Orlando was the CLEAR winner of that trade. That trade makes GM Rob Hennigan look like a genius. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
^^THIS. He was INSANELY GOOD for a few years until his back gave out from carrying the Magic to first round playoff losses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There are other players in the league, yes. Other players potentially in the 2014 free agent class who would be worth a max contract and you should be excited about? Not many.
First of all, the Heat have only been around for 25 years so to knock us for winning "only" 3 championships in that time is silly. The Heat is arguably the most successful modern expansion franchise in any sport. Second, what the Lakers did with george Mikan is not particularly relevant now to fans or to free agents. Lastly, I suggest you take an actual realistic look at the 2014 free agent class. LeBron is the ONLY franchise changing guy available given Wade's advancing age. That's it (and this is presuming that all potential free agents with opt outs actually opt out). And most of the other good free agents that year are restricted. You're actually far better off waiting for 2015 when Love, Aldridge and Rondo are true free agents.
He didn't knock your franchise. But you made a perfect example of his case by getting all butthurt over nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He did knock my franchise and I'm not butt hurt. All I did was point out that it's stupid to compare a franchise that's been around 25 years to one that's been around nearly 70 years. Of course it is unlikely neigh impossible that the Heat will reach 18 championships. However, since the Heat has been inexistence the championship count is Lakers 5, Heat 3. That's pretty good and shows you how incredibly successfult the Heat has been. Orlando is the only other expansion team that joined with the Heat to even reach a Finals. Minnesota and Charlotte/New Orleans have accomplished nothing in their 25 years. So long story short, in the time that LeBron James has been alive the Heat has been almost as successful as the Lakers (which is remarkable) and what they did with George Mikan or anything pre-Magic for that matter doesn;t matter to anybody except Laker fans.
nobody is sure...but he can come in right away and score. He will average 22 ppg very early on. Now..he either turns into Wade......or he turns into Joe Johnson.
They say he will be the best prospect to come out since Bron.....not comparing him to Bron, but again since...
It doesn't work that way. They can sign one max contract, fit the other under the cap, then figure all the cap holds...THEN sign their own FA under the Bird Rule.
Hold it there chief. First of all...we count from the time that the Heat came into existence, if we are gonna compare franchises. In that regard..we are close. Second of all..we are unreasonably hated...yes....but MORE SO by your fanbase than any other. It's envy and jealousy that we have what you had, and that Laker arrogance won;t allow your fanbase to think that anybody else can have it as good or better. You want us to get some new material? Ok, try this one: The Year the Miami Heat won 15 games, they had better attendance than your Lakers. Explain yourself.
I like him a lot too. I'm not sure I see it on the James Ennis guy...but Myck Kabongo I think could be a steal. Ball handling, athleticism, passing skills, ability to play defense...that's a good combination for the Heat. The thing he's missing is the ability to drain the outside shot consistently when given an open look due to the dominance of the big three, but if I recall right Norris Cole couldn't hit the outside shot to save his life as a rookie, and even now isn't all that great at it. Cole has become a decent offensive player and his effort is all-out at all times. Defense can be suspect at times and I suspect Kabongo's will be as well. Where I think Kabongo could have him is I look at Myck and I see a better passer/facilitator. Really it looks to me like Kabongo might be better at that than both Cole and Chalmers. I think the video in that article with the scout was right, he is a little reminiscent of a Chris Paul that doesn't shoot as consistently. Maybe Cliff Paul.
BTW...the Lakers have 5 championships from when there were color restrictions in the NBA, and one from a defunct league in 1948. (NBL) yep 17!!!!! 17!!!! They also only have 11 of them in Los Angeles. SO, yeah, kiss my ***. it's actually 11.
On the flip side...the Celtics have 17 championships. ALL of them in Boston, and ALL of them post color restrictions.
I didn't even think about the "no blacks" part of it. But that partly explains how a slow footed white guy with glasses was the best player in the league. And that's nothing against George Mikan, but those titles just aren't relevant o anybody except Lakers fans. And they sure as hell aren't relevant to LeBron James or Dwight Howard
From the Heat web site: The HEAT is conducting practice sessions beginning July 4 through July 6 in Miami, prior to heading to Orlando. The HEAT begins summer league play on Sunday, July 7 in Orlando, and will play five games over the six-day event, with a championship day being played on the final day of the league, July 12. The team will then head to Las Vegas, with their first game scheduled for Saturday, July 13. The team will play a tournament style schedule, with a champion being crowned on Monday, July 22. At a minimum, the team will play at least five games. ...... MOOOOEEE RINGZZZZZZZZZ! problem is that if the Lakers win this, they will count it as #18.
Another guy the Heat invited to play in Summer League, D.J. Stephens, evidently has the highest vertical leap the NBA has ever recorded at 46 inches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qG_LJzTe7lg&feature=player_embedded That's him literally kissing the rim. Yowsa. Just call him Goat Jr. Can the Heat loan this guy to the Dolphins if it doesn't look like it's going to work out?
Not disputing that Wiggins is going to be awesome - because by all accounts he'll be great. But Barnes and Shabazz and Drummond have all had similar hyper in recent years. It's easy to forget now, but they were all supposed to be "next" and now are just good, not super star players.
Wiggins going to be great IMO. Will make a nice addition to Miami for the tail end of Lebron's career. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I'm really amazed at how much hype this next FA class is getting. Odds are LeBron stays put - and after him it's mostly over-the-hill guys like Kobe or Pierce or guys that aren't really super stars to begin with.
What an interesting player this D.J. Stephens guy is. His four year dunk highlight reel is ludicrous. That elevator just keeps going up and up and up. There's a moment on every jump when you just know he's going to stop going up...and he keeps going. He would be the most high flying member of the Miami Heat without excluding Lebron James or a healthy-kneed (in his prime) Dwyane Wade, and that's pretty incredible. And I mean high flying as in absolute height, not vertical, as in this guy's head would be higher on the backboard than any member of the Miami Heat's when he jumps. Lebron James is at least 2 inches taller, perhaps 3 inches. Averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks per 40 minutes...at 6'5". Oh and he's got a 0.629 field goal percentage, which obviously includes a lot of action at the rim so it's inflated, but he's got a surprising 0.361 percentage from the three point line and a 0.662 free throw percentage...so it's not like he's a tragic shooter. Averaged 1 turnover per 40 minutes so it's not like he's a turnover machine, either.
I just remembered the Heat have their own D-League team. We can stash them both there if they impress in the summer Oh and the Skyforce logo is now awesome.
Three words can explain why the national media is so frenzied about the 2014 class: "leave Miami, LeBron!"
I got scooped! How did I miss the Skyforce now adopting the Heat's font and a rework into a semi-Heat logo? BTW, I complain that the Dolphins pro shop is slow to bring out new gear... Well..the Heat is having a ***** of a time filling orders. I ordered a ton of stuff on the 27th. The order has still not FILLED! These people ran out of t-shirts and hats! This bandwagon is getting out of control.
NOW THIS..is a great workup and chart on this offseason. Make sure to put this post in the first post int eh new thread. Courtesy of the Wages of Wins Network: http://wagesofwins.com/2013/07/03/the-nba-offseason-list-part-1/
Maybe it's an IPad thing... Either way, I heard some blowhard talking about Detroit trying to get Amare from the Knicks. While I told him Amare is all but untradable with that contract it did make me wonder.
