I missed all his plays and won't be able to watch the game til later, but I'm hearing some things from people that I respect that he looked marvelous with a ceiling that you can't touch..

Did we get it right movin up or what baby??

I heard about one play where he dropped in the middle of the field like a corner and made a beautiful open field tackle? Heard he was slipping past offenders on his way to the Qb?

And all I'm hearing is how shocked folks are at how strong he is.?

Looks like the eval on him was good, including how strong he is relative to the way he's built..

    Please post your giddiness..

I went to the game and was pretty pleased with what I saw from Jordan. Have to say his frame does remind me a lot of JT. He was active and got a couple of QB pressures. On one, he flushed the QB into Shelby for his second sack. He did drop back into coverage almost as a middle linebacker in one third down and made a nice open field tackle. I love his size. He looked good! Can't wait to see his development for the next few years

Im just tempering my expectations of the kid. I'll save my jubilation for his first sack/strip. :) im sure that will be sooner rather than later.

My unprofessional opinion was that he looked very disruptive and was applying a lot of pressure on the snaps he played. He was fun to watch.

I thought he played well enough, but it's not like he hit the field and trumpets blared. He looks like a guy we can work with, I'm just not going to anoint him the next JT after a single preseason game.

I'm excited knowing that just based on the glimpse we caught of him in the HOF Game, working as a DE for all but 1 snap, that there's a LOT more he can do within this scheme. He was stout at the point, moved well, and clearly has the burst that was advertised. I'm pretty intrigued to see how they could use him against different offensive looks. If he can consistently play with good leverage and develop a counter move to the inside, lookout!

On a night where there were quite a few missed tackles, I was impressed with his open field tackle. It ended the drive as well. I was impressed on his pressure too. He was really close to getting a sack/strip.

Dion Jordan was the brightest spot, IMO, for the Fins last night. Its easy to get overshadowed with so much uninspired and unimpressive play, but this kid looks like he is going to be one of the very good players (Aldon Smith-like skill).

What impressed me was that he did it so nonchalantly like, "Oh, yall didn't know?" He'd go wreak havoc then come back to the sideline for a cold Gatorade and go back to his hohum stare. He looks like he belongs there and he knows it. He full expected to perform as he did.

derrick shelby wasn´t to shabby either, also chad bumphis although he didn´t catch that ball that was intercepted and taken back for the TD, is now officially on the map for the 5th or 6th receiver spot imo

Dion's going to be a stud. What a unique player. Held his own on the goalline, nice pursuit tackles from behind with that range and leap he has, some pressure off the edge. Awesome.

I took some pics from his play where he kind of dropped in coverage, he is the middle guy with DL
    [IMG]

short before the snap he drops back like 5 yards, next to the referee

and then he makes the tackle

Dion Jordan wasn't the best performing player on the field I don't think. Not by a margin. Maybe he was the brightest spot relative to expectations or aspirations, but I don't think he was the absolute best performing guy out there. That honor belonged to either Mike Pouncey or Chad Bumphis, I think.

What surprised me is how developed he was physically, I'd expected a sort of whippet like tall stringy player, but he appeared to have some guns poking out of those uniform sleeves.

I'd bet Kevin Coyle has to call his Dr after practices for an erection lasting over 4 hours having Jordan and Wake and Jones on his unit.

Tossing a ball up into the air for a pick 6 that he did not hustle after to try and make a play is not really what I'd call "playing well" Ck.

Was a bit surprised by McNutt, I thought he was a jitterbug type, but that guy has some size on him. I suspect Philbin just does not go for the Tavon Austin sized Wr's

While I don't think he was the best performing player. I liked how it looks like his athletism looks like it has a good chance of transfering to the NFL.

Especially hearing about how slowed down he was going to be at this time due to his shoulder injury.

Dion looked fantastic. He had a few official pressures but you could seem him collapsing the pocket and being disruptive basically every snap I saw him play. What was even more impressive to me was his play on the goal line...he owned down there and this is supposed to be his weakness. He has a real fiery attitude too; he was really close to a sack/strip and you saw him clap his hands together because he knew he just missed it...the kid wants to compete/play and it showed up every snap.

Not sure how much of that was actually Bumphis' fault. It looked like he went to sit down in a hole in the zone, and Moore kept leading him expecting him to continue on with that drag route. If I had to guess, it looked like Bumphis actually made the correct call...

  34. MrClean

Bumphis made up for that play though IMO. The catch where he came up inches short of a 1st on 4th, he really got popped and hung on. He also made a 1st down with his YAC on one play where he gave ground to get around to the outside. The sort of play where when Bess would try that by giving a little ground he'd come up being tackled short of the sticks. I'm definitely as excited about our little Bumphis as I was about Bess as a rookie if not more so.

Hmm, I may have to call my Dr for an erection lasting more than 4 hrs seeing that one..:shifty:

I'd guess they are reviving the Tiger/Elephant role for Dio's (trying out a new nickname) unique skill set.

Of all of the passrushing prospects I've seen from Wake to Miller to Orakpo, Dio is the only one who can do those things and do them fluidly, he has really loose hips and can turn and run as well as anyone I've seen since Adalius Thomas or Derrick Brooks in his prime.

This is one of the reasons why I was so buzzed when we took him instead of that dumbass LT that the commentariat thought we "should" draft #3 overall.

    A) look at that ankle flexion, Wake and Vernon and Davis can do it, that is one of the signs of a good passrusher

    B) Notice the tackles' feet, he's got, Dio could shed him easily

    C) Jordan kept one arm free, did not give up his chest

I'm loving the new approach on Defense, even Derrick Shelby could be talked up save for he consistently was getting pinned inside on toss plays to his side.
