So were the Falcons, if you think about it. Look at the stats.

We don't want to abandon the run. We want to win another superbowl and we were 6th in the league in rushing the year we won it all. We have to abandon the run because we don't have the offensive line we had in 2009.

Hasn't much mattered at this point. Tannehill's been sacked 14 times in 3 games, plus a bunch of other pressure, but you can't rattle him...just can't do it. Ryan would need some really confusing secondary coverage packages to have any real impact on this part IMO.

That Saints defense is a lot better than last year. That's what is scary.

The offense is not quite as productive but I personally think part of that was shooting themselves in the foot with Mark Ingram instead of Pierre Thomas. Ingram was hurt this game but he's also asking for a trade so I think there are indications they're done with that sh-t.

The real wildcard there is the guy that tore us the eff up in the preseason, Khiry Robinson.

The dude only got 4 carries at the end of the Cardinals game but busted out runs of 21 yards, 11 yards, 4 yards and 2 yards. He created 2 missed tackles. These are the only 4 snaps he's played this season, but he has 38 yards on them. He produced 229 yards on 49 carries in preseason, which included 16 missed tackles.

Now that Mark Ingram has been completely destabilized out of his position as the guy they keep going with purely because of sunken costs, they might go to a complete meritocracy between Pierre Thomas, Khiry Robinson and Darren Sproles...riding the hot hand. That will be better for the offense.

They also just recently got Robert Meachem back. They seem to have gotten him rolling again as he caught for 34 yards and a TD this week.

Between Colston, Moore, Meachem, Stills, Graham and Watson that's about as much receiving talent as they ever had during their 35 point per game type days.

One big issue this last game against Arizona was Jahri Evans breaking his 8-year streak of games played as he had a hamstring problem. He entered the game questionable and couldn't go. I think he'll probably make it back for MNF though.

Scary opponent. Like I said the defense has gotten so much better. Cameron Jordan and Junior Gallette are rushing really well off the right side. Stiff test for Jonathan Martin. Not sure I would have seen that coming prior to the start of the season.

Cameron Jordan and Tyrunn Walker are rated by PFF as two of the three most efficient pass rushing 3-4 DEs in the NFL. Even more efficient than J.J. Watt. Junior Gallette has a high PRP as well.

Corner Keenan Lewis is ranking #14 of 80 in yards per cover snap, and Jabari Greer ranks #34 of 80. They're doing well.

I think their safeties can be exploited though.

This might be an ugly loss if the Fins don't execute. The only way the Fins win this game is if we have an incredible game plan. NO's defense will beat up Tannehill if our O-line and Rbs continue to pass protect like krap. I'm hoping for some screens and no huddle to slow down their pass rush. Tannehill better get rid of the ball in less than 3 seconds or he is going to get pummeled.

I'm so psyched to see how our young team plays against a more mature NO team. I love being the underdog. If our Fins come out playing physical than anything can happen. I've seen crazier things so I'm hoping for a Miami win in primetime!!!!

I think the OL and other blockers are gonna get their asses kicked this week in practice. Don't they practice an extra day for MNF?

I think we keep it closer than we have any right to. This team is playing solid team football right now. I think our chances of winning are slim though. Especially with Wake out

We can be sort of optimistic that the Saints had trouble against Tampa. A team that LOST! to the Jets and got embarrassed by the Pats.*

They beat the Falcons on the road by a TD but in the last two weeks they haven't really faced good offenses.*

The Defense has bended but not broken against 2 elite QBs, I think the Falcons and Colts have better receivers than the Saints.

I'm looking at the this game through rose-colored glasses but we're not looking at Seattle v Jacksonville type results this week.*

Real question is what happens the following week against the Ravens, I suppose. Since most people seem to agree we're not beating the Saints.

Only thing that has me re-thinking the Saints is the fact that the AFC is 11-3 against the NFC this year. That gives me pause.

Up until this past week I'd have assumed the Dolphins beat the Ravens at home. They beat up the Texans pretty bad. Even so, the Dolphins defense should not be worried about the Ravens offense considering who they've played the 3 weeks before that game.*

Thing I worry most about with the Ravens is our ability to stop their run game.

Didn't think I'd be worrying about that, at this time of the season.

A few days before the season began I wrote down the Saints as my SB pick. Last year they had the worst defense and still pulled out 7 wins. This game will be very hard for Miami where we need everything to go right to win. We cannot repeat what we did vs Atlanta and struggle on every aspect of the game.

What we need to pull out a W:
    1) The D-line needs to go back to playing at the level we saw in week 1. We had 0 sacks vs Matt Ryan who rarely leaves the pocket.
    2) The rushing game needs to get on track this week. Sure we had 91 yards last week, but 49 of those yards were on ONE run.
    3) The O-line needs to protect Tannehill. We got sacked 5 times and now we face a tough defense, the protection better be there.
    4) Tannehill needs better ball security. He keeps getting hit and fumbling the ball, this needs to stop. Now.
    5) Cover the heck out of Graham and any other threat running deep. Sure the Saints almost lost to the Bucs, but did anyone see that last drive?? 3 plays and they were in FG range. We cannot allow big plays deep!

It will be a tough game, and I will not give a prediction until our injury report for the game is more clear. Key players will decide the game, whether it be Soliai, Misi, Patterson, or Wake. We need them back on the field, although I am ok with Wake missing some time to get healthy.

I absolutely love what we have going on here. But with our injuries and first real game in the national spotlight, I think while miami plays tough, in the end the saints are too much at home with their crowd in the dome on the turf. Too bad we weren't playing them in miami. I think Brees is a much better qb than Matt ryan and Andrew Luck at this stage in his career and that will be the deciding factor. I do think if miami can maybe score a TD earlier and create a turnover on defense we can take the crowd out early but not sure it happens. As much as my heart says Miami my head says Saints 34-23.

And there was absolutely no way in Hades the Atlanta Falcons were going to be successful running the football against us with Steven Jackson and Sam Baker out of the game.

Honestly for the most part our DBs played good to great/tight coverage against the Colts and Falcons... not to take anything away from your post PF1968...

Yes the TE's caught passes and somehow created mis-matches against our coverage... but in this past game, their main weapon (Gonzalez) was really not a factor...

The last time Brees and company played this team, we had a completely different starting DBs...and LB's, which had the secondary/LB crew 3-4 yards behind the receivers...

It is tough to win games when you give up yards after catch... also when you let your opponents score in the red zone more than you do...

Now... Looking at NO, and not to take anything away from them, they are not what we used to be in awed of... I could be wrong... but lets take a look at some numbers...

NO has scored 4 times (or 33%) out of the 12 times they were in the RZ in the last 3 games... Their D allowed opponents to score 4 times (or 57%) out of 7 times they were in the RZ in the same games...

MIA has scored 7 times (or 88%) out of 8 times in the RZ in 3 games... Miami's D allowed opponents to score 5 times (42%) out of 12 times in the RZ...

Looks like Offensive production/efficiency could be in the Phins favor for once... Funny how we think they can score 23+ points per game...

    Times a changing...

Is it likely Patterson is out again? We're going to have a much tougher time preventing the Saints from marching into the endzone if so. Colts & Falcons are one thing, but Brees/Graham/Colston in the Superdome is another. Hopefully we'll have a pleasant surprise though.

I missed ESPN's "Undefeated Dolphins vs undefeated Saints" commercial...I'm sure there will be plenty though. Yes a commercial excites me, since its been a while.

Scary part to me about the Bucs game was how the Saints essentially just scored what they needed to score to win the game. They shot themselves in the foot a bunch with Mark Ingram still trying to justify his selection in the NFL Draft.

It's kind of funny I remember a lot of Daniel Thomas debates that actually centered around comparisons with Mark Ingram in that they were pretty close to one another in overall effectiveness. The idea was if Daniel Thomas is a bust then I guess Mark Ingram is a bust too, and since that latter statement was obviously untrue then it shows us how premature we all were on judgments about Daniel Thomas.

That may have been the case, on the judgments coming prematurely. But they were both indeed busts, lol. Just a nice bit of irony.

As long as we stay competitive I dont care much if we drop this one. Of course it would be nice to win and I'll root my head off. 3-1 aint nothing to cry about. 4-0 is something to Grin about.

Their run game has a sub 4.0 average, largest run being 11 yards, on the other hand folks are running on them close to 5 yards a clip..
