man. to say those three are better than Devlin, that's just flat out wrong. I watched Harrell play against the Seahawks this week. There is a reason he was released the next day by the Packers! He is absolutely dreadful. He couldn't complete a pass beyond 5 yards to save his life. Pat has had good moments this preseason behind a third string, pitiful bunch of offensive linemen.
One play that stood out to me about Daniel Thomas (I am rewatching game now)....2nd quarter, 5 minutes left, Thomas takes a stretch play to the left, big back room for 4-7 yards if he cuts hard up field.....instead he jukes left right into the back of his blocker (Hartline) and gets a 2 yard gain. That's unacceptable to me. You're in a fight to win a job, possibly keep a roster spot.....and I am not seeing the fight to get every yard possible like I see from Gray and Gilleslee. I know it's one play, but I think it speaks volumes and paints a bigger picture of the issues people have with Daniel Thomas.
I personally think that's an example of confirmation bias, but he's on the team, so no need to get into a big argument about it.
I wouldn't consider him a major cut because I struggled to make up an excuse to keep him on the roster. At this point it wouldn't surprise me if both he and Clay were goners and we pick up a FB off the waiver wire.
I remember that play ... I saw it as he juked left to avoid the defender that was coming across from the inside ... instead of trying to run through what would have likely been an arm tackle. I agree ... dude needs to grow a pair and run some people over.
Ahh, Paul. Me and Paul. The good ol' days.
Yeah, when I saw the play the first time, I thought he got what he could on it, but watching it the second time, if he turns it upfield a sec earlier, he gets a lot more yards...something that I wrote down in my notes that Miller would have made the 7-9 yrds where Thomas gets nothing or maybe a yard...
It's really just another example of where his lack of natural instincts results in a negative play on the field. He's been putting examples of that out there for three years.
He should have just stuck his nose in and gotten the extra half yard, but I understood what he saw when he made that cut. The hole was closing and if he got to the other side of the blocker he could have broke it. He just made the cut as the blocker got blown back. I think if the blocker had not lost ground he might have gotten to the other side.
I say Depth looks like this Offense Qb:Tannehill,Moore,Devlin(Philbin likes him much) Hb:Miller,Thomas,Gilislee. Goodnight from germany Guys.
so who is it that sees the reaper...lane or rodriguez, i really wanna see more of rodriguez, so i hope we keep him
I'm guessing Lane gets cut because of the issues at tight end. Evan Rodriguez has more versatility that way.
i don't think anything can change their impressions now, i rather get the other one some more playing time
Yeah same here. How many do the Dolphins have on roster right now? I should probably make a prediction as to who gets cut today. Seems kind of dick-ish to cut everyone AFTER practice as if the coaches don't already know which guys are getting cut. But truthfully I think they're doing it benevolently. An injury could happen at any time and then suddenly you're not getting cut after all...so they're giving them that (small) chance to still make it. On the other hand they're also risking that the player about to be cut gets injured. From a player's standpoint, that could actually be beneficial depending on the severity. You get paid more. Anyway, not assigning right or wrong. Just interesting.
If you get cut while you're hurt, you usually get an injury settlement that pays you part of what you were scheduled to make during the season.
Here's what I can tell is the current roster with players listed by position in order of how likely I see them of getting cut. I guess that means my predictions for the cuts today are: QB Aaron Corp, WR Andrell Smith, OT Andrew McDonald, OG Chris Barker, DE Emeka Onyenekwu, LB Nathan Williams, CB Don Jones and S Keelan Johnson. QB: Tannehill, Moore, Devlin, CORP RB: Miller, Thomas, Gillislee, Gray FB: Rodriguez, Lane TE: Clay, Sims, Egnew, Miller WR: Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, Bumphis, McNutt, Tyms, Fuller, Pruitt, Davis, SMITH OT: Clabo, Martin, Thomas, Yeatman, Adams, MCDONALD OG: Incognito, Jerry, Samuda, Garner, Louis, BARKER OC: Pouncey, Brenner DT: Soliai, Odrick, Starks, Randall, Martin, Francis, Robertson DE: Wake, Vernon, Jordan, Shelby, Okpalaugo, Applewhite, ONYENEKWU LB: Ellerbe, Wheeler, Misi, Trusnik, Spitler, Jenkins, Freeny, Kaddu, Robinson, Clay, Hinds, WILLIAMS CB: Grimes, Patterson, Carroll, Davis, Taylor, Stanford, Posey, Presley, JONES S: Jones, Clemons, Wilson, McCray, Kovacs, JOHNSON ST: Fields, Denney, Sturgis
Jelani Jenkins was getting a handful of reps with the first team defense, saw him read a screen very well.. That's a good sign that he will make the team.
IMO, Jenkins was drafted to be a special teams phenom and hopefully, down the road, develop into a third down nickel LB. I think that will happen.
After this season, Misi is a free agent. Jenkins from a physical skill set, fits in well with Ellerbee and Wheeler. He just has to play up to his ability. It happens sometimes that 4th rounders get cut after their first camp, but generally speaking they get a year to prove their potential.
