that is one of the strangest theories I have ever heard… If that is there philosophy why are they hanging on to Brady? Why not draft another guy they can play for two or three years before they send him on his way? Me thinks, they have just sucked royal *** at drafting CB's...
Dowling didn't last 3 years. He was drafted in 2011. Missed most of that season with a hip and most of last season with a thigh injury.
When you reach 90k plus posts, you'll probably have come up with a strange theory or two by that time. You cannot expect to reach that many posts and sound smart all the time.
Butler has turned out to be a good nickel back for the Colts. Pats cut him too soon IMO. Now, Terrence Wheatley, he has turned out to be garbage.
Dowling was even hurt his senior season with an ankle injury. Depending on what his current injury is, I still wouldn't mind giving him a chance. Going into his senior season he was one of the top CB's in the country.
Caesar Rayford. He's an OLB for the Colts that may be miscast in their 3-4 defense. He's over 6'6" tall and looks like Devin Taylor with those freaky long arms and lengthy build. He's produced 5 sacks, 1 hit and 4 hurries this preseason on 77 pass rush snaps this preseason. He's 27 years old and played briefly at Washington before making his career in Arena Football where he got 29.5 sacks from 2010 to 2013. Chuck Pagano raves about him but if he gets caught in some kind of numbers game (which I find doubtful, but you never know) or if he falls out of favor because of scheme fit or his age/background...I would LOVE to sign this guy up. Here's a YouTube of his work against the Giants. You'll have to forgive how long the video goes just to show a few plays as whoever did this video decided he's going to go to great lengths to actually break down the pass rushes. But he's damn impressive on those plays. Two words of advice to the Dolphins, if Caesar Rayford is cut by the Colts: GET HIM
Also, I haven't brought him up because I thought there's no way the Texans let him escape, but if Willie Jefferson does make it to waivers, I think you put a claim on him. He's the wide receiver convert that has been tearing it up as a pass rusher this preseason.
Me, too. Rogers certainly has question marks, but I'd rather have him on our roster instead of Marvin McNutt or Tyms. He's big, good wheels, productive and physical with very good hands. More quicks than Jeff Fuller, just a very good prospect if his head is right. Big if. The flip side is a guy like Tyms, local guy who's come up from a rough background and has had to fight for everything he's gotten. Hard not to pull for him, but I think that Rogers is the better player.
True, mostly talking about his time in NE. I was actually rooting for us to take him going into the draft because he's a local kid and I knew some of his friends.
yo the Saints undrafted RB Khiry Robinson looks pretty good out there...they already got Sproles, Thomas, Ingram...Cadet will probably be the 4th because of his versatility as a return man and even a receiver...could leave Robinson on the outside looking in, he's probably already better than D Thomas.
His agent claimed he would be healthy...but then shut up when Will wasn't. I believe come late Nov Will was still not healthy.
That's not what really happened to my recollection. The agent wanted an injury settlement and was willing to do one. The Dolphins opted to pay him the full $5 million or whatever just so they could keep him the next year.
I just remember Drew and Will quit squawking and eventually even reduced his 2011 salary and still couldn't stay healthy. Plus when he picked up 4 off waivers we cut those 2 old DE's (boy have we come a long way from that) and metal god wannabe Proctor. I'd find it hard to believe they couldn't find a 4th guy if they thought he could comeback. Should have injury settled him though. After the ACL...he never really did stay healthy after that. Wish the search engine here would let me find my posts on the subject back then.
I remember his agent being asked about the injury settlement he and Will had been pushing for and him saying something along the lines of we're fine, the Dolphins are paying my client extremely handsomely to just sit the whole year even though he's healthy. I recall it the exact opposite as you, that he was actually healthy and ready to go a lot earlier than some had initially feared and that was why they were itching to get an injury settlement done, because they could have signed with another team pretty much immediately. As for 2011, what do you mean he didn't stay healthy? The Dolphins cut him just prior to Week 1 purely because he was a vested veteran and his full 2011 salary would have been guaranteed if he'd been on roster for the first game. The move proved costly though because Benny Sapp blew it big time against Wes Welker and the Patriots that week, and the Dolphins sheepishly came back to Will Allen asking him to sign back up and be their nickel corner for the next 15 games, which he did. He was the team's nickel corner and didn't miss a single game due to injury.
Former 1st round pick Danny Watkins may be out in Philly. He may be a bust but he may be better than what we got at RG. Plus the football gods owe us one with Evan Mathis being so good for them.
giants fans on several message boards say that Adewale Ojomo won´t make the team, if you want an upgrade over shelby....there it is [h=3][/h]
I am not anxious at all to replace Derrick Shelby. I think he's an excellent player. He had some really nice pass rushes last night and he as been pass rushing well throughout the preseason. He also pass rushed sneaky well in 2012, given his role and the time he spent on the field. I might be interested in Adewale Ojomo or Louis Nzegwu, Willie Jefferson or Caesar Rayford but it really doesn't have to do with Derrick Shelby.
I don't know Ojomo, so don't want to criticize him, but Shelby is a pretty good back-up. I'd be surprised to see someone who is a clear upgrade (that's young/cheap as well) get cut.
Pats backfield is crowded, and we need the help. Possibly cutting Brandon Bolden and/or George Winn, who flashed this preseason. I was hoping the Giants would maaaybe cut and try to stash Michael Cox, but it appears they need all their bodies back there at this point (horrible injury for them with Andre Brown).
he is a preseason sack machine, that for some reason can´t see the field in the regular season, he had another one last night, which gives him like 7 sacks over the last 2 preseasons
if you also look at philly fans about their 53 roster, the majority of them didn´t name Tobin or Bamiro to make the team, Bamiro is mentioned a couple of times, but thats it, most of them have him on the PS though, tobin not one word about him there is also one thread called "Will Nick Foles complete a pass over 15 yards this preseason ?"....lol
The Texans have a great competition going on at tailback between Cierre Wood and Dennis Johnson. If one of those guys gets cut I would take the other over Gillislee and Gray.
The Philadelphia media are terrible where it concerns Matt Tobin. It's not that they're not recognizing Tobin's talent. I don't expect every writer to be able to recognize talent. But they're not paying attention! That's what I can't stand. Matt Tobin going all the way back to before preseason even started, had risen HIGH up the depth chart at left tackle. He was always the immediate 2nd string guy. When Jason Peters got hurt in practice, he spent time with the 1st team. During preseason games, he was the first off the bench. In the final preseason game with Jason Peters sitting, Tobin was the starting left tackle. There has been every indication from the coaching staff that they like this guy a whole lot, and the Philadelphia media either stands incredulous due purely to name value, or they won't even bother to ask the questions whose answers would reveal to them just where Tobin stands. Now, let's pretend the media are right. Let's pretend Tobin gets cut. The Dolphins need to pounce on that quickly and decisively. In fact, I would preempt them. I would give them a call and say listen, we're not happy with our tackle depth and you guys seem to have a bunch, let me make an offer for this Tobin kid you picked up undrafted as he fits our system, comes from Iowa where our coaches have all kinds of Iowa ties.
Tobin article: http://www.csnphilly.com/football-philadelphia-eagles/undrafted-rookie-ol-tobin-standing-out
Wow. Finally. And it's even dated August 30th. And what did it take before they finally noticed? The fact that he started the game last night. Reality is we should probably be talking about Michael Bamiro and not Matt Tobin.
I remember someone saying the Dolphins were outbid for Bamiro ((It might have been you). If it was you where did you hear that? I never saw anything that indicated Miami was interested in him when he was a "free agent".
It was an NFL.com writer. When he confirmed that the Eagles had landed Bamiro he said in another part of the article that the Miami Dolphins had gone all the way to the end with Bamiro as well, but that Bamiro chose Philly.
I think it unlikely. I think Dennis Johnson is the most likely to be cut. I'd take him over Gillislee or Gray.
