Jon Martin got beat on more than one play. He had a play where he got put on his butt, he had a play where he got beat and Wilber was allowed to harry Tannehill, he had a play where he got pushed right up to Tannehill's back and would have gotten beat for a pressure if the ball wasn't out in less than 2.0 seconds.

What I'm saying is you're talking up plays where Jake Long didn't allow a pressure on Bradford but he did get put on his butt, while at the same time not even mentioning when Jon Martin gets put on his butt, because ultimately he didn't allow the pressure on Tannehill. It's unequal treatment.

But it sounds like you're admitting that you have every reason to treat the two unequally so I suppose it's a moot point.

I didn't see a play in the preseason game where J Mart got put on his butt? Sure he got beat badly once, but it wasn't like he was ran over like Long was.

Different play from the one where he allowed Wilber to pressure Tannehill.

    I'm talking about this one.

At the bottom of the rush, Kyle Wilber gives Jon Martin a forearm shiver that sends him flying.

In all fairness it looks like Wilber shakes Martin at the end there and Martin's momentum carries him forward and he falls down. Doesn't look like martin was overpowered and run right through (doesn't look like a core strength issue).

He was knocked to the ground by Wilber's punch at the bottom of the rush.

Uhm, not sure what you are seeing in there Ck, it looks like the play was designed for Martin to ride him outside to create a throwing lane, add in Wilber did not knock Martin off of his footwork, he is still in position to continue blocking him.

When Wilber blew around Martin, thought there was a problem, on that one not seeing a sort of *** over tea kettle the way Jake was treated.

What am I seeing? I'm seeing the actual play. What are you seeing? Because the final few frames of the moving GIF pretty clearly show Martin being thrown to the ground.

Up top, the ball was out at that point, if you watch Jake the rusher was far closer and within touching distance of Bradford, in Martin's play he had ridden him well past the pocket.

Martins execution wasn't perfect but I'll take that over the Jake gif every day. Not an OL guru though either. Even so, he ran his man further from a QB that looks to be deeper in the pocket as well. Not a stellar play by Martin, but you can certainly do worse if nothing else.

That out of the way...I just dont understand what happened to Jake. He fell off SO much its hard to believe hes the same guy O_O

Point being, I think, if Keller was covered and Ryan had to look elsewhere, RT may have been clocked because Martin didn't sustain his man

Add Dion Sims. Before preseason is over you'll see him block to spring a big run for a RB (probably sealing the edge on an outside zone run) and you'll see a playaction TD from inside the 15 at some point. I'm so high on this kid.

That particular play - I'm of the opinion Martin got his man far enough back RT has to get the ball out or step up in the pocket if his man is covered. Thats the magic you see in brady/peyton/lucks pocket presence.

Is that asking too much for a 2nd year guy? maybe...

QB stepped up, threw the pass. Bingo. That play was hardly detrimental to Martin.

    Your wrong..

Martin did not once get beat like Jake got beat three times, not like that no sir..I wish I could post all three times where jake got beat as badly as he did and compare, you would be proven wrong on your assessment.

I'm not admitting anything except that I thought Martin showed me he might be able to go from really bad to below average..

Your accusation makes no sense considering I have projected Jon martins career accurately..I gave the board my honest opinion if his reps last week.

As it pertains to jake, I thought he once was the best tackle in the game fairly recently, to see him get manhandled to that degree, at his age, after me believing and stating all last year that he wanted out, I thought I'd put a little sugar on top baby..

Yum. I don;t eat cheese anymore, or any dairy so I miss things like potatoes au gration and mashed potatoes with butter and cream.

The wife and I are Vegas, so I probably won't eat during the game (steam it to laptop in room) but we're going for a nice gourmet Greek dinner at Milos in the Cosmopolitan after :) Stk at Aria tomorrow.

    GO DOLPHINS!

BBQ is GREAT for imparting flavor so you need less fat for flavor. Unfortunately the smoke and any charring are carcinogens... but hey, life ain't perfect.

Those potats sound amazing. But off the menu for me. lol.

    :dunno:

Do know it was a short set protection with the ball coming out quickly and Jake was steamrolled, as if he had no core strength, tbh, he's never really been right since injuring his knee v Dallas in the preseason then playing on it.

Based on the new, refreshed NFL stance on celebrations (old rule, new firm stance), his sack dance will be a 15 yard penalty.

clearly something wrong with Jake, and I'm glad as hell that we didn't sign him to the contract the Rams did. (one year wouldn't have been the end of the world though). Looks like back/shoulder maybe both, and he just isn't as strong as he used to be. As opposed to Jonathon Martin... who, in that play from CK/medi appears to be pushed aside rather than on his ***. not a strength thing IMO.. more of a technique issue. But I'm no expert.

heres the thing, theres two more of jake just like it, hence the reason for my description, and there's a run play where the guy puts his *** on the ground sideways, jake bounced off him..just sayin..I've never seen jake that bad in one quarter..

Martin's trying to push him around the QB, Wilber disengages and Martin's left off balance. Good for Wilber. Too bad for him though, all that work and Incognito is sitting there waiting for him like he's a Ruth's Chris Porterhouse.

    Well away from here
It could be that people knew Martin was weak and needed to get stronger. And that Jake built a reputation of being a brute. It do find it surprising that some are surprised that Jake got bullrushed. He has always had issues with it. He was always good for one of those a game. It used to be because he tried to get back into position so quickly, that when his form wasn't right he would be on his heels and in prime position to let that happen. Nowadays it seems like he can't bend as well, and as such he is playing tall only exasperating the situation.

Jake won because of his hand use, not his feet. He has lost a step it seems along with a loss of flexibility making him now more of an average tackle. His shoulder injury may also still affect him.
