Nice Article on the top 20 free agents... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7592192 I know its a pipe dream because he is never leaving Indy, but imagine if The Tuna pulled some magic and got D. Clark in here at tight end? But Faneca is tops on my wish list, with Briggs, Suggs and Trufant falling in right behind... Its going to be an interesting Off-Season, and with the money we have one of those guys is a realistic possibility. Who knows maybe two? to wishfull thinking!
Bob Sanders and Jason Allen would be great together but it'll be hard to get Sanders.A passrusher is always welcome.....a WR like Crayton could work. Ozzy rules!!
Bob Sanders and Dallas Clark aren't going anywhere, if Miami does go to the 3-4 this season I would like to see them get Briggs and Trufant but I would prefer Trufant seeing this team lacks a true number 1 corner.
If Phillip Rivers gets out if his contract although unlikely there is not a doubt in my mind he will come to Miami.
Faneca should be a near-lock as a FA target for us. Randy Moss as a FA. I wonder if he'd be able to work out here. I would think a guy like Parcells could handle him (though unfortunately Parcells isn't out there as HC). Certainly could use a nice tall WR on our corps. And it could be a nice year for FA CB's if one's willing to relinquish the dough. Either Asomugha, Trufant, or Samuel should be a target for us (cheapest one wins here). Suggs would be perfect for the hybrid if available. I doubt Rivers will opt out (more likely an extension), but if he does, I'd love to see him here. A lot of people were high on this guy including Dan Marino (who scouted him for us in his brief role).
What about Randy Moss?, I'm not really interested in signing him, though, it doesn't sound too unreal, Parcells loves to bring talented and proven WR's (i.e. Keyshawn Johnson and T.O. at Dallas)..., but bringing him at Miami doesn't really intrigues me, what really intrigues me is, will he really leave the Pats?
ive been mentioning his name the last 3 months. check my posts. his a good g wiht very veyr good pass protection in which we lack. and for those taht dono Bob and Dallas wont leave Indy. they said they will tag one n contrcat the other. just as they did with freeney and wayne that one year. trust, it aint happenin.
I would love to see Asomugha suit up in a Fins uniform. How do we look in free agency next year. Are any of our big earners out of contract next year?.
how about: Safety Gibril Wilson (fills in for Bell who keeps getting hurt) Patrick Crayton (we need a receiver) Justin Smith (DE, a stud so far) Marcus Trufant (CB...we need a shutdown corner) id also look into taking Kevin Williams, DT of Minnesota.
that can so easily be done. i just dont liek all the picks. crayton i think is product of the system and not a number 1 or 2 guy. Wilson? sure I guess...we talkin bout which wilson exactly? NE dude? Williams i belive got an extension...DT. and trufant? sure i like him but i want Asomagho first.
why would San Diego get rid of Rivers??? hes their franchise QB basically. i love Asomugha, but guys....come on....the Raiders will either franchise him, or it will take 7 years, 89 million to sign HIM. if Parcells could find a way to sign him cheaper, id take him in a second....AND Trufant. then u can save money by getting rid of goodman and daniels, perhaps even Will Allen, i think Lehan is good enough to be a 3rd CB.
I think if Rivers does indeed opt out of his contract he's definitely something to look into. We wouldn't have to give anything up for him pick wise and we'd be filling a huge void on offense. Whatever the outcome is I see Miami only getting better from here.
It seems unlikely, but IF Sanders hits the market we should do whatever it takes to steal him, awesome player. Im not big on Faneca really, he will be grossly overpaid and if I remember right wants to play for a contender. That last part also eliminates Moss. If you think Moss would want to go from SB to junkyard, and then NOT be a problem, your insane. Still, lots of good D talent here and we need to get some players. If not sanders, hopefully we can get one of the big 3 CBs. Drayton Florence doesnt get as much recognition either but hes a solid guy who could also play for us if we need a cheaper option. With our LB problems Briggs would be an incredible upgrade, and at DE I really like Justin Smith. Likely wont get the money of an Allen or Suggs so may be a bit more of a bargain. If we can pair him with a top flight guy we will be doing OK. Offensively, Crayton is a nice player, also Bryant Johnson though hes not on the list. Would give us another real threat to go along with Ginn as Book is getting up there and Hagan seems to be convinced hes Will Allen. A name I find intriguing is Micheal Turner. With Ronnies injury the Burner would be an invaluable asset to have. Would mean Ronnie can take his time coming back, and when he IS back wouldnt be forced to carry everything alone but could get some good quality spells. Also provides another KR threat to team with Ginn if we want. Anyway, honestly we need to grab at least 2 solid guys
Take that list and forget about it. Like last year every NFL team is getting more money to their cap which means a lot of teams will be able to resign who they really want. Most FA's will be troubled players or ones that want too much money (Joey Porter) so they leave. Or players that were replaced in the draft etc. Hopefully having Bill Parcells will mean that a few FA's might WANT to come here.
I don't know if Crayton is the type of WR we need. Like Ginn, he's a home-run hitter and not the sort of consistent big sized WR we sorely lack. And I don't think signing Smith would be the best solution here either. JT's doing fine, Roth needs to get better, Moses is looking fine, and we need to focus on youth at that position rather than get a FA. Trufant isn't really a shutdown corner per se. I do note it's only in his contract year that he's turning on the jets.
Bob Sanders would be ridiculous if we could somehow land him here. Guys a hard hitting playmaker that'll immediately change the way teams look at this defense. I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny but he's worth it. I really don't think the Colts leave him go. Michael Turner? I'm not so sure. We already have a guy like that in Lorenzo Booker. I believe Turner will go to a team that's in need of a "starting" running back. He'd be a good fit up in Green Bay. My wishlist is like this: Bob Sanders Phillip Rivers(Doubt it) Asante Samuel Alex Faneca
I didn't know he said that so I guess I can scratch him off my wish list. E: I would prefer Asoumugh over Trufant but I don't think Asomugh will hit the FA market.
Generally speaking, it is very rare that you sign a pro-bowl caliber free agent without overpaying him if you look at teams IND, PIT, SD, etc. they spend most of their money re-signing players.
For me, this upcoming year is not the time to sign any "big name/big money" FA's. I hope we look for younger "lesser' players who can fit in. When we are more ready to really make a run, that is the time to look for that one "big player".
1 word ashamagaga......along those lines he is a prime talent and grosely undderated, he is just 26 and should be a top tier corner in this league for years to come, we should pounce all over him and give him a long term deal. My wishlist goes as follows: A tight end: Dallas Clark (that would be magical, if it doesn't fall through LJ Smith or address it in the draft) A corner: Nnamadi Ashumgha (if that fails Asante or Marcus or Bly) A guard: Ryan Lilja or Alan Faneca A WR: Patrick Crayton (if not Bryant Johnson or other veteran target) A S: Gibril Wilson (if not Gary Baxter or Eugene Wilson) but don't bet on any of these, Parcells is famous for building through the draft not free agency and in our position the only guy i really hope we get is nnamadi ashumgha and a vet WR (not to mention a G)
i think... Asomugha/Trufant/Wilson. even if thats all we get, ill still be happy. we'll go back to the days where our secondary was the best: Madison/Surtain/Marion/Walker Now itd be Asomugha/Trufant/Wilson/Allen (not to mention having W. Allen and Lehan in the nickel and dime set). so our pass defense would be unstoppable......and then our rush defense would be.....uhh....so ya our pass defense would be real good.
Another guy to keep your eye on is Laverneous Coles. His contract goes from $3 mill to $5 million next year, and word is the Jets are going to let him go. Would love to see him in a Fins uniform next year.
Repoerted on ProFootballTalk.com.....Doesn't mean it will definetly happen, but they are a lot better than most sited when it comes to reporting on scoops. He would make a great slot reciever for us.
if indy lets bob sanders walk then they are an idiotic franchise, the man is a dominating talent, the best safety in the game. I love that dude
I wonder if the language in rivers contract that allows him to opt out also prevents the chargers in franchising him, that would be very interesting
