It's a bye week, so here's something trivial that I just saw that surprised me. http://msn.foxsports.com/lacesout/colin-kaepernick-top-selling-nfl-jerseys/ Ryan Tannehill is # 6!!! Wow, I wouldn't have expected that. Hopefully, he can keep moving up that list, because if he does, it probably means we're winning. Also, I've contributed to the cause. Both my girlfriend and daughter have jerseys. You're welcome, Ryan!
Purchase four! Give 'em out as Christmas presents to neighbors and friends. Help the cause! Clean up the streets.
I’m surprised by Tannehill being #6 in sales. I know this isn’t the point, but I will never purchase a licensed jersey from the NFL. Especially since Nike has taken over, I am just plan out priced. I am by no means poor and have a well paying job (humble brag?) but I just cannot bring myself to spend $100 on a replica, $135 for a limited or $250 for an authentic. Especially when there are other avenues to obtain knockoffs off of “good enough” quality. Maybe I’m cheap? I do wonder how these other "markets" correlate to the NFL jerseys sales? I would assume more affluent areas are inflated in the NFL.com numbers?
No doubt they're expensive, and I would never get on anyone for not having a jersey. I'm sort of out of the market for any shirt -- much less a jersey -- that exceeds $100. However, I do things at Christmas or for birthdays that I wouldn't otherwise do. For instance, usually with video games for my kids, I wait until the price comes way down and buy them used. But at Christmas, somehow I find myself in GameStop spending $59 each on a couple of new X-Box games my kids "have to have". Now, that my boys are teens, I won't even mention cell phones. Ugh. Anyway, those are the times I find myself buying team merchandise at list price. Not fiscally prudent, but that is... how I roll? Did I say that right?
I remember when the list first came out and on the NFL Network one of the dip****s was absolutely floored by the idea of Tannehill being a good QB. His brain could literally not process that.
I can certainly understand that. Christmas and Birthday are certainly make us do things out of the regular. Plus I know if I asked my wife, she would have me one for me in a heartbeat. Not to mention I would do the same for her and her Steelers. Its just my own frugality (is that a word?) that stops me from spending it on me. Plus some of those knock offs are pretty sweet. Higher quality of material than the regular "replicas" that NFL shop sells for a third of the price.
Can totally relate. Oh, and you did well! fru·gal·i·ty /fro͞oˈgalətē/ noun 1. the quality of being economical with money or food; thriftiness. "he scorned the finer things in life and valued frugality and simplicity" 10 points for you!
I'm surprised he is that high, but it does make some sense. First of all, the Dolphins have new jerseys. That alone should put a spike in sales. The Dolphins are also one of the most popular teams around the country (and world apparently). People also seem to really like our colors. Add to all of that the fact that he looks like an up and coming QB and that puts him up there.
