Certainly from a pass rush perspective we are very well geared up for an assault on Brady this year. And don't forget Ellerbe and Wheeler being good blitzers. Jamar Taylor is too. We haven't added him to the mix yet. Very well geared up.
Problem is, I very much suspect the Pats are going to switch up and run the ball more this year, w/power /Blount But teams like the Saints won't be able to sit back and just toss the ball around the lot with no pressure, real question is the offense imo. Games should not be over if we are 2 Td's down in the 3rd qtr.
And I don't believe anyone has mentioned the penalty he drew when he forced the tackle to commit the "hands to the face".
Found this on youtube, I don't know if it has been posted before, didn't see it on any other thread...
I know he put a good hit on someone, otherwise I could not really follow how he was doing. Would love to poach a Jerrel Freeman type Lb from the CFL..dude quietly had 200+ tackles last yr.
Dion looked much stronger than I thought, he had a nice game and made a very good impression on me. I'm trying to post a youtube link of all his snaps yesterday that I don't think was posted anywhere else, but it's "under review by a moderator" probably because I have a little amount of posts.
I liked how he looked as well. People were saying he was the best performer of the evening and I just didn't agree with that. Sounds like you don't either.
To me last night Dion Jordan was Dion Jordan. People are surprised he looked stout against the run. For the life of me I can still not figure out how people looked at his tape at Oregon and decided he's bad against the run. He dropped back in a zone on that long yardage down and managed to come down and tackle the runner well short of the sticks. We've seen that kind of thing at Oregon plenty as he played in space all the time. His pass rush was productive, promising, but he didn't get any clean sacks and he also faced some poor competition so you're still left wondering how it's going to look against the Joe Thomas' of the world. All of it is just so...Dion Jordan. Dion Jordan had the most Dion Jordan outing he could've had.
It was the play where Shelby got the sack. 2nd quarter I believe. The QB stepped up as Jordan went by.
I agree with you that Pouncy was a better performer. He looked like a beast on the line. I am excited about him as he looked better than I thought he would at this moment. Mostly due to his injury. Plus when you draft someone who is a great athlete, there is always a question as to whether it will translate on the field. To me it looks like it will. Of course that is only based on one game. Plus he actually made a solid text book tackle. Last night's tackling was brutal.
Gotta admit, he looks pretty good in that video! Whatever people tended to doubt Dion Jordan prior to the Draft...gotta be nervous watching that. But I'm sure they satisfy themselves by saying it was Darrion Weems and Andre Smith, not Tyron Smith and Jason Witten. And that's fair. But he still looked pretty good, lol.
I'm watching the video here and I don't know if I'm over my head here but to me, in his last few snaps it looks as if he isn't trying as hard as in the beginning of the game. Maybe the coaches told him to ease off a little as to avoid injury?
Yeah, most likely...it just seemed to me like he could've pushed a little harder and chose not to, yet still was effective.
The sack he got when Dion Jordan flushed out the quarterback was something I felt was missing from last season. Wake flushed out the quarterback many times, however there were many times when no one else was there.
Was it Kheeston that had the sack early, where he he was being blocked and just grabbed the QB with one arm and stopped him cold?
You're a mod, you're always wrong. Just ask Boik, he'll tell you aren't wrong, thereby proving my point.
The freestyler baby. Yo Heath Evans,243 lbs is all you got to say son, lol, some of the worst analysis I've seen, and I'll tell you why, in all of his obvious hate of our team, he always seemed to forget the kids strengths, in the literal sense of the word, or any other sense, he forgot to mention the kid has the makings of the perfect defensive football player.. Planet theory size on a player that moves like someone 6'2, competitive nature, extreme toughness (see playing with torn shoulder, and almost being burned to death), great teammate (see telling agent to piss off I wanna play ball at report to camp because its important to my teammates to let them know I'm a team player) work ethic, speed, and something I've said a couple times pre draft, a little nastiness inside..hehehehehehe, makes me all giddy. I really like the way Jordan used his hands in college (insert funny me joke here) he uses his hands to rip players away from his body better than a lot of the great pros already, his leverage, strength (if you know what to look for you knew) and his hand use was the reason why I didnt worry about him on the edge against the run, Offenders will hold Dion Jordan a lot, Dion nonos likey being held, and he WILL rip your stinkin hands away from his body in aggressive fashion ( watch him take hold of the tight end and literally throw him to the ground, almost a 360 in the air..That boy is nasty I'm tellin yea, and that nasty *** is all ours. I'll tell you what, it looks like his shoulder is already feeling better, his deek moves were excellent on two of the pressures, he beat his man without engaging kinda like a running back deeking out his would be tackler, he used his arms freely, and I believe they started to double team him...Lol. The play where he dropped in coverage, like CK said, this is what he does man, that lateral explosive agility is off the chain, dude went south, noth and west, covered about twenty yards and wrapped it up baby textbook style.. Man that was fun..
Jesus Christ with the Heath Evans stuff. Let it go. He's not the only guy that didn't like Dion Jordan coming out. Pretty sure our own alen1 was bad mouthing Jordan the majority of the time in the run up to the Draft.
He's got a tremendous amount more of respect and goodwill than Evans does, and for obvious reasons. Alen has pretty specific technical concerns, and I think he softened on them a bit before the draft.
I saw him yesterday in review of this game, the question was, how will Dion Jordan impact this team in 2013, his answer was he's 243 lbs.". If he keeps spewing garbage out his foaming mouth I'll keep his obvious bias in the light. Why don't you quit defending him.
Hmm, think he listed as even heavier then that Deej Either way, as soon as he learns a JT type stiff arm to go with his other traits he'll join the Wake/Ware/Matthews sack leader derby
Damn Dion Jordan is a giraffe. So tall when he stands up in the one play where he drops back. Imagine if we hear by next year he's watched every single snap of JT's career. He could do worse than emulate JT.
