For those that are going to withdrawal between now and the 1st day of training camp, you can enjoy these mini-camp highlights: http://www.miamidolphins.com/media/videos/Mini-Camp-Highlights/154f36ad-b2fb-4dd5-b287-e741bf0cc60a Fortunately, despite not having a rooting interest in the NBA or NHL, the Reds are at least winning (though I don't think they'll make any postseason noise yet again). Enjoy the weekend all.
Can't watch the NBA, but the NHL sure is a lot of fun to watch. Don't care who wins between Boston and Chicago, just sitting back and watching.
Well produced for some highlights, I wonder who does that, that's hard knocks quality... I'm sick of the players and coaches being all damn mix matched..get em the freakin gear man, how hard is that to accomplish..idiotic.
Off thread, and I don't want to complain overly much about losing one game, but it's amazing to me that the Reds can go 14 innings, seven of them with the bullpen with either the lead or a tie game, and their best pitcher - at least their best reliever - doesn't see the field. He warms up four times. He could have had a chance at a four-out save. And Broxton was ailing, yet he saw the field before Chapman. Well, Chapman never saw it. And aside from Chapman (and maybe Marshall who has been on the DL the whole year), the bullpen has been a mess lately. Latos could be 11-0 if not for blown saves. The bullpen is responsible for about seven of the last nine or ten losses. LeCure is slumping (pitcher slumping) and can get no one out of late. Brox is shaky. Simon is Simon, which is okay. Manny Parra shouldn't be on the team. It's bad. No need to reply. They're 12 games over .500. I'm just venting. I wouldn't if the Cardinals wouldn't win.every.single.game.
Two words: 1) Dusty. 2) Baker. The bullpen has been a mess, no argument there. Chapman is essentially going to be a sunk cost when all is said and done. They paid so much for him, but are getting so little out of him. Though, what they have gotten has been very good. I was listening to sports talk radio, and I think this stat is a microcosm of the Reds season. The Reds are 22-4 this year against the Brewers, Cubs, Marlins, and Mets. The Reds are 18-23 against everyone else. For being one of three teams with 40 wins in the MLB, they play some downright AWFUL baseball at times. It's very frustrating, I can't even imagine how Latos feels. He'd have the best record in the league if not for that bullpen. I'm pretty sure he's gone 21 or 22 consecutive starts without recording a loss. The team is going to look pretty different next year IMO, lots of decisions to make. Choo, Arroyo, Bailey, and Latos are all free agents. What do they do with Ryan Ludwick, if he ever comes back? Apparently Nick Massett is somewhere in the farm system still...who knew? There have been several talking heads (mind you these aren't real trade rumors) but a lot of them are pretty hot on the theory the Reds may be interested in Giancarlo Stanton. There was an early season rumor that the Reds were interested in trading Jay Bruce (Mr. Inconsistency) a pitcher, and prospects to the Marlins for Stanton and Jose Fernandez. If that ever comes onto the table, I'd pull the trigger. We'll see how well they do against this tough stretch coming up. After the Brewers this weekend, they've got Pittsburgh for 4, and go out west to face Arizona, Oakland, and Texas, and come back home to host the Giants, and I think they've got a 7 game road trip including 4 at Atlanta just before the All-Star Break. If the Reds are still somehow within 5 games of the Cardinals by then, well, hot damn, I'd be happy. I think that's doubtful, but that's my goal for them.
You have a better chance of having a 3 way with Kate Upton and Scarlett Johansson then the Reds do in acquiring both Stanton and Fernandez.
Lol...I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok, I work all day and I sleep all nite, i dress in women's clothing and hang around in barrrrrs. !!!
Fin D, I know you don't like the Reds, so here are my highlight video "observations". - First player shown is Josh Samuda. He's come a long way from his haircut and having his eyebrows shaved on Hard Knocks last year. - In almost every video or photo I've seen of Brian Hartline, he's been on the left side; opposite of last year. Interesting. - Lot of face time for Rupert Bryan and Ina Liania. Both got cut during mini-camp. - Dan Carpenter still looks like Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy's early seasons. - Interesting to note that Cameron Wake is rushing next to Randy Starks. They were next to each other most of the time last year. - DJ should check out Jonas Gray, who is jacked, if he goes to TC. He'll be DJ's "Cameron Wake's glutes" of the offense. Book it. - Refreshing to see a head coach yelling instructive things rather than just yelling expletives. - The Will Davis interview came on after the highlights. He reminds me of Steve Urkel. Hopefully he plays like Stephon Urkelle.
Not sure what all this fullback and H-back searching says about Lane and Clay. Competition at the least I suppose.
There are some guys I am not hearing about, which probably speaks volumes. I realize the OL will not show up until training camp. I appreciate the comments on Samuda. Pulling for him. Was curious about some of the linebackers, such as Clay, Highsmith, and Hinds, and some of the receivers, like Bumphis and Collins. I guess nothing translates not enough regarding them.
Best part of that highlight is Hart catching that deep slant with his hands in full stride, made the move upfield and stretched out for the goal line, sweet play.
