DJ....I believe he made a couple more plays besides the forced int, can't remember for some reason. If Dion was gone I still wouldn't of taken an Olineman, I had Sheldon Richardson as 1a next to Jordan, I'm glad we got DJ but that boy is a beast too.
Exactly. Or, how about a Larry Warford, Hugh Thornton or David Bakhtiari (the last two in place of Dallas Thomas)? Fundamentally, the Dolphins have had a stopgap attitude other than two picks in the past several years and one of those failed, ultimately (Jake Long). Given where the line was, drafting Dallas Thomas - a future project who had versatility but not the size or readiness to start early on - was a mistake. They needed plug and play guys (Like an Albert or diff. rookie). If a team has 3 or 4 really solid linemen, it can get by with a bad position or two. I wonder if Clabo would be cut in the bye week? That would send quite a message. Or putting Nate Garner in.
Hard to say until we see how Jordan handles starting but he cost two picks. So this really could be: would you rather BPA with #9 and trade the 2nd for Albert? You could still grab Taylor with the other 2nd or maybe a pass rusher in a deep class
I am not sorry we got Jordan but maybe they could have put more emphasis on the offensive line after Jordan's selection. One things for sure, if there is no offensive line improvement after the bi week the Dolphins line is going to set some records and its going to be a long season.
That was almost a phenomenal play. There are very few DE's in the NFL that could have got so close to picking that pass off. That showed in one play how athletic and potentially difference-making Jordan could be.
Considering that it was highly improbable that all of our ills could have been fixed this off-season, I have no problem taking the guy at the impact position that high in the draft.
Why is everyone knocking Lane Johnson? Shady McCoy is having a historical season due to LJ's run blocking and he had a horrendous game against Chief's Justin Houston but as a rookie, I expected that, he bounced back against Denver and NY. He's showed tremendous upside so far this season. My hometown team has a Stalwart at Tackle for the next 10 years.
Anyone else seeing a difference in his production on the left vs. the right side of the defense? I haven't tracked it or anything... but he seems much more comfortable and productive on the right vs. the left. Is it just me? Not thrilled with having him play both sides at this point in his development. If we're trying to bring him along slowly and ease him in (for reasons the coaching staff feels is needed)... that's cool. But then just play him on one side to help speed that process up.
