Sir Alex Ferguson retiring... what gets me is how quickly Man U are planning on having his successor named (like within 48 hours). So much different than the NFL and replacing head coaches.
Robben is a beast. Not sure what the Dortmund manager was thinking with about 15 minutes left in the second half, having just tied it up.... why not bring on some subs, their back six was spent!!
well thats the problem dortmund has compared to munich, their starting 11 is very good, but their bench is not that deep
well hopefully this one sticks.... http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1459260/gary-bowyer-takes-blackburn-reins?cc=5901 Blackburn have appointed Gary Bowyer as their manager on a 12-month rolling contract. Bowyer was first placed in charge of Blackburn in December following Henning Berg's departure and he remained unbeaten during his four-game spell, winning against Barnsley, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City before drawing at Wolves. After Appleton's dismissal, Bowyer took charge for a second time and steered the club away from the bottom three as Rovers took 12 points from their final nine league games to finish 17th in the standings.
Not one comment about Robbie Rogers yet? I don't care what he does... but do we have to see it on every news outlet, every day?
Radamel Falcao has joined Monaco, I thought he'd join a bigger club since he's La liga 3rd top scorer behind Messi and Ronaldo. http://as.com/diarioas/2013/05/31/english/1370028745_911687.html
The NBC premier league coverage next season looks great. Now I get the games for free instead of shelling out more money to DTV.
Sports thread. His attention wasn't for sports. But on Robbie, how does the Galaxy give up their leading goal scorer for him? Wierd. PR vs on field results I guess. Trade costed the Timbers 2 points last night...
so are you guys ready....Bayern is about to play at Dortmund for the first official game of the year...its called the Super Cup, normally its the German Cup Winner against the league champ, but since bayern won both, they play against the 2nd seeded team dortmund 45 minutes to go....
Clint Dempsey headed to Seattle, largest salary in MLS history, at $32m base over 4 years. $9m transfer fee for Tottenham. 30 years old.
anyone think the U.S team we send to the World Cup has a chance to be the best we ever sent? For the first time it seems we have some offensive weapons at our disposal.
I think the American team has come a long way since 1994. I mean on paper, how can they not be the best team they've sent? It's good to see Klinsmann is finally jelling as the coach. His implementation of the German style, offensive mindset, and to be relentless at all times will make for some great soccer. Hopefully Donovan sticks in the top 11 because IMO he's the greatest American soccer player to have ever laced it up and still has something to offer. Putting Beasley at the back is also a stroke of genius.
Looks like with NBC now covering Barclay's Premier League, that Fox Soccer will no longer show "Deadline Day." This is Sky Sports all day coverage of the last day of the summer transfer window. I've always found it to be epic. Anyone know if it'll be online somewhere instead? Maybe the usual er... justintv will have it?
hoping to see this line up for the game vs costa rica Howard Cameron Brooks Besler Johnson Jones Bradley Donovan Dempsey Johannsson Altidore
Gareth Bale to Real Madrid is done by the official site. Also rumours saying Kakà is on his way to AC Milan again.

from bad to worse for man u... meh, that's a shame... they didn't get the paperwork in on time for Coentrao... no soup for you. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-deal-fabio-coentrao-2246665
I'll say he gets an extension, 4-5 years maybe? I'm wondering which partnership will be more productive, Bale-Ronaldo or Messi-Neymar. Nothing of value was lost lol. They managed to keep Rooney and sign Fellaini though.
nobody wants to mention the world cup qualifiers? Well then I'll go ahead... thank christ England pulled out the back to back W's recently. Here's a look at the 8 2nd place teams that must play a home / away duel... Group A: Portugal (14), Greece (15), Croatia (18), Ukraine (20) Group B: France (21), Sweden (25), Romania (29), Iceland (46) This means Portugal v France has a chance of happening and if that were to be the case, I'd be ECSTATIC if one of them didn't make the WC. LOL... of course the matchups will probably go something like this: Portugal vs Iceland Greece vs France Croatia vs Romania Ukraine vs Sweden With Portugal, France, Croatia (although they are a mess) and Sweden advancing. Mexico has to play a home / away vs New Zealand as they finished fourth in the Concacaf hexagonal. Crazy stuff... They almost blew it after beating Panama last week (epic goal to win that game, probably the best one I've ever seen in a crunch time scenario) and then the US had to "save" them by beating Panama with two extra time goals. NUTS!
One of my good friends played for Liverpool back in the 70's and I have another buddy that played with Pele with the Cosmos.
He must have some great stories. 70s.... really the glory years started for LFC then. Some serious hardware.
Tell you one thing, they both gave me a lot of help when I became a official. I work in three different leagues and some of my games have been on espn. Good officials understand what players are thinking and listening to these guys taught me some of that.
