I could live with a 3rd or 4th rounder for Moore and then keep Devlin as the backup. The fact is that if Tannehill gets hurt for a long stretch of games, either Moore or Devlin as the starter would still not provide the Dolphins with a QB who can lead them to a winning season. I think if Moore was the Dolphins starter this year for all 16 games, the Dolphins would probably go 5-11 or possibly 6-10. I think a Delvin quarterbacked Dolphin team would be 4-12 or 5-11. So getting a mid round draft pick for a QB who may win the Dolphins an extra game over a QB who is worth nothing on the open market, as far as draft picks, I'll take it. This season is all about Tannehill proving he can take a giant step forward. Anything less will mean another losing season for the Dolphins.
KFFL: The Green Bay Packers waived C Patrick Lewis, WR Myles White, TE Jake Stoneburner and LB Dezman Moses.
Is it just me or are there several good possibilities for upgrades to the bottom of the roster? (and possibly a starter at RG....looking at you Jake Scott)
I miss Boom and his insights. The place just isn't the same without that avatar picture of his face popping up everywhere.
Not a cut, but Pat White made Washington's 53. ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk14m Report: QB Pat White makes Redskins' 53-man roster http://wp.me/p14QSB-9g3t
rb jonathan dwyer was cut by the steelers and OL Fernando Velasco was cut by Titans. I would like to pick up both of them. Velasco was a center but can play OG
Dwyer was cut? Holy ****!!! There is your short yardage back. I drafted him in one of my FFLs lmaoooo. Doh.
Wasn't there some talk about Velasco earlier in this thread, could be worth a look? Can't believe Dwyer isn't going to get claimed by somebody; he's a better back in short yardage than any of our guys. I was also big on Fragel coming out, though he's not someone i thought he would make an immediate impact as he needed some coaching-maybe that's why he was let go?
I'd love to see the Dolphins sign Tim Shaw. I'm a little biased because I coach with his brother, but he is a fantastic ST player (captain in Tenn last year) and a good backup LB, which is a position the Dolphins could use an upgrade. If they signed him I would get tons of info from inside the locker room which would be awesome. I'd bet he goes to the Lions though.
The aforementioned Jonathan Dwyer..... Steven Miller - Lions.....12 carries 72 yds. 6 yards a carry Joe Banyard - Vikings....26 carries 123 yds. 4.7 yards a carry 1 td Matthew Tucker - Eagles....25 carries 89 yds. 3.6 yards a carry 2 td Deji Karim - Texans....21 carries 112 yards 5.3 yards a carry Bobby Rainey - Ravens....forced 9 missed tackles(great). 4 yards a carry(meh) 23 carries 89 yards 2 td Edit:Gillislee - 42 carries 125 yards 3.0 avg. Not saying we should cut Gillislee, but I'd like an alternative available Stats courtesy of PFF
Eagles cut a lot of good player: DT Antonio Dixon, LB Everette Brown, Jamar Cheney, TE Clay Harbor, Kenny Phillips, Eddie Whitley, Matt Tennant, dang.
There are a lot of cuts to sort through. The following group of cuts stand out to me THE MOST. I'd be a hair away from just going ahead and filing waiver claims on thme. WR Chris Harper WR David Gettis FB John Conner DL Michael Brooks LB James-Michael Johnson S Winston Guy These other guys stand out to me but I would need to do a lot more research before I filed the waiver claim. QB Chandler Harnish RB Johnathan Dwyer RB Alex Green OT Xavier Nixon OT Michael Bamiro OT Reid Fragel WR Chris Owusu (the real one this time) WR Stephen Burton WR Conner Vernon WR Zach Rogers WR Greg Salas TE Phil Lutzenkirchen TE Clay Harbor TE D.J. Williams FB Michael Robinson DT Jaye Howard DT Clinton McDonald DT Sealver Siliga DT Marvin Austin DT David Carter DT T.J. Barnes DE Adwale Ojomo DE Marcus Benard LB Orie Lemon LB Dontay Moch LB Keith Pough S Dejon Gomes S Jim Leonhard S David Sims CB Terry Hawthorne
I don't think anyone is infatuated with Devlin. It's just that there is no clear upgrade, and he's been with the team and the system for awhile. Imo, there is no need to cut Devlin for another qb. He is groomed to be a backup, he is alright considering the alternatives. I am surprised at keeping Vaughn Martin or Shelby over Okpalaugo. Okpalaugo in first 3 preseason games when he was given playing time had 3 tackles 1 sack in each game, 3 TFL total. That's very good, better than the guys who are still on the roster at DE.
