Ok, fine. Going to move on, since the whole RB situation was to reinforce my fear and it's clear this conversation is distracting from the core point. I hope Jordan plays more the Vernon from here on out as a DE/pass rusher, assuming he's healthy. Which he must be, considering they play him on special teams. I would hate to see Vernon get more playing time, simply because he was a high pick. That would be the only reason he keeps his reps above Jordan, as Jordan has been more productive despite limited opportunities and is unquestionably more athletic. Wake and the DT's are doing work on QB's. The addition of a full time Jordan at DE is an exciting prospect at this point as he's proven more than capable of applying pressure consistently.
If we are going to beat New Orleans, it will be because we knock Brees around...and that won't happen unless Jordan has a career game. Good be a week to remind the league why he went number 3 in draft....
It was a huge surprise to me (a good one though), I can remember putting my hands up in the air and saying WTF we traded up for a Olineman after all of the picks we've spent (wasted) on our oline? Pleasantly surprised. You never know, maybe we didn't spend much time with him and he had no idea we were really interested. Judging his reaction to the pick is honestly pretty stupid. He signed quickly and has said and done everything right so far. He's my next jersey purchase without question.
Exactly, and well said. DJordan has had an impact in every game so far this season. I expect that to continue on Monday night. Nothing he has said to date has been out of order.
Unless you just like to see things in a negative light, I see no reason to suspect that. Jordan's snaps have been increasing and he had more in the Falcons game than the first two combined. Barring injury, I'd expect this trend to continue.
How much of that was only because Wake was out? I mean, I hope and think he should be getting a ton more snaps. But I'm not sure why the hell he wasn't getting them in the first couple games either.
He was still recovering from his shoulder surgery so they were limiting him in the first two games. Also when they did need him against Lanna, yes due to Wake's injury, he stepped up and delivered. He is supposedly 100% now physically. He showed what he could do last week. It would be totally nonsensical to cut down his snaps this week even if Wake plays. DJ is already the best option we have rushing from RDE. Wake, Shelby and Vernon are all more effective coming from the left side. This is Joe Philbin we're taking about, not the Pizza Dude Fist Pumper. Joe will do the right thing.
I'm excited to see what Jordan and Wake can do together. Jordan has been showing some flashes and I love what he brings to the table. If he's anything like he's been advertised, this is going to be one of the best defenses in the NFL for years to come. Vernon is ok but I like him coming off the bench for 15-20 plays vs playing 50-60 snaps as a starter.
Healthy Dion Jordan will be my favorite Miami Dolphin of this new era perhaps. (The Oregon Duck connection helps..)
The rumors that we wanted to move up to 3 for Jordan were floating draft day morning, so that helped. I thought it was a joke until we made the trade.
There were rumors of Miami moving up, but I never saw it once mentioned by anyone that the intended target was Jordan.
Question... why was Dion Jordan at LDE for most of his snaps? He did well in his RDE snaps... but didn't look comfortable at LDE. If you're going to bring him along slowly... keep him at 1 position. Did any of the coaches discuss this after the game?
