Don't agree on the last two, but Gladiator was one of the most overrated movies since Silence of the Lambs, IMO.

And FTR, I loved 300, but calling it a historical war movie is like calling Lion King a nature documentary.

Braveheart is one of the greatest movies ever.

Gladiator had the misfortune of coming out shortly after Braveheart, but upon multiple viewings, is actually a phenomenal movie. I do agree that 300 sucks donkey balls

Its a good thing you're pretty.

Gladiator was about as average a movie as movies get.

It was far too preachy and obvious, imo. I like things a little more subtle, like starting with a pinky

Please don't use those as examples of "historical" war movies because they're not even close to historical, 300 and Braveheart in particular don't even try to be historical. Kelly's Heroes is much more historically accurate than any of those three.

War movies that made a much better effort to be historical and are good movies include, A Bridge too Far, Battleground, Zulu and Zulu Dawn

Only because R Lee Ermy wrote most of his own stuff and Kubrick left him alone to do his own thing. The rest of the movie was meh...
