Especially after the way he trashed the Dolphins after last years draft for not picking Quinn.

That aside, I actually agree with him. I believe Beck steps up and starts this year.
McCown may have the edge on experience, but he just isn't that good.
I know Beck struggled last year, but he struggled for a bit at first in college and due to his hard work and determination he did very well at that level. He is going to open a lot of eyes this year.

That would be nice to see! I hope Beck does open some eyes and plays well.

Yeah, I've always believed he could start. It sounds like he has put the failures of last year behind him and that has to be where he starts this year. At least it gives us a reason to be excited about the preseason...

    John Beck info

Hey guys and gals. I haven't had a chance to post lately due to work but I just saw this out there and thought it was good info for all of us

DAVIE, Fla. -- The window was a small one, like a porthole on a cruise ship. Fitting a football into it was going to be tough, forcing the passer to make a precise throw that the great ones usually make.

Like the Dolphins, John Beck had a rough 2007. (Getty Images)
One problem: This certainly wasn't a passer anybody would consider great, not when he's in a fight with a journeyman and a rookie for the starting job. But after watching John Beck throw a rifle shot for a completion into that tiny window, with two defenders smothering the receiver, during a minicamp practice earlier this month, one has to wonder:

Is Beck the Miami Dolphins' long-term answer at quarterback?

That question hung over Beck this winter and spring as the Dolphins re-tooled their front office, bringing in Bill Parcells to overhaul the team. Any time Parcells is involved, turnover and Tuna go together.

Parcells likes his guys. Beck wasn't one of those. That meant working to become one.

Beck came to the Dolphins last year as a second-round pick, the handpicked quarterback of the future for the previous regime. The plan was straightforward: Beck would watch veteran Trent Green for a year or two and then take over as the franchise passer, helping Dolphins fans forget the days of Jay Fiedler, Ray Lucas, A.J. Feeley and the many others who have tried to fill Dan Marino's shoes since he left after the 1999 season.

When Cam Cameron was blown out after a year as coach, with general manager Randy Mueller along for the ride, Parcells was given big money -- the reason he came back, despite what he might say about loving the game -- to turn the 1-15 Dolphins into a winner. That left Beck starting from scratch again.

"I haven't heard that I wasn't a Parcells guy," Beck said earlier this month during a break from the team's minicamp. "I never thought I was the guy he didn't like. He didn't know me. So it was up to me to show him. A lot of people will say he's tough, that he's difficult, that he's a mean SOB. And he can be rough. But he wins football games. If I'm doing something he doesn't like he's going to tell me and I will change it. He's Bill Parcells. He knows better than me."

Parcells isn't the coach. He isn't the general manager, either. But make no mistake about it, he has great influence over the Dolphins. During a morning workout at the minicamp, Parcells stood high up on a balcony outside his office overlooking practice, sort of like the Pope looking down at the masses.

With apologies to coach Tony Sparano, there was little doubt as to who the boss was on this day.

Parcells will offer advice to players. Beck said Parcells would sometimes stop him in the hallway and tell him a thing or two to help him get better.

That could be a sign that Beck is fast becoming a Parcells guy.

    "I hope so," Beck said.

I remember at last years preseason game against jax, he rifled a ball into a tiny pocket for a toucdown. The dude has shown some promise, i think in preseaon he will turn some heads.

Based on Prisco's history, how good did Beck have to look in that practice for Prisco to write such a positive article about him?

It's heartening that early indications are that Beck looks good, and has made a good impression on the staff.

He looked good last offseason too, though, then wilted under the game day pressure and speed.

Some will argue that much of his poor performance last year was due to the entire team sucking. Maybe that is so. So we hope. I still harbour a vestigal doubt about how he will perform in real games. That doubt can onlt be fully erased once I watch John play well for sixty consecutive minutes on a Sunday.

I would also caution people to remember that the O-line is likely to struggle initially. Only Satele returns at his position. Carey has moved again. Both of them will be next to new people. In fact, possibly with two rookie starters and FA Justin Smiley, no one on this line has any experience with the guy(s) next to him.

Great O-line play is about cohesion and chemistry, which both take time to develop. I wouldn't expect great things from this line right away. There will be mistakes.

Thus, if John Beck starts the season he may not be entirely in the lap of luxury, protection-wise.

Still, if he weathers the storm as this young line improves I believe he will win the team's respect as a leader and the entire offense can bond as they grow. I hope the staff gives John long enough for that to happen, and for him to make his own mistakes then learn from them. If this staff cultivates John, they will be rewarded with a wonderful, high-caliber quarterback once he blossoms.

Sorry, but I can't stand Peter Pricko and his sensationalized ramblings. I am on the record for hoping that Beck becomes a True-stud and is our QB for a decade...

That being said, considering this is coming from P-2, I put ZERO faith in the claims at this juncture
