8:00 PM on NBC. That being said, according to our schedule we play 5 Preseason games while all the other teams play only 4 Preseason games; is that correct? ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!
Yes because we are playing in the Hall Of Fame game. Teams that play in this game have an extra preseason game.
Interesting. I guess you learn something new everyday; I don't know if this makes me a bad fan though since I am just noticing it though. Additionally, I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing for us. Probably will help our coaching choose the last 7 or 8 spots on the roster, but hopefully it doesn't lead to any set backs.
Philbin signed the team up so they can get in an extra pre-season game, and start training camp a week before everyone else.
That's 0430 on Monday morning over here in the "Stan". Hope I'm back from mission by then. Rugby's been an okay substitute, Arena Football a better one but I NEED FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm bummed. I figured out how to plan my summer roadtrip to go to the game, but all the decent seats were sold out. Instead, going to use my money to take the kids to Hershey Park. bummer
Who gives a crap....it's the cowgirls for Christ sake. Who gives a crap about the cowgirls????? My nephew's going to disown me now!
Don't worry about the HOF game. I'm going to watch every second but even for a preseason game, this means absolutely nothing. Devlin will be in by the third series.
Wallace and hart sitting out the scrimmage makes me think they sit out the game too. With binns gone and now Mathews hurt, one more blow and that units back to paper thin
I'm away for the game, with no internet access or TV...bad timing! I'll be watching as soon as I get back though, looking forward to that more than the trip we're doing!
Let's start with the players that we probably won't see playing all that much. Unfortunately that starts with Ryan Tannehill. He won't play much. Nor will Lamar Miller. Even though we'd like to find out if Jon Martin is that bad or Olivier Vernon/Dion Jordan that good, I imagine both Jon Martin and Tyson Clabo (as the two linemen with their spots fully locked up) will leave after maybe two series. They COULD take Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey with them, though it's harder to say since they're experimenting with those guys a little. If the scrimmage is any indication, we might not see Mike Wallace out there for more than a couple of plays, and after Brian Hartline strained his calf just by warming up for this scrimmage we could be lucky if we see Hartline for a single play. Dustin Keller will come out quickly. On defense, I don't expect to see Paul Soliai or Randy Starks for very long, and Cameron Wake maybe even less than that. Two series, max. Odrick and Vernon might play longer. Wheeler and Ellerbe might play longer. Brent Grimes will not. Reshad Jones will not. Chris Clemons will not. Richard Marshall and Dimitri Patterson may. Koa Misi may. I certainly hope we're going to get a healthy dose of Dion Jordan. He seems recovered from his shoulder surgery. He's now taking full contact. He'll have more than a week of full contact drills under his belt by the time we get to the game. I would hate to see the coaches have him in for a scant couple of series and then try and sit on him the rest of the way. As the hot shot #3 overall pick, fans are going to want to see this guy play and he's not a starter or anything so he should be playing. Overall though I think we're going to see a lot of Jeff Adams, Nate Garner, Josh Samuda, Dallas Thomas and Lance Louis in the first half and into the second half. At receiver we'll see a bunch of Marvin McNutt, Brandon Gibson, Brian Tyms, perhaps Chad Bumphis and Jeff Fuller as well. We're probably going to see a lot of Daniel Thomas. We'll see a lot of Charles Clay and Dion Sims. On defense we'll see a lot of Derrick Shelby, Kheeston Randall, Vaughn Martin and Olivier Vernon. As usual, we'll see an s-ton of Jason Trusnik. We'll probably also see a bunch of Jon Freeny and Austin Spitler. Then there's Richard Marshall, Dimitri Patterson, Nolan Carroll and perhaps some Will Davis right in the first half. You'll see a bunch of Jimmy Wilson and Kelcie McCray. The guys I'm most interested in? QB Pat Devlin RB Daniel Thomas RB Mike Gillislee RB Jonas Gray FB Evan Rodriguez TE Dion Sims TE Michael Egnew WR Marvin McNutt WR Brandon Gibson WR Chad Bumphis WR Brian Tyms OT Jeff Adams OG Josh Samuda OG Lance Louis OG Dallas Thomas OT Will Yeatman DE Dion Jordan DE Olivier Vernon DE Derrick Shelby DE Vaughn Martin LB Alonzo Highsmith LB Lee Robinson CB Will Davis CB Nolan Carroll DS Kelcie McCray DS Jordan Kovacs
I wouldn't be surprised if these guys sat out completely: Cameron Wake Mike Wallace Brian Hartline Dustin Keller Mike Pouncey Brent Grimes I'd expect Tannehill to be out there at most 10 plays. I'd be surprised if ANY starter is out there longer than a quarter (except for Samuda if he starts and of course the WR's replacing 82/11). That goes for guys like Vernon, Misi as well.
I expect Tannehill to play two series, Moore to finish off the first half, and then Devlin playing the entire second half. I don't see any players sitting. I imagine they will all get a series.
Gridironking, I love the avatar I've been saying that for awhile! Really interested to see how Samuda and our TE's look. I agree with CK that unfortunately we probably won't see much of Martin, I want visual proof that he is improved all we keep hearing about are all these sacks
Another guy that I've talked about liking since before the draft is Jeff Adams. I think he must have had a rough start to camp because he got some negative press right away on like the first day, and I think he allowed Olivier Vernon that strip-sack last night. But I'm still interested in seeing how he does in preseason. I think if you be patient with him, you may have a nice backup tackle. VERY athletic guy. As I've said for a while, I'm more intrigued with him than Will Yeatman. Position switches always sound fun and intriguing but the number of times they actually work out is pretty low. Joe Philbin himself gave the Yeatman thing a lot of weight by talking about it multiple times and then even moving Yeatman to right guard so he could potentially compete for a starting spot, but that experiment lasted like half a minute and then they put him back at tackle where he is now sitting behind my guy Adams.
Of course I'm excited to see Dion Jordan too, he sounded awesome last night! Any new updates on Jamar Taylor's hernia issues or timetable for his return?
I'm...already wearing my new Tannehill jersey and working out my middle finger to be in game shape by Sunday,
jesus man, are you serious, where have you been the last months, i don´t know when the schedule came out, but it must have been right before the draft
Haha, your an Iowa fan? I love the "rivalry" that the Big Ten has said that Purdue-Iowa has. I ran into some Iowa fans at the bars the other night and we were laughing about that and how that is actually listed as one, there's no hate at all between the two schools at all.
I pegged you for a double bird guy...but then i remembered you need the other hand to hold your baby...who's holding your beer.
I had no desire to have a kid for at least 5 more years but now I kind of want to train a baby to be my beer holder...that sounds convenient!
We know what the starters can do .I am actually looking forward to seeing playing time for the draft picks and newcomers .Check out the bite factor for them.Could there be any future starters and stars among them? Thats all part of the fun of being a hard core fan.
I dunno... but the last time I made a bet (last preseason) I completely forgot the terms and what the bet was. So you've been warned.
