Through the life of a franchise there are peaks and valleys. Obviously we are in a 5 year long slide downwards. But, here is the thing that intrigues me more: has the pendulum finally swung to the other side? Will we as a franchise begin a turn towards the better? We are somewhat bare in the cupboard on both sides of the ball, but we can fill the spots. For the seocnd year we have 2 picks in the 2nd round. (Well 2 first round picks if we really wan to be technical regarding the 32nd selection). We have ammunition there and in the form of Jason Taylor. If he can be moved for a 3rd rounder (be realistic.....he's gonna be 34) then we have a solid number of picks to start with. W/O any trade downs. We may actually trade out of the 32nd pick a hell of a lot easier than the 1st overall and still pick up multiple picks. We actually hav ammunition for the first time in a long time for 2 years. You know, once is an accident, twice is a trend and three times is a habit.
I think our slide has been a whole lot longer than 5 years. This is a franchise that hasn't been in the superbowl since 1984. We havent been a top tier team in decades. Parcells shold really help this franchise get back on the map, as a fan you have to be excited.
Getting rid of Saban was the turning point. You don't want a lowlife running the franchise, regardless of record. 0-13 was not as embarrassing as the day to day reality that a guy like that was in charge.
I understand all of the people who hate Saban's guts, but he was a good coach. If he was here this year we would have won more games with the exact same personnel, I have no doubts about that. As for the pendulum, I think it started swinging with Saban's first year when we drafted players and actually started playing them in real games for a change. This year there were a number of draft picks that made the team and started, next year I think will swing the pendulum back in terms of talent and youth on our team...
You are a wise person. Most of the people here, act like teenage boys after their girlfriend has broke up with them. Here's a hint ...get over Saban...he didn't want to be here.Cam was a mistake. Parcells is the step in the right direction.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Disloyal as they come, but the guy knows how to coach. That's the reason a worm like that continues to find work. The Tuna will do exactly what I wanted to see this off season. He will shake things up and bring in guys that know how to win and leave it all on the field. I totally turned on the current characters on this team during and after the Jet game. No heart, guys laughing on the sidelines and locker room while getting their @sses handed to them....these are not the guys I want going into the future. The Tuna will bring some heart to this franchise.
