In week 3 updates, Tannehill is ranked 3rd overall in WPA, and 12th in EPA. I'll update tomorrow with DVOA. That kill drive Sunday really bumped him up in WPA.

I really like Wilson, Tannehill and Luck. I think all 3 are good leaders, good athletes, and have all of the physical skills it takes to lead a championship caliber team. Of the 3, Tannehill is obviously the least experienced, and to my untrained eye, has the most room to grow. It is so fun to have a young talented QB.

They just updated DVOA stats and Tannehill has slipped somewhat to 17th overall in that metric, again likely due to his high sack numbers and fumbles.

    9th in completion% at 66.4
9th in QB rating at 94.3

I enjoy seeing those type of numbers. :thumbup1:

Yeah, nothing at all wrong w/ those numbers. 2:1 TD's to INT's ain't bad either. I'll take it for year two.

Just because its cool to say, Tannehill got to 4000 career yards quicker than Marino- 19 games played vs 20. Thats taking into account that Marino didnt play in three of his first four games as well. It took him 23 team games to get there. He's of course not likely to keep up the pace than Dan did from that point.

Likely not this year, unless the OL or his pocket awareness drastically improve really quick like. Who knows in the future though. He's putting up great numbers even with all the pressure and sacks, so his future is very bright IMO.

Your math needs work. Marino reached 4,284 yards in his 18th game played, of which he only started 16. And he did it with the old defensive rules. Then again, he didn't spend his rookie season throwing to the unstoppable trio of Hartline, Bess, and rotation of journeymen/rookies/bums as his three wide outs.

    From PFF:

Miami Dolphins: On intermediate level passes (passes in the air between 11 and 20 yards), Ryan Tannehill has an Accuracy Percentage of 78.5%; the league’s second best figure.

Another game with only 1 TD. And 2 interceptions. Bringing the total to 5/4 on the season. This is Tannehill's first stinker of the season. There will be more if the line keeps playing like this. Also, we haven't even been talking about the fumbles which are killing this team.

The next game will say a lot about this young QB. If he can have a big bounce back game against the Ravens he can forget all about this tough game. Cards were stacked against him. Good QBs make bad mistakes against Drew Brees led teams trying to play catchup. The line was terrible.

He'll bounce back, he has in the past.
What sucks is that Omar is going to be extra douchey this week.

Because Luck is NIGHT and DAY better than Tannehill. When RYAN steps up and gets a WIN against an ELITE team like the SAINTS, he can start being mentioned in the ANDREW LUCK same sentence. Tannehill may take 2 more years before he finally learns how to become a WR but Joe Filbin does not have 2 years and certaintly IRELAND has the end of this year before he gets canned

You are on my side right, his 5td and 5 int he has right now is not acceptable, takes one step forward, then 2 steps backward. It's unnerving. Granted the O-Line is crap and we need to start taking calls for Mike Wallace, i'll take a 3rd and 6th round draft choice OR a 4th rnd pick and a Starting TE (Brent Celek i'm looking at you) for Mike Wallace. He is going to tear this team to pieces.

    Dude this isn't Madden.

Can't believe you didn't know Tannehill was a WR in college.

Congratulations, after 10 posts I'm already considering putting you on ignore, that's a great achievement.

I stopped following after Jeff Ireland was hired, and got stationed overseas, now i'm back following hoping that Ireland gets fired because he's the type of GM that drafts a WR to play QB and wonders why, Oh, my quarterback throws more INT than TD and Fumbles more than Mike Vick. Ignore me, what do I care, you are the type of fairweather fan that accepts this team's mediocrity.

So far in WPA Tannehill has dropped to 5th over, and has 13th overall in EPA. I'm sure he's going to take a big hit in DVOA after last night.

What did Aaron Rodgers stats look like his first 3 years in the NFL? Drew Brees?

Because I know you probably don't know or don't care about being objective, I'll post this for those who are attempting to look at this from a logical, objective perspective.

    Drew Brees

Keep in mind that they both had substantially more experience at QB in college.

And that it is entirely way too early to be writing off RTH.

Don't fairweather fans only root for teams when they are doing well not mediocre? 3-1 isn't mediocre either. Look Tannehill had a poor game yesterday, where were you the first 3 weeks when he was playing very well? Also Tannehill detractors NEED to stop saying we drafted a WR to play QB....he was a backup QB when he was playing WR, he attended all QB meetings, he played WR because he wanted to play and he knew it could help the team (I'm sure they asked him too, IDK).

Whatever, guy. You're being dishonest. Stitches pointed out to you last night that Tannehill wasn't a WR drafted to play QB. You plead ignorance then too.

Tannehill was always a QB from HS on up to now. Due to his athleticism, he was asked to also play WR to help his team college out, so he did, then he went back to playing and starting at QB for TA&M. If he had stayed in College, he would have probably been the 1st QB taken in the 1st round of this year's draft. He's raw and he's still learning, but no one expected him to come out and set the league on fire in his second season.

You're acting like an *** and people are calling you out for it and you start accusing them of accepting "this team's mediocrity". No one is accepting anything of the sort.

As for Luck, yeah, he's good, but Tannehill out dueled him at home and would have beaten him twice now if Sean Smith or Carlos Dansby hadn't sucked last season. He also beat Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, and he would have had a winning record if Carpenter had hit a few FGs.

You call others a "fairweather fan", after saying you stopped following the team for a period of years after Ireland was hired. That is BS too. If you're a fan, you follow the team regardless, even if you're not happy about hirings or drafting. So F*** off with that noise.

What is funny to me is after we beat Atl it was sunshine and rainbows.

Thill led a comeback last game, this one he struggled, that is what Young Qb's do.

TBH, Saints are probably the best team I've watched this year.

I've been posting on these forums since what was it before this, i can't remember but it was a forum from the Miami homepage link, a long time since the 90s. I had to put up with fans spouting the praises of Jay Fiedler and Culpepper and the likes so i'll give you noise if I want to... When I said I stopped following them, it's cause I went overseas to Landstuhl in Germany. Not that I got fed up with them being a poop organization the last 15 years. I just am now getting caught up with their movements and getting back into the NFL as a whole (I don't even know what a QBR is, sounds like sabermetrics crap for Football and I'm gonna rip the pencil pushing geeks a new one who use it). Forgive me for being a little upset that we Drafted a WR who only had one full year at starting QB (i am well within my rights to question the team for thinking you can take a player from one offensive position and turn him into a QB, or I'm sorry back into a QB after playing it in H.S), especially when I didn't get to BOO on draft day. You're from MS which is a good football state, I'm from PA you should know, like me, it's championship or get ripped, there is no Rose Color Shades. The only time you give a team a 'break' is during the PARADE.

I've seen some hypocritical nonsense, but calling some one a fair weather fan for not agreeing with a demonstrably false statement after admitting that you stopped following the team for years because you lived in Germany takes the cake.

#edit.. Just read the last post. I take it all back. I didn't realize you were from PA! You guys role hard. And, not liking how a team is doing a perfectly fine and non fair weather reason to stop following a team. My bad...

As expected, Tannehill dropped all the way to 23rd in DVOA after the Monday night performance.

Watching him take that read option for 25 yards with good strait line speed, and watching him try to maneuver within the pocket, it's like two different players..

We had that saint team right where we wanted them with two mins in the first half, the ball, and some momentum, then that fumble, that sh&$ has just got to stop..

The lack of awareness of where the rush is coming from doesn't look good at this point, the specific athleticism/quickness to get your self thru the traffic in the pocket doesn't look good.

The fine line between knowing how long to hang and when to run doesn't seem to be there..

And the playmaking trait where you scramble out of traffic, keeps eyes downfield, and make a play off the run has been non existent thru the first quarter of the season..

PhillyPhin Fan, I can only assume you are from the state of PA no? I'm from Allentown/Bethlehem and i'm willing to bet you post on RealGM Sixer forum too. @Miami people....Please excuse us PA people...We jump to conclusions very quickly and it's the achilles as to why nothing gold every stays in that city of Philadelphia...They are the most ruthless fans in all of sports in my opinion. They are passionate as well, but lose one game and it's all over. He's just bringing is PA OCD down to the Miami forum. Thankfully I didn't inherit this gene although the doctors have told me that it lies dormant in my system..

@PhillyPhin fan- Bruh, you can't expect us to possibly be ready to go to a super bowl this year much less win every damn game. Joe Flacco just threw five picks last Sunday...FIVE! He was super bowl MVP 8 months ago. Eli Manning is throwing pick after pick this year as well. It's not always because the QB stinks....One common thing between Flacco, Eli, and Tannehill is they all have offensive lines that range from questionable to downright awful. I couldn't imagine trying to play QB in the NFL, it's got to be the hardest job in all of sports. Believe me when I say that Ryan Tannehill is our guy. The only thing I can really complain about with him are the fumbles and pocket awareness, but again.....Jon Martin and John Jerry are getting DESTROYED every other play! Tyson Clabo is struggling with power rushers (probably the reason Atlanta axed him).

lol... following the team from Germany isn't a problem for Alex and several others in European countries on this forum. Guess it's only the real die-hard fans like you who stop following them for a while...

And stop with the WR at QB BS. Clemmons was a WR before becoming a safety and Jones was RB once upon a time. Lots of guys played other positions prior to college or the NFL. Has nothing to do with the fact that Tannehill was, is, and will remain to be a QB. Be honest, this is all about your Anti-Ireland agenda.

And being from PA doesn't mean you're an expert on anything. I spend one week out of four each month working on Market Street in downtown Philly. A lot of the people up there don't know s*** about the Eagles, only that they're not winning when asked specific questions, and the rest of time b****ing about the losses and talking s*** about the Giants and Redskins.

"I just am now getting caught up with their movements and getting back into the NFL as a whole" ... meaning that the Fins starting 3-0 brought you back? Noooo... that doesn't sound fair weathered at all... :shifty:

They are discouraged ...... With those specific plays/type of plays where mistakes have been made. Doesn't mean they are ready to cut bait after a bad game. Whole game wasn't bad either, just specific plays. The fumble was cause by a hit 15 yard down field yeah that is **** pocket awareness!

Chill its one game in a young team/young qb's development

Sorry, not buying it. You claim to have been around the boards since the late 90's, I refuse to believe someone like that could just "switch off" because they didn't like who got hired as GM.

3-1 isn't mediocre by any stretch of the imagination.

Congrats, you made the list! Obvious troll is obvious.

9TDs / 7 INTs. 3/2 on the day. Unfortunately Tannehill spotted the team 7 points on his first pass of the game. And that's why the team lost today. Aside from those 7 points the offense and defense played well enough to win the game. Just like Carpenter last year, Clabo and the play of the line in the 4th quarter deserve a lot of blame for the loss. But just like last year if Tannehill doesn't throw a pick 6, Miami is probably running the clock out on those final drives instead of needing a first down or a desperation field goal.

the team didnt lose because tannehill threw the pick 6 within the 1st minute of the game. it happens(especially when the defense is jumping short routes since they know the oline cannot block for more than 2 seconds)

the dolphins lost, because they abandoned the run, ****ty play calling from sherman, and an oline that **** the bed at the most important time of the game. tannehill ****ed up no doubt, but he led the team back and put them in line to win the game.

I like that he didn't drown in the quicksand today. A lot of the other young quarterbacks would have been buried after the 2 picks. He stepped up and answered back in way that looked to be on par with the elite qbs. His oline once again let him down late. Marino would have fist fought Clabo by now, so maybe Ryan is being too nice.
