Samuda was a rookie last year... so he's had a full NFL offseason...

I'd like to say Samuda's had was the cause but in one play, he got beaten on an outside in move across his face where he seemed to expect Pouncey's help. After the play Pouncey's body language seemed to indicate a WTF response to Samuda. More a blown block or mental error than a hand in that case I think.

    Just a weak performance.

But I get it. We don't have a lot of great options at RG so we need to root for a guy like Samuda to surprise us and be good vs the ones.

I can see the waiver wire being very active for our O-line... Other than RG, I think camp is going well. About halfway through camp, and finding steady progress.

I wasn't in that contingent. I've always felt Jerry needed more work than he's gotten (until last year), and thought he was a better solution at T than Columbo.

Are people that concerned over the RG position? I just don't see it personally, sure the performances there haven't been great so far but we've got two names in Louis and Jerry coming back well before the first real game who should be 1 and 2 on the depth chart.

Sure Jerry had a uneven season last year but he was a rookie, changing positions from college and too heavy so i'd expect him to be better this year. Added to that you've got the guy penciled in as the starter in Louis who's already practicing and played pretty well last year on a line that was otherwise awful.

Even if both of them can't play you've got Samuda and Garner as back up's, i know Samuda did poorly last week but he hasn't got a lot of experience and is moving from center so he should show improvement even if he isn't someone you'd be comfortable with for any length of time.

Just to clarify: I only WISH I were actually at practice. I was commenting on what I'm seeing in my timeline. :-)

I think you're confusing Jerry and Martin... All 5 positions are vital, but RG is usually the easiest of the 5 to fill.

My bad, i don't know why i typed that, he certainly wasn't a rookie must of gotten confused with a different train of thought.

I don't disagree that the position is important, just think we're fine there with the options already on the team.

too much concern for offensive line
    1) Louis is the starter & is sitting out as much as possile before the Sassoon begins resting his already "healed injury"
    2) Jerry will be his back-up
I'm more concerned with Garner's shoulder injury at this point

    Jon Martin-Richie Incognito-Mike Pouncey-Lance Louis-Tyson Clabo

Chris Perkins had some interesting tidbits in his Mike Wallace article.

I thought he said he'd like for the starters to play the whole 1st half. Whether they do would be subsequently up to Philbin.

Didn't see this posted, my apologies if it was:

-- Tannehill deep to Wallace about 50 yds. Excellent throw & catch. McCray & Carroll defending. Who says they don't throw deep?

"McCray & Carroll defending" is a little bit of an exaggeration of their abilities wouldn't we say? Acting as obstacles perhaps... lol...

JK... Glad to hear that Tannehill and Wallace are wowing the populace.

Warn him? What is he a baby? Not a big deal but I can't imagine Dan Marino kowtowing to a WR :D

Last year, Jerry was rated the 25th best pass blocking guard by PFF and the 5th worst run blocker. Louis was the 18th best pass blocker and the 6th worst run blocker.
In comparison, Richie was the 17th best pass blocker and the 25th best run blocker. 81 total guards who played at least 25% of their team's snaps.
