If the Dolphins want to win now they should have gotten rid of Welker this offseason instead of years ago. Other Expert: Actually, that makes no sense. Heath Evans: Exactly! If the Dolphins want to win they should have grabbed a WR from St. Louis like the Patriots <reaches hand into his jacket pocket so he can tweak his nipple. lets out a slight moan> did with Amendola. Other Expert: Actually, they did, they grabbed Gibson. Heath Evans: See that's precisely why the Dolphins dropped the ball when they traded up and grabbed Dion Jordan with the 3rd overall pick. I have Dion Jordan rated as a 6th Round safety in the draft. Why would you take that poor a safety in the draft if you're in a division with the New England <bites his lip and quivers> Patriots when they just grabbed Amendola? I mean grab a corner or pass rusher when you have to face them twice a year. Other Expert: Actually, Jordan is a pass rushing DE and they grabbed a corner with their second pick. Heath Evans: (Scoffs) Tom <licking his lips> Brady doesn't succumb to pass rushing pressure from the ends or the middle. I played <giggles fondly> with Brady and he told me the only pressure he has a problem with is from his wife when she's pregnant. I find it unconscionable that the Dolphins would not find a way to impregnate Brady's wife, if they want to defeat the Patriots <he can't take it anymore. Seriously, the fans on this site tuning into that preview, to hear the exact same surface level analysis they've spewed over the last few months, is like wasting your freakin time.. I thought that network would aspire to be different...their not...they have so much more room for potential and yet their programming content is subpar...I mean really, the jags version of hard knocks, followed by the 88 chiefs yearbook show, followed by a NFL films show about Bloopers.. Get current, stay current, up your game in terms of analysts, their show research development team is poor imo.

Heath: I think my record speaks for itself. Objectivity is the benchmark of any analyst worth his salt. I objectively think the Dolphins will always be wrong and the Patriots will always bee right. I don't care if the Dolphins win 18 Super Bowls while Dion Jordan goes 18 years with 18 sacks a year, paying that much for Mike Wallace, when Mike Tomlin told me on Facebook, that Wallace has cooties...is just irresponsible team building. You know who didn't sign Wallace? The Patriots.

LT said that Wallace wasn't a #1 receiver. Likes the Interior O-line. Also the addition of Clabo. Weak link is Martin. Nothing on the D. Likes what Joe is doing with the team.
One 3 minute segment, with Lt, and defense doesn't exist in football anymore. Highlight, LT thinks Miller time can be ''great"..... Not sure if he really meant it, or he just said it out of habit.

While his speaking isn't that polished, it's hard to argue with anything he said, good or bad. Overall, I think it's a pretty honest assessment of the offense. Lots of potential, but you have to see what happens when the games start. The O-Line still worries me.

As long as he's not not god awful we will be OK. The best way to protect the QB is staying out of obvious passing situations. That means a solid run game to stay ahead of the chains and a solid defense to avoid big deficits. By the looks of it we should have both. A QB who can get the ball out quickly and/or evade pressure and WRs who can get open quickly also help out.
That's a risky scenario to approach the season GM, and he was god awful last year, lol..catering the gameplan to offset his weaknesses is "no way to go thru life son".. I want to be wrong about this player but knowing that he worked out this offseason is not enough to give me hope..didnt see enough flashes to think some added strength will transform the player.. GM....????..... "Tell me a story.."...tell me you have iso'd him last season and it's going to be ok.....lol
lol..my concern is getting enough time to utilize our new toy..if he's got to rush that deep throw or can't relax his feet in the pocket in his setup, the timing will be off.. Damn I wish I didnt see that clip, I'm trying to forget, I don't even remember those plays..lol
Maybe that is why we keep hearing the importance of RB's blocking... they plan to keep an extra blocker in on passing downs to help Martin. Man, I hope not. He had a bit of the "deer caught in headlights" look last year as a rookie, and maybe Ireland/Philbin are counting on that comfort level to help him immensely as well. It is hard to imagine a professional athlete of his size being weak!
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply catering the game plan to compensate for JMart. Running the ball and consistently and avoiding large deficits should be a priority regardless of who the LT is IMO. In the midst of the Austin-Eifert-Bailety etc fever I was one of the few (only?) people banging the drum to go all in on the OL. I wanted Cooper/Warmack at 12 and a trade up for Menelik or another LT prospect after that. Didn't happen but I'm not complaining. Instead, Ireland napalmed the "Irish never takes risks or playmakers, he loves to draft OL" section of the anti-Ireland fan club. That alone makes me happy about the Jordan pick. Obviously they feel like JMart will be a capable starter at LT, we'll see soon enough. It's a ready made story line and every time JMart get's beaten in camp there will be a half dozen beat writers tweeting about it, so expect some panic articles and threads around this time next month.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I have to believe that Martin was playing out of position (and out of shape) last year. Ireland had every chance to re-sign Jake, trade for Albert or take a blue chip LT in the draft yet he didn't. After months and months of speculation the whole world thought he'd take Lane Johnson, Dion Jordan was the pick instead. It's almost as if the media and fans had it wrong the entire time... It'd be some kinda stupid for Ireland to pass on 3 chances to remove a god awful player at a premium position when he had three chances to do so. The only logical explanation for me is that they feel confident that JMart will be able to play LT and be reasonably effective. Clearly that confidence isn't shared by many outside the Dolphins' facility.
Yeah and not just Ireland. We shouldn't forget that Philbin and the staff have a big influence on the moves which are made
Ask Aaron Rodgers how he felt about Marshall Newhouse being his left tackle the past two years. Now he's going to have Bryan Bulaga over there. Not really sure about that, yet.
I think they are factoring in other ways to protect 17 other than just LT play. Considering they seem to have targeted pass catching TEs and even have Sims LOSING weight to be faster, mixed with the constant emphasis on a supersonic tempo, tells me they expect Tannehill to hold the ball under 2.5 seconds and be on the move. Think about it, the best tackle we have is on the side Tannehill will be rolling out towards. I believe the rule will be if after 2.5 seconds no one is open, then tuck the ball and run.
I've seen about five clips of him this offseason and I know it's just practice, but he has looked better balanced, and he's definitely bigger and stronger, as far as the draft, the defenders I wanted were Dion or Sheldon, for offense I wanted Tavon or Tyler, basically they were 1 A thru D, I didnt think Ireland had the option to go oline because of all the variables leading up to the draft, one of those variables being the selection of Jon Martin last year ( that's his boy), The other being we weren't going to be able to get one of the top 3 tackles so I couldn't justify the guard no matter how good they were over my top 4 players on the board.. We'll see ya know, I see that we could probably get by with him reaching average status, it sometimes just takes two or three clean shots from the left side for a Qb to lose his confidence, I wasn't a big fan of how Tannehill moved in and from the pocket last year, but if Martin doesn't reach average level status, Tannehill has to become more aware of his play making ability and evading pressure is part of that, you know Ryan doesn't have a good sense of backside pressure, combine that with the uncertainty of Martin?, that does worry me.

I agree that he looked better when he made the switch to the left, it was obvious that his movement was better over there, so you think us offering jake the contract we did and dabbling into Brandon Albert shouldn't be looked at as a bit of an indictment?....The draft was different imo for him, I think he made a decision that he was going after an explosive player with the 12th pick no matter what, which was my draft strategy, could pass up on one of those four if available.
IMO Martin will probably reach average status this year. That means he will get beat some (that's what happens to average Ts) and people here will freak out, but it's what most teams in the league, even SB contenders, have. I think that in an offense that will look to pass quickly about 80% of the time that the edge protectors aren't going to be a huge factor the vast majority of the time. In longer down and distance situations they'll probably use a back or TE to help out so it won't all be on the T then either. I think the far bigger factor will be RT's development. I thought his movement and pocket awareness was pretty good after he overcame the injury. I think that a bigger issue for him was that the receivers struggled to get open quickly. That made him hesitate and try to wait on the receivers. I think that Gibson Wallace and Keller were all brought in to upgrade that specific skill. I also see Miller's (and the run game in general) as a big factor. I see RT's ability to run the offense they envision as the key. After that I would say it's Miller ability as a runner and the WR's ability to get quick separation. Then I would list the interior OL and after all that I would worry about the Ts.
I'd like to see rollouts when they want to take clean shots deep..I mean we better see that..A complete and no nonsense approach to going deep, literally, roll him out, tell Wallace to turn it on, and launch it man..
