Shocked after I went back and rewatched the Ravens game

This decency argument is somewhat odd. It's like saying a student got Cs on three out of his five tests and it was only on the last two that he got a D and a F. So he got away with with winging it (can't hold up past three seconds) on three tests, but it showed through late in the game and the kid failed the grade. He's not a good student, he's a poor student. How poor is irrelevant, the line sucks how much it sucks is irrelevant. It needs to be addressed and if Danny Watkins replacing Jerry has the possibility of helping then you do it. Do something, don't just sit there and act like the problem doesn't exist. At least get a running game and allow Tannehill to step up.

Then reassess that line in a week or two if it's worked. The odds that Watkins replacing Jerry tanks the line's performance even more is much less likely than Danny Watkins playing at least like an average offensive linemen.

 

I'd say just being hopeful based on the past performances and skill sets of both.

 

He was also drafted in the 1st round based on past performance. So, at one point it was felt he had the total package to be a very good offensive lineman in this league. He was fired/cut by a new regime who apparently felt he did not fit in their offense. We have seen what Baby J can and cannot do. I think it is time to see if Watkins can help our OL improve, and/or Garner for that matter.

I guess we could use that line of reasoning for everything to do with the team then, personnel wise. May as well set that up as the standard response for every decision the coaches make.

 

never meant to imply that it was a positive, in fact just the opposite. and his quick pace would explain less pressures and also would reflect directly on the fact that the OL can't sustain their blocks long enough for the play to develop. we are one dimensional and defenses are teeing off on Thill so he either gets rid of the ball or ends up on his backside. the rare times he is given time the offense is very efficient and we get drives like the one at the end of the Falcons game.
