I'm not sure how much being dedicated to your rehab will help speed up his recovery but if it does make a difference I'm guessing he comes back sooner rather than later.
Oh yeah, somewhere, probably on the west coast, Deej just dropped his talipia into his panko bread crumbs..someone should contact him and tell him Kraken will be fine before he does something drastic.
FuuuuArk. That's one guy we really can't afford to lose. And then B-more on the short week? That's a bad stretch. Hopefully Big Paul is back soon. And by soon, I mean now. I hope we give a lot of reps to Jordan. He and Wake rushing from either side late in the season or even post season could allow us to make some noise.
I'm with everyone who says rest him until after the bye. Long term, this team needs Wake at full strength. Also gets Dion Jordan more time on the field, which will be valuable experience later.
Jordan had our best PFF grade in the Atlanta game on the defense. Vernon tied with Grimes for the 2nd best grade. Jordan was overall a +4.7 and +3.7 pass rushing. Vernon was overall a +2.7 and +2.0 pass rushing.
That's great to see...there is at least a 2 dozen college reps I've seen where Dion may not sack the Qb but he disrupts the Qb into an off target throw, a throwaway, or an interception for a teammate.
So how do we think it would play out.....will VO go over to Wake's side and Jordan take his spot or will VO stay put and Jordan go over to Wake's spot? How does Shelby factor in?
Upon review, he got the better part of those plus scores when the Dolphins flipped him around while Wake was injured. The Dolphins tossed Vernon over to the left side for 14 snaps and on several of those snaps got him matched up with tight ends, which is something he doesn't usually run into from his right defensive end position. They also had Vernon floating as a linebacker where he was free to pursue Matt Ryan as he broke the pocket. These things are preferable to me over his work at right defensive end. Miami should move Jordan to full time.
Brian Hartline said today on NFL AM that he'd be surprised if Wake didn't play against the Saints. Take it for what it's worth. I can't post the link at work, but I'm pretty sure the video is still up under the Dolphins page on NFL.com.
here is the link...funny stuff http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-am/0ap2000000249969/Hartline-on-team-s-3-0-start
If it were me, I'd start Jordan at RDE and Shelby at LDE if Wake cannot go. Rotate OV in every 3rd series or so.
I thought Vernon looked better from the left side than he does from the right. If Wake doesn't play, I would mix up the left and right DE positions and show the Saints a few different styles. I'd have Shelby, Vernon and Jordan taking snaps from the left side and Vernon and Jordan taking some snaps from the right side.
If Cameron Wake and Koa Misi both miss the game, I think you could see some of Vernon as an OLB. They did that for a few snaps against Atlanta and lined up him over Tony Gonzalez and basically just had him mug him at the line. OV also did drop back quite a bit in nickel alignments last year; something Miami's done somewhat with Dion Jordan this year. I think you could see that against the Saints. Jordan and Shelby have been better pass-rushers this year than OV.
Sorry DJ. Usually I can work from my laptop and post links...no dice today. It'd be nice if Miami can get at least something from Soliai and Wake this week, but I'm not holding my breath on that.
I was trying to think of what his end zone dance reminded me of, and I finally got it. The Jesus' strike dance.
Two of which are division tilts. We need him healthy for the Bills and Pats. If it's even remotely questionable, no way I let him anywhere near the field against an out-of-conference opponent.
Agree. And this Baltimore game coming up is also important. With Cincy predicted to win that division, we're talking about serious Wildcard implications if it should come to that.
Dolphins LE Cameron Wake (knee) was limited to "field work" in Tuesday's practice, but "still hopes to play (Week 4) in pass situations."Wake's status is still murky, but it appears a certain South Florida newspaper's Monday report that he could miss 2-3 weeks was predictably dead wrong. The report has since been significantly altered.
Hopefully in a brace if he does. Rather he sit it out, but definitely do not want him further injured.
The Sun-Sentinel reported that he practiced in full today, along with Ellerbe and Misi (limited), but it's sounding more and more like Wake and Misi are going to play Monday night. Ellerbe's just playing banged up; like a team-leader middle linebacker should.
