an hour. will drive straight through & hook up with fellow veterans in the morning. I ask for your prayers that all will go well. I am a life long member of the DAV & VFW. served with the 23rd. infantry during the 68-69 TET Offensive & will enlist my services to help those too old or maimed to defend themselves.

rainy, overcast & unnoticed? was disappointed in the lack of media interest & total indifference of the Commander in Chief. having said that, it was a very intense & emotional experience. will not burden you with my opinionated libertarian politics, however, this President should be impeached & term limits placed upon the Congress.

a glimmer of hope: looks like the veterans are not giving up with this dysfunctional debacle & will pursue the issue with vigor. neither my VFW or DAV were even aware of the million veteran march until the day before it happened. there was a total lack of communication at most every level. everyone was very upset at the disorganization of the event & missing an opportunity to express their first amendment rights. everyone & every conversation was about taking the shameful behavior by our indifferent, military-hostile Commander in Chief & self-aggrandizing Legislature (that is decimating our Constitution & American way of life) to task. it appears that they have only begun to fight.

    I appreciate your service.

That doesn't make you on the right side of this issue however. Your guys (libertarians/Tea Party Repubs) are the ones that shut down the memorials, not the POTUS. Those memorials are part of the government shutdown. The right has basically dropped a fly into their soup and are trying to blame the restaurant.

the Libertarians are not the Tea-Party, nor are they the Republican party. as for the right side of the issue, I simply believe in the Constitution & Bill of Rights. I don't see how that could be wrong.
having said that, I will tell you what I tell my children & the many young people I come in contact with... my time is over, but your time is beginning. defend yourself. it is not about me, it is about you. you're the one that will ultimately pay with your blood, treasure & freedom. govern yourself accordingly. get involved. the bigger the government the lesser the citizen.

you don't have to appreciate my service. I had little choice in the matter & would not do it again if there were a re-do. all I ask is that you respect & consider my opinion.

being a Vietnam Era veteran, maybe I am over-sensitive about how this country has ****ed over their military & continues with the disrespect. be it as it may, I will continue my unwavering support of them & our Constitution until my demise. you are welcome to & have every right to your opinion. however, when we lose these people and/or our written Constitution, we lose the country. this is my opinion & after nearly 66 years of life & studies, it is irreversible. the ball my friend, is in your court. your generation will have to shoulder this responsibility & pay the consequences for your actions... good luck!

impeaching a president or suggesting is never a viable or realistic solution no matter what side of the fence you sit on. Now, the idea of shorter term limits of congress is an excellent one, but since they regulate it, don't see that happening either.

The libertarians are absolutely aligned with the Repubs and the Tea Party on this issue.

Also, I'm not telling you you're wrong for your beliefs and anger of the way vets have been treated. I agree with you. I also agree with you that the memorials should be open. I'm just explaining to you the FACT is that Obama is not the one that shut them down. This shutdown is entirely the fault of the House Republicans, which include libertarians and the Tea Party.

hubris & prejudicial. please do not confuse fact with opinion. Libertarians are not Republicans, nor are they the Tea Party. they usually vote according to their priorities. not too many Libertarians running for elected office that actually stand a chance of winning.
in my book, not any difference between a liberal republican or conservative democrat. if the truth were known/understood, the Libertarians are the true liberals within the political spectrum. there is nothing conservative about the Constitution, Bill of Rights or Market System.
I have a son studying chemical engineering at U of S.F. I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of young people attracted to the LIBERTARIANS on his campus. if this is a national trend, I think it is a good thing.

    yes we can!
impeach a President & impose term limits on Congress. they serve us as elected representatives, this is not a dictatorship but a representative democracy. end of conversation for me... this is not why I originally posted.
