I was impressed a lot with Bump, but was not really all that surprised. Keenan Davis was the biggest and most pleasant surprise for me.
I think he is just as good as a 5, which is where we played him when he first joined the team. Until 2010, there was no thought of playing him elsewhere until the short move to NT before the Odrick injury.
Despite the lack of talent, the Jets get as much NFLN air time as any team in the league. Too bad 90% of football fans are not as excited about seeing and hearing about The Great Jets QB Battle as the nitwits at NFLN seem to be.
I disagree I think Miami has the ugliest helmets I mean the new logo more then anything else. it would have been cool if we had a dark color helmet though. I agree with the first part but I hope the pats have the worst season so I would be happy if the pats finished last but that may not happen.
That's because a fair portion of their staff are stej fans, including host Mark Kriegel, who has written a book about Namath and worked for the NY Post and Daily News... he mentions them constantly (and annoyingly) http://www.nfl.com/news/author?id=09000d5d82aec709
I'm not sure what your point is here. Players are always allowed to re-sign with the team starting at a certain point in the off season, but the new contract doesn't go into effect until the start of the new league year. Did you think I meant that Miami would not be allowed to try and re-sign him as he headed into free agency just like every team in the entire NFL can do with every pending free agent?
Kriegel on NFL AM does not impress me. He always seems like he is half pissed off. Would it hurt to smile and relax sometimes?
He was actually praising Lamar Miller as the next unknown star in the making from the "HOF Edition". I was surprised... http://www.nfl.com/videos/miami-dolphins/0ap2000000226725/Hello-My-Name-Is-Hall-of-Fame-Game-Edition
I wonder why that Nicole chick always refers to Mark Kriegel by his last name, instead of his first name, like she does with Eric Davis and Steve Wyche? He did smile in that clip, but it didn't look natural and relaxed. It seems to me like referring to someone constantly by their last name only is a way to make them seem like a historic or iconic figure, unless the figure's first name is unique enough to identify a person.
Although to be fair, most people in Oakland agree this is not much of a competition. Matt Flynn is winning the job handily. Tyler Wilson has been shoved to the 4th string behind even Matthew McGloin. And you forgot Buffalo having a "competition". Although that's not going to shape up to be much of a competition either as they've been creaming themselves over E.J. Manuel from day one. And now didn't Kevin Kolb hurt himself or something? In a situation like that I understand why you have the guise of a competition going, so that the veterans can see one guy as being deserving of starting over the other, but at the same time there's no doubt who is starting day one. For some reason the coaches have to put on the show and say all these things that insist that Kevin Kolb is the favorite, and the media gladly plays along for whatever reason, but we all know damn well what's going to happen. Same is really true in Philly. Everyone SHOULD damn well know that Michael Vick is the guy that transitions Chip Kelly's offense to the NFL. That's why he was brought back. There's never been any doubt in my mind who starts day one over there. Nor should there be any doubt in anyone else's mind. They're just hoping a legit competition brings out the best in Vick, because he's his own worst enemy when he's comfortable. And they're right. But I do hear what they're saying that Matt Barkley will probably end up starting at least 4 games this year.
do we cut Daniel Thomas in this hypothetical? What's the point if carrying 4 (plus thigpen) RBs if we have to sign one if our starter is down. Makes no sense otherwise. Glad to see Jonas Gray playing well and is healthy. Kid might be a star. At worst, a quality contributer, imo.
Question: I've noticed Randy Starks has been absent the last few days. Does anyone have any info other than excused absence? Im starting to think maybe we're shopping him around. Precedent shows that we move guys that miss camp time, Odrick is playing at that position and he's absent from practice (injury avoidance). Hate to lose him but maybe now is the time for best value. I keep track of alot of news but its so quiet about Randy.
Or, Kramer. Both of them were know by just their last names, though we did learn Kramer's first name at one point, no one regularly referred to him by it.
Doubtful we could get any pick worth his ability as a player, since he is on a one year guaranteed contract that could not be renegotiated if he were traded
Perhaps they did. I was just thinking about how the Jags to my knowledge have gotten no camp coverage from NFLN. I think every other team has.
Thanks, I thought he could still work out a long term contract with us or another team. But if he's stuck on that franchise tender for this year. Guess the value is minimal thanks. to much cash to pay plus picks
I would think about cutting Daniel Thomas but it would also depend on his special teams value. As I've said before I do expect Daniel Thomas to be at a career peak this year, though for him that peak is probably not going to be very high. Injuries happen and I'm reluctant to ditch a guy that is peaking. I was never a huge fan of Tony McDaniel but I always said the same thing about him, when he was in a contract year searching for that first multi-million dollar contract of his career, there was no reason to cut him because he was going to be in peak performance mode. Just ride the wave temporarily, while he's cheap. That didn't mean I thought he should start or anything, though.
