And the moral of the story..

At some point the philosophy will pay off...football is a game of inches.

Not too often you see a guy who's a freak athlete that's also intelligent enough to understand all the nutritional and mental aspects of a sport.

This man GETS IT. He is a pro football player, making millions, and he is doing what ever it takes to succeed. Impressive..........

I LOVE his thinking about eating whatever he wants to when he is through with football.

isn't that disgusting in a league where your body is the tool to play the sport..lol..

I've said this before, if I'm GM, there's gonna be a new standard for anyone that my owner pays..

Some will say, well, your gonna miss out on a lot of good football players, and I'll say, but big picture, your guys will never reach their potential if that is their intellect level, and collectively I will sacrifice a bit of talent for team of men that train their bodies with intellect, I will make up those inches that wake speaks of in no time, I will outlast you in the fourth quarter, I will be more disciplined, smarter than you, our bodies will max out performance wise..

Now I know that's an extreme and I get that there should always be exceptions, but it certainly would be high in the priority list of any college picks or free agent pick ups..

I wouldn't of let john Jerry, Eric Steinbach or Tyson Clabo through the door..... Not a coincidence they all suck..

Imo, there isn't enough studying being done by the GMs in terms of genetics relative to explosiveness and movement.

I have 6 jerseys, everyone I buy (except CSONKA)... they get traded/released within a season. I can't do that to Wake.

Lol, you got that right..it's great to see because he's on our team and I believe in the results that come with that kind of commitment when it comes to performance, and how i hope that it can spread...what blows me away from these articles is how archaic folks sound when discussing the principles and actions he takes..

You would think that the trainers would be cutting edge in this dept, but I'm not so sure that they are.I mean look at the news chip Kelly made by implementing just a few adjustments, like having all players drink a nutritional shake catered to their needs after every practice and cutting out a taco nite, or some other ridiculous nite..

Of course there has to be a balance, you can't expect everyone to eat grapes as a snack and clean food, but every person who gets paid by this company should have a program specifically designed for them, in season, offseason, and have a nutritionist and trainer that they have to report to consistently..

This isn't about being anal when it comes to health and fitness, it's about being anal in finding the edge to win football games, and imo, this is the best way to make up those inches..speed, speed, speed, everyone of our players that is not taking this part of their craft seriously, is slower than they should be.

Is it genetics or what they do with their genetics? Sure, Wake seems like a freak of nature, but the reason is as much because of what he does nutrition and workout wise as it is the genes he was given in the womb.

Everyone who applies intense work ethic and nutrition to themselves can become quicker, faster, stronger of course, relatively speaking, but those that are genetically lucky, are playing with a whole different set of cards..

Freak of nature or genetic freak, same difference..Wake has perfect genetics, best in the league, when you add what he does to take care of himself, it's crazy ceiling stuff.

Yes, I also think it's about staying square to your opponent, not losing your advantage, outside or in, I think there is schematic leverage, not lose your contain, keep things to the inside, obviously offense is to do the opposite.

Having a nutrition program at all is fairly novel in the NFL. Usually NFL nutrition programs are limited to a dietician who works with the cafeteria to provide the in facility meals. They may be available to the players for personal meal plans, but rarely if ever are they used by the players. It's been a while since I ran in agent circles, but back then players who who would party all night between practices and games were the norm, not the exception. Even now you're hearing about Chip Kelly getting the Eagles to buy into them getting a full night's sleep and the players are acting like it's some break-through never before heard of concept.

This is how non- progressive and Neanderthal NFL people are about this very topic.

I'm watchin hard knocks for the chiefs and Herm Edwards, it's an episode where he's welcoming his players to some run down dormitory where they will be holding camp, it shows the p,ayers rooms where it looks like a jail cell with a cheap mattress that is much too small for payers this size..Their thought process is, " oh yeah, we'll bond this group and make them tough" when in reality the show shows players where their feet are hanging off the bed, and complaining that they can't sleep in the cafeteria while their plate is filled with fried foods..

You would think someone at this level of business, with that much money being invested into players, they would realize how important a good nites sleep and proper nutrition would mean to a man in serious training and performance but noooooo, " it's gonna bond them and make them stronger", yet they complain and ***** when their players are practicing lethargically..lol

    Morons.

    It's still happening today..

I would call that playing the angles. Sometimes you want to string things outside, and not allow an upfield cut. The sideline is the 12th defender. I guess one could say it is a games of inches, leverage and angles.

Herm was one of the most incompetent overrated head coaches of the last 20 years. Now he is an annoying overbearing analyst. I'd almost rather listen to Heath Evans than I would to Herm.

I think your leverage has to be established, angles comes after.
