Part of the article that I don't agree with is the insinuation he can't play at a high level in his mid thirties..He's so much more advanced in his training and nutrition and genetics, he should be good to go til 35 at least. We're gonna have to extend him if he's on par with last year, he's underpaid..
Cam wake in 47 games has 43 sacks, .915.... Next closest..DWare...874 who has played more than twice as many games.. Once the notoriety comes, the holding calls should come in more frequent..
Have been saying that a lot..Dion Jordan will be going against LT's in all likelihood. As for "CFL stigma" about every 7 yrs or so, starting with Warren Moon, a upper level to dominant player has come from the CFL, at least an all pro: Moon Jeff Garcia Brandon Adebayo Cam Wake Brandon Browner A good list really, downside is sometimes you have guys who don't pan out like Qb Casey Printers or John Chick (though a knee injury knocked him out of the league right when he was coming into his own in Jacksonville) In fact, this yr ESPN2 will be broadcasting CFL games as will NBCSN
Wake is a beast, but I wonder why he is on the left side, and does that take some of his notoriety. Being that obvious advantage, should a top-tier DE have even better production on the weaker side? That being said, I don't think anyone will contain our pass rush this year. There are just too many options in the front seven.
He's there for two reasons...first, that's how they've schemed him into this D, even when Coyle came on board, they kept him where he has the best advantage. This not a pure 4-3 D, it's a hybrid and has been for a couple of years and secondly, for the most part, JT was his complementary rusher. His strength was still, even the last few years, against the LT side of the formation. Can Wake flourish on the opposite side, perhaps, but there hasn't been a need to put him there. Now along comes DJ. I suspect this year he will be put in situationally simply to work his way into the league. Next year, after a full offseason of developing his body might be different. This still allows Wake to stay where he has been the most successful...
He's great from that side of the line. Some guys develop their skills on one side or the other and that's where he flourishes. He can really use his right arm leverage to get under and past the RT - and he's as good as any at doing that. Reversing all those techniques to a different side is not altogether easy, either.
