    whelp...

    1. I think Microsoft shot themselves in the foot. Not because of the always on crap... but the price point of $500 is just above the amount normal people want to spend. Didn't Sony teach them that last year? But wait, it comes with Kinect!! Nobody gives a **** about Kinect and motion controls. Didn't Nintendo teach them that? Doesn't look like Microsoft learns from other people's mistakes very well. On a positive note, I think it's bull crap that they're the big bad guys in all of this over the always on thing. While I do think the console having to "phone home" once a day is too much, it's kind of the way of the future. They might be forcing it on people too fast but ultimately it's a profit deal. Publishers will LOVE to have control over loaning licenses and getting a piece of resold games for once. This will make them happy to develop for Xbox One I think. The big questions is, who will have one. Essentially they are making the Xbox One a Microsoft Steam machine. You buy licenses to play a game and download and play them. Except Valve is often heralded as the good guys in the industry. Don;t get me wrong, I love some Steam sales as much as the next guy (add me on Steam, mor911)... But Steam has never done crap for troops.... But Valves rocks dude!!!!!!1

    2. Sony stole the show. $399. No DRM in sight. Thing will probably be hacked within a year. I'm getting a PS4 at launch. Can't wait. I love that they catered to the indie crowd and their launch lineup seems solid. These guys learned from mistakes. They made that silly eye crap an add-on and didn't bundle it up to $500... Well done. Side note: All 8GB of it's RAM is DDR5 /nerdgasm.

    3. Nintendo... Jesus. Well everyone knows that I've been over Nintendo and their crap since the Wii. The Wii U... Well they'll get a Mario, and a Donkey Kong, and a Zelda.... Oh yeah Pikmin also. The fast that all of the big publishers are running for the hills is not a good thing. Even the Wii got a crappy Madden and Fifa port. This is just sad. I literally know one person... ONE PERSON that owns a Wii U. And he's a rich guy that buys everything and uses nothing. I know the Nintendoids will say that Smash Bros, Mario, and Zelda are worth a $300 machine... I personally am far from that. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to play the new Mario and Donkey Kong... But it's not worth my gaming buck. I firmly believe Nintendo should just accept that they're better Software makers that hardware makers and start making PS4 games already. I know, it won't happen... A man can dream right?

Getting Smash Bros on 3DS further solidifies (for me) that I don't need a WiiU at all.

Steams offline made lasts 2 weeks I think. If Microsoft changes it to verify every 2 weeks would people then be ok with it? Would that help the troops? Probably not. People love to rag on Microsoft because they're the big bad guys.

I'm not sure what argument you're refuting. I'm just telling you that Steam has an offline mode. What Steam does and what the Xbox One does are not the same. Steam does the same thing as games you buy from XBLM for the 360; Microsoft did not pattern the Xbox One's connectivity on Steam. Microsoft is doing something more akin to what Ubisoft did with the PC version of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

    Live from the Internet.
Steam is also a PC client. At this point, I say 90% of PC Gamers have a access to internet. Consoles are - and always have been - a different ball game.
I definitely think that Microsoft is waaaay over on this one.
I mean, I had a solid internet connection since 2000, and I didn't move to US until 2003. PC gaming is synonymous with internet. Console gaming is not.

When I went to GameStop this weekend the guy asked me if I wanted to pre-order another controller I said yes because when I play I like to obviously be able too as one controller gets low on battery life, switch it out with the other. He said if you want to play 2 players you had to get the eye.....I told them I use 2, I don't play with another person.

Is that true? Odd if so. The details about this eye are vague kinda.

Also a buddy pre-ordered on BestBuy today and got this......under status.....

This might sound crazy...but why don't you just plug the controller and charge it while playing?

I know the mini USB cords that PS3s come with are fairly short, but I imagine getting a longer mini USB cord is cheaper than buying another controller, no?

Do you really marathon game to that extent? The charge on those controllers lasts for hours. I ran through The Last of Us on one charge…

    1. No, I don't think it charges if the console is off... I could be wrong though. I just turn it on and leave it plugged in when I go to work.

    2. TLOU is freaking amazing. Loooooong time since I played a game so well written that you feel bad for characters. I don't think I'd give it a perfect 10 like the media outlets are, but it's definitely a must buy imo.

No, the power source has to be on. Haven't heard if the PS4 will have a low-power mode that will charge controllers though.

Excellent, though I got increasingly annoyed with the game aspect of it as the game went on, and thought it would have been better as a book, or as a playable movie without "well, it IS a video game" arbitrary combat or stealth moments. Later in the game, you're at a university, and you drop through a hole to an area with 4 or 5 infected people just walking around. By then I had enough: the entire level up to that point was about figuring out if there were still people in the area, and suddenly the game says "oops, not enough video game tropes, have some zombies and a QTE."

The best thing TLUS does is succeed at being a game that isn't fun. I don't mean it sucks, I mean it isn't fun. It's tense, it's oppressive, it's thrilling, but it's not "fun". Elation is not an emotion you will experience in this game... well, maybe in one or two moments near the end.

Hasn't been that long... Bioshock Infinite came out a couple of months ago. TLUS and BI both feel like the same game to me.

I thought for sure Bioshock infinite would be the best game I played all year. I like TLOU more. BI was different for me. I didn't give a crap about the girl. Not that I didn't give a crap, it's more like there's no desperate feel of being in hell. Granted they're very different games. I feel like TLOU did it better. I think the fact that she can't die in BI made it feel like she was never in real danger.

Ellie in TLUS can't die either.

    Until her playable segments, anyway.

I think they're basically the same game. Maybe that's just a function of playing as a grizzled older protagonist voiced by Troy Baker.

Ellie sure can die. Clickers can get her and that little circle thing pops up and you have to save her. They didn't make it annoying to the point where you're constantly having to save her. But it is possible.

I guess it depends on what you receive as fun. I had an absolute blast. It was very tense the entire time. Even the down times when nothing happened I was nervous. I think I beat it in 3 days (3 different sessions) in 13 hours. Loved it.

The Last of Us is fun the same way that Heat-Pacers series was fun. And by fun I mean emotionally draining.

Anyway, since we're no longer talking about E3 in the E3 thread, let me brighten everyone's mood with this wonder of technology.

I feel that Microsoft will make the changes on the fly as they get feedback from the users. I'm keeping my faith in Microsoft on this that a lot of wrongs will be made right. I must say it is extremely shady of them to make microsoft points expire with no refund though.

Microsoft's position is that their users are the publishers.

Microsoft isn't expiring your points, they're converting them to real money and giving you account credit in that amount.

It's still a conversion, though. Better than having those points wiped out the second the Xbox One launches.
