Chicago vs pitt take Chicago. Keep the good teams for later. There will be a week you need the seachickens. Pitts offense is hot garbage. Their coordinator is Todd Haley who we all know sucks. Roethlisberger and he are not on the same page. It always a headache dealing with jay cutler vs any half decent defense but pitt cant score. Chicagos defense scores as much as pitts offense right now.
This was my second choice.. I just have always had a problem with betting against pit at home... i don't know why... One could argue that chicago and seattle might be of the same value in the stretch, personally I only see seattle as supremely valuable at home games. Still unsure though
Right, as were my other picks thus far, I believe. (aside from the stupid patsies almost blowing that). That's the way I see it I mean.. in the end you can kind of approach this 2 different ways.. everyone is different. The way I tend to do it is that I spend at least the first half of the season picking the most obvious winners and apparent locks and advancing that way, while the numbers of people just dwindle down... then when it gets down to a certain amount of people that's when I rely on the luck of the draw 'gambling' mode style picks with what i have left, really. Whereas i imagine most people tend to do the opposite, play conservative, pick somewhat over dogs at the start maybe some surprise picks or under the radar games, and stock up on the easy picks later. Either way - I always like to get opinions and the general consensus to help me out
Chicago always starts hot. Pitt is historically a great home team so I agree there but these arent the same old steelers
I too typically go with the sure thing at the start even though the Chicago pick was very very suspect. Picking a team that is playing Browns or Jags is a pretty safe bet for the rest of the year. I also like Denver vs Oakland but saving Denver for later.
but IMO the Steelers still have a defense capable of swaying the game in their favor against a guy like Cutler, perhaps an early pick 6, followed by another blunder and big special teams play, and before you know it Chicago's playing from behind, and then Cutler goes into turnover mode despite Pitt's offense not doing much of anything. Personally, I'd rather put money on Seattle and make sure to live another day.
In past years I tried to get cute and ended up losing the first week so I'm going with the absolute lock every week and will worry about what's left when I get there.
I would have done the same if I could have before the trade went down. this week The entire pool is half seahawks and half vikings aside from two or three people. I went with das hawks
I went with Minnesota because they have lost very very close away games and its their home opener against a team that traded their best offensive weapon.
No, you for outthinking yourself. IMO it's better to go with the sure thing and live to fight another day, especially when you don't know how the rest of the season will shake up. Some favorable matchups can still open up down the line that we currently don't foresee.
Week 4 Chiefs at home vs Giants, Bengals against Browns, 49ers vs Rams, and Colts vs Jaguars all look ok but none are on the level of Seattle at home against the Jaguars. On ESPN the early favorite is the Saints, will be interesting to see if that changes.
I don't think I'd come anywhere near that one. Denver at home against Philly isn't too awful either, but there's not a game where the winner would absolutely shock me.
Bengals or Colts seem like the obvious choice to me. Id probably go Colts on that one. bengals-browns is still a rivalry game and crazy crap always happens in rivalry games.
I'm still thinking but may go Colts, though the Jaguars did win at Indy last year. I'm not very high on Baltimore but their last two opponents (Browns and Texans) combined for 15 points and have to like their chances against the Bills. Colts have surpassed Saints for the most popular pick on ESPN and I expect to see the Saints popularity decline throughout the week. edit: Gabbert is starting week 4, time to lock the Colts in!
Man this is a tough week for me. I can't use NE, IND or SEA.. no clue what im gonna do... like half of the pool all lost on the vikings this week. Its down to like 7 people already...
I'd probably go with Cincy over Cleveland......or Washington over the Raiders.... or even KC at home over the Giants who are currently a mess.
Betting against The Browns made half the pool lose last week.. WAS looks bad enough to lose to oakland without anyone really being surprised .. and thats coming from a skins fan I know... and kc is still a new unknown. . More so than the phins. . They may be real but we dont know 100% yet. The giants have the tendency to turn nothing into something. .idk. I guess Cincinnati seems like the best bet from the options I have.
Denver is the only team I chose to save, For good reason. At this point, atleast so far, they seem to be the most reliable team to have late in a survivor pool. Ironically enough... The last 7 people in the pool Me- Cinci. Denver - 3 Indi - 3. . I should be okay, who knows maybe I'll get lucky. I'm 2 upsets away from a large sum of money. I feel fairly confident in the Cinci pick. I already picked the colts, I want to save DEN, and WAS seems like a train wreck to me. So it's not an easy call to make. Who knows, maybe the eagles have what it takes to beat the broncos? Lol .
Well, after you survive this week at least you'll have Denver left during a tough week when 3 others will have already used up their Wild Draw 4 card.
ace in the hole... but i have to get through this week, after the browns singlehandedly molested half the entire pool last week, people are very scared of them. I'm hoping the browns get over confident and Cinci lays the smack down.
I guess you're right. I mean That was my second choice......but I figured SEA was the no brainer. I told my pops not to pick them... so now it's me.... I BETTER WIN %!@#$!@#$!@#
OOOOUSOFUNNYYYY for real though, the other 6 people are probably thinking that right now, LOL. I personally see the broncos being upset having a bigger chance of happening than the colts this week. I doubt either will actually happen, but i think the eagles obviously have a better shot than the jags...those poor bastards.
OMG. 3rd quarter, CLE is up 7-3 ugggghhhhh........... TOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it makes you feel better I'm 4-0 so far from my unchanged day 1 predictions. Washington was my top choice but you seemed strongly against it b/c of your influential friend the Redskins fan who had you thinking a horrid Raiders team with a question mark at QB actually stood a chance against RG3 and the Skins. My condolences Derek.
