If: 32 year old Asante Samuel is still slowed by a thigh and unable to stay with Mike Wallace and rookie Robert Alford is given the responsibility of containing Wallace.

If: Roddy White is still gimpy.

If: The Falcons stud safeties are forced to help deep all game.

If: Jacquizz Rogers is as ineffective as in the past at being the feature back.

If: The Dolphin pass rush is at it's optimum level.

Could the Dolphins blow out an elite NFL team?

When was the last time we blew out a really good team?? The Patriots a few years ago when the wildcat came to the NFL??

Why start this thread? It's like you're begging for karma to kick you in the arse.
I'd rather go into the game thinking we have a good shot versus a banged-up, very good team and be pleasantly surprised if we win and it's not close.

I believe the eastern religions to be beyond flawed and deeply perverse, so, "karma", is obviously irrelevant to me; however, I realize that presumption is a sin, so, for now, I am just asking questions. I do really enjoy being able to even ask such a question, and not have it be ridiculous.

We arent blowing out Atlanta imo. No way. Id truly be shocked. Theyd have to absolutely mail it in on Mike Smith. If we win a 27-24 or 23-17 type game Id be cool. We need to shorten the game, run the ball well, get a few plays downfield and generally keep Ryan/Gonzo/White/Jones off the field. Thats the recipe. If we make this a track-meet and try and out score in an up and down the field type of game we are going to lose imo

Why not just take it a week at a time? I get the optimism for this year and all the talk getting people hyped up. All the stats and injuries in the world mean **** in the NFL. Until game day and watching the 1st few series you have no clue as to how the game will play out.

Yes, because western religions are any better? no more digression.
but, to Boik's point, this was one of the best offenses in the league last year, essentially carried them to the NFC championship despite their mediocre defense.
I predict we win a very close game. The Falcons offense will have a couple of big scoring plays, but we win with a more balanced attack.

I don't expect to blow them out but anything can happen. Anything. Anyone expect Seattle to demolish SF like that? I'm hoping for a win, if it's a blowout yahoo! Takes the sting off losing Matt Ryan a bit :D

Bye weeks, blowouts, good lord. Some of you must not have been fans in 2010. I mean, don't let me piss in your cheerios, but personally I'm just going to enjoy being 2-0, going to really hope for 3-0 all while keeping in mind how quickly things can go south.

Even banged up, the Falcons are a good football team. It could be the Phins that are blown out. Anything is possible. I think it'll be a close game, and either team could win it. Either way, I think the Miami bandwagon is in for a population fluctuation after the game Sunday. We win... LOTS of people are going to pile on. We lose... LOTS of people are going to jump off. It's one heckuva barometer game, IMO.

Yes. I made Seattle a 16 in my confidence pool. Twice last year they really beat up SF and once blew them out. SF does not match up well with them at all as Seattle has the best set of CB's in the league and probably the best overall secondary. Davis was limited to 1 catch in 2 games last year vs Seattle. Seattle is their nightmare.

    Paul Solai and Dustin Keller.

    Steve Jackson..Sean weather spoon..

    I'd say push there..

They have a defensive end and a fullback out as well..it's not that big of deal, both team have two great starters out.

Solai will most likely play. Keller was never around long enough to be a factor one way or the other, and through 2 games I don't know if his production would've been any better than Clay's.
They completely lost whatever semblance of a running game they had, and perhaps their best athlete on defense in Bierman.

If: Jimmy Wilson is playing in place of Clemons...negates the gimpy Roddy White.

If: Paul Soliai can go....Means the pass rush won't be at it's optimum and also likely means the blitz packages won't be as effective.

I don't think this team is quite ready to 'blow out' any team, much less an elite team. I think they are improving, but what about our performances against a weaker team (Cle) and a still rising team (Indy) indicate that we may blow out an injury weakened elite team (Atl)??

I don't see a blow out. That is not Philbin/Sherman's style, nor is this O ready for that....just my 2 cents...

I think the Dolphins will be better off with Starks and Odrick starting. With Rogers starting instead of Stephen Jackson I like having two good interior pass rushers in the game every down.

The only thing I am worried about is FS. I harped on our bad depth at safety all preseason long. Safety depth and of course the OL were the real trouble coming into this season. I really hope Clemons can go at full speed. The Dolphins should have signed Winston Justice and a veteran safety a long time ago, Justice should not have been available for Denver.

If we are full strength except for Soliai I will go out on a limb and predict a Dolphin win: 42 to 17

I went back 7 years and then I got sick of looking. It has been forever since the Dolphins scored over 40 points.

I am counting a lot on Tyson Clabo and John Jerry to play super fired up and way above their normal level. Clabo was, of course, cut by the Falcons and Jerry will be facing his brother on the other side of the line.

If Osi plays like a 31 year old has been and Tannehill has all day to throw, I think it could happen.

Now....where are all those guys who called me a nasty debbie downer?

I'm going waaayyy out on an optimistic limb.

There does seem to be an influx of aqua colored glasses on these sites because of us beating an up and coming team and a weaker team, albeit on the road to start the season. Now, we do some damage in Atlanta and NO...that's a different story...

I apologize for bringing it up. I was just dealing with a word as it applied to prognosticating football game outcomes. I hate fear based philosophies of any kind.

I wouldn't mind discussing the issue further, but of course, this is not the appropriate forum.

I still think ATL is a good team, but they are hurtin' in a bad way.

Keller was our projected starter, two weeks into the season doesn't diminish the loss,it counts as a loss of a weapon (imagine our 12 personnel package)

If Solai does play than I will say we have an advantage when it comes to them being banged up, but if he doesn't, and Clemmons doesn't, then it's a draw imo.

Atlanta is a home game, and that is big, IMO, for this particular game. The positives for the Dolphins in this up coming game are accumulating like strong circumstantial evidence in a murder case.

In two weeks in New Orleans..........I'm not even predicting a win. Right now I'm thinking Jimmy Graham(who should have been a Dolphin) will be a little too much, and the Saints defense is looking pretty good. Close but no cigar.

Whatever...........as for me, I fear God. I greatly fear God. Because of this, I don't fear anything else or anyone else. Not even death. I have tried it both ways. Faith and Love are vastly superior in every aspect of existence.

That said, Go Dolphins!! It's time for this team to get a huge win. It has been much too long in the coming.

I think whether Roddy White plays is going to be pretty key.

That receivers unit with Roddy healthy and Matt Ryan throwing the football has the potential to just be unstoppable at times. Roddy White, Julio Jones, Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez. That's very formidable. There will be games those guys look like the Patriots/Saints/Packers offenses of the last few years. You just have to hope it's not our game.

I'm not buying the whole Falcons injury thing. I'm going to watch the game with the mindset that they're 100% healthy and dangerous offensively. For as "gimpy" as Jones was suppose to be the guy pretty much took over the game against the Rams. Lots of teams have injuries, they limp around but when the ball is snapped they're able to shake it off for a moment and be explosive.

I don't think the Dolphins are good enough yet to blow out anyone, especially a team like the Falcons. If there is a blow out I expect us to be on the receiving end as they have the weapons to score in a hurry.

I'm starting to feel a little more confident for this game due to all the injuries on the Falcons. Factor in the heat and the Dolphins may actually be favourites for this game.

Going to be a close, nerve wracking game that I just hope this Dolphins come out on top of.

    The bolded is key....

I'm not playing it cautious, just realistic. I'm not enamored because we beat two teams that (Cle) we should have beaten and another in (Indy) that we could have beaten and are likely very even with, as development goes, with an edge to Indy because of the QB....

I just don't see that we area suddenly this great team that is likely to beat a team we should NOT beat, and certainly not blow them out....

I'm sorry Deej...I gotta agree with others here, how can you say that Keller is part of the equation ?? He's not. That hit likely not only ended his year, but likely his Fins career as well before it even started. I can't figure him as an asset or loss any longer...

I completely cannot understand why Bro, Dustin Keller played two weeks ago, iin the regular season, he was gonna be a major part of our offense, it just so happens we have a good enough team that responded with a depth player, He's out of our lineup, so, eye for eye, I'll remove Jackson from theirs, if Clemmons is out, then I'll go weatherspoon for them, Solai is out so I'll go brieman for them..

That's even Steven Larry, no two ways about it, Keller was gonna be the man in this offense and we have to make up for it, and we don't have the luxury of running what would of been a wicked 12 personnel package, that's called being a team that overcomes, give credit to the staff and the payers for their resolve..Atlanta has yet to show that they can play as well without one of their best weapons.
