Well, I took Kap. because of his accuracy in the pocket AND on the run. He has surprised me with his progress. I think our coaching staff could have gotten the same type of success with him as the SF staff has. I am hoping I will be proven wrong in the next few years. Wilson plays like he has been playing in the league for years already. I wish our coaching staff wasn't babying Tanny so much. TURN THE MAN LOOSE. As for RG3..........Shanahan is SOOOOOO over rated. He is ruining his QB's career.
who is our coach and offensive coordinator? I'd trade my #2 overall for Kap just so Stitches would have nothing to complain about
If were really going back in time I'm doing it right and drafting Drew Brees over Jamar Fletcher.... If that's too far back I'll just take Brees over Culpepper!
http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=9681307 Hasselbeck gives some love for Tannehill. Says he is overlooked
Face it. Tannehill is a very talented athlete who is just now becoming really comfortable at quarterback. He has quite an upside. Ireland got it right. It's not the end of the world that he got this one right. We're not going to be deprived of one of our favorite sports. We can still hate Ireland for other decisions.
He came out of college much more NFL ready. He's more comfortable in the pocket, he sees the field better, he's more accurate with his passes and he's also bigger and better able to take a hit without going down.
Sure...but, coming out of college really has no bearing now. I don't see any evidence to suggest he sees the field any better. I certainly dont see any evidence he is more accurate. Tannehill has a stronger arm, I think be quite a bit. So..he is bigger and harder to take down.
Easily RGIII! Our coaching staff wouldn't have put him out there after the injury and he would have continued to carve up the NFL on his amazing season and beyond.
I selected RT. I was never comfortable with the risk I see in RG3. IMO RG3 may have the highest ceiling, but also the greatest risk of ending his career due to injury. I also don't think he's on RT's level when it comes to reading defenses. Wilson, I loved and had a late 1st/early 2nd round grade on in that draft. I think he has the best instincts of the bunch, but I don't think he has as good of an arm as RT. I think that by year 5 there's a good chance that RT's experience will be on Wilson's level, but RT will still have the better arm. A big CKap fan the previous year. He's the best at the read/option and has an incredible arm. The question on him then and now is how well does he read defenses? IMO he's behind RT despite having an extra year of NFL experience. For me the bottom line is that RT has all the physical talent of the other guys (except RG3) but the personality to be that Peyton Manning type. By that I mean that QB that rarely repeats mistakes and gets better every year. IMO Luck and RT have that trait over the others. I see them as gym and film rats who will out work the other three (primarily and most importantly, in the film room).
I didn't forget about 3 acl injuries though. Russell Wilson is to date, the best QB from the 2012 class. Guy can do it all. He's a mobile Drew Brees. Gotta take Wilson.
Bumrush I am bummed out! Your time machine malfunctioned and I ended up in 2003 and Dave Wannstedt was still coach, now I'm going to be having nightmares. Thanks a lot! Seriously I would draft Tannehill knowing what I know now. Its not homerism, I just feel like Tannehill has shown enough to indicate he can be much better. He seems to be a good leader, studies the game hard and really applies himself. I really feel like the coaches are trying to develop him into a better pocket passer and they are impressing upon him to stay in the pocket. If and when they turn him loose he will really be dangerous. When he came out in the draft I remember reading and hearing that he was considered to be the best roll out passer in the draft.
I wanted Wilson back then and would choose him now. Point was he was also there not for the second overall pick, but a second round selection. That doesn't mean that I'm not enthusiastic about the signs of improvement in Tannehill's game which have been the biggest positive through the first two weeks. Hopefully it continues.
I don't see the signs of a top 10 QB in the NFL during his career let alone all time. He is going to be an INT machine his entire career IMO who will wow and look great at times. Until he throws another pick. Only one you can make a case for IMO is Kaepernick over Tannehill for their careers. ]RGIII isn't a very good QB despite popular opinion and Wilson strikes me as MEH whenever I see him play. I think he is flash in a pan.
Taking Thomas over Kumerow would be the biggest single change you could make with our football history hot tub time machine in terms of Dolphin success, at least since the 70s. Even if the change didn't bring us a superbowl (although I think there would be a chance), it'd be worth it just to erase the slow burn torture of those screen passes to Thomas slowly unravelling our season each and every year during the late 80s and early 90s.
Your numbers are inflated when you throw a screen or 5 yard slant and your WR's take it 60 yards to the house.
Tannehill was my second choice behind Luck last year anyways. Ive liked Wilson since he tore apart my WVU Mountaineers in a bowl game several years back, and then fell in love with his game the year that he was at Wisconsin. However, like many, his height scared me. I know that Im way out on my own, but Ive never liked Griffin's game at all. I dont like running quarterbacks, and when he throws it deep, he reminds me of a little kid trying to impress his friends - winding back so far that he bends backwards, and then blindly tossing it as hard as he can. Peyton Manning he aint. I like Ryan's skill set a lot, and he's impressed me with his aparrent work ethic and coachability. His teammates seem to like him, and he really has a good grip on our offense. Im thrilled to have him. If I were to be able to pick any one QB to have on the team instead of him for the next five years, the list would be pretty short (but would of course include Luck).
Well, if it was up to me, Kap would of been drafted, and if that didnt work out, we would of been rolling with Kuechly and Wilson. I'm very happy thus far with Tannehills progression, I have been trying to evaluate him against the new elites, and my one concern was playmaking ability, I think he's shown that that specific concern was valid, the pocket presense and escapability talent is not on those other guys levels, but, I've always said, his pocket talent is the highest..
For me, choosing between Luck, Wilson and Tannehill is like choosing between Elway (Luck), Young (Wilson) and Rodgers (Tannehill). But to choose for this team, with this staff running this offense, it would be between Wilson and Tannehill.
RT still has a ways to go in reading pass defense and finding the most open WRs. His passing has been very good at times. But, he still locks pretty strong on one receiver maybe going to the #2 check down. Watching the coaches film on Game Rewind, there were some big plays if he just looked with a bit more peripheral vision. That will come with time, hopefully. He really missed a TD to Miller on the first completion to Wallace. But, in hindsight, it was a better thing overall that he threw to Wallace to get him going in the game and having Wallace as a major factor could be big for the rest of the season. Certainly taking some pressure off him. However, in the overall picture, you want RT to see the field better and make the big play. I think Wilson and Kaepernick still have more confidence and awareness in the pocket. Wilson is really a confident player with his arms and legs. RT does need better pass pro - that is for sure! If he gets that it can help.
yeah kaepernick has a year on tannehill but he also has started almost half the games of tannehill...
