The jumper is key. If he hits it his whole game is open. San Antonio was disrespecting it and he had nothing else to attack them with.
Wonder if they give less cushion and close out in game 5 or if Pops sees if we will hit our jumpers two games in a row:

I think Pop will continue to dare the Heat to shoot from mid range. The Heat are too strong around the basket.

Might be a recipe for giving up the series. As long as we just make our watermark for jumpers while open they will be buried in points.

He has his mid range back and attacked the boards along with Lebron. The rebounding gave them more chances and better transition baskets.

This series has been so volatile from game to game and even each game within itself.

At some point we have to put two consecutive games together to win this. Can we do it game 5?

When we are the aggressor we are nearly impossible to beat. We need to maintain this intensity. Game 5 is huge, we don't want to rely on winning back to back games even if they are at home.

If we can get this out of DWade I like our chances. Just at some point we have to stretch two wins together. Either tonight and Sunday or game 6 and 7 if we lose on Sunday.

Win game 5 and the Spurs are in one deep dark hole.

I hate series like this. Blowouts everygame by both teams. As someone with no horse in this race, hopefully we can get some decent games from here on out.

I would think it'd be fun to watch without a horse? Never know what you're getting game in and game out.

Well last nights game wasn't really a blowout until late, before that it was a game of good runs by two very good teams.

Would love to see a game 7, in any sport those situations are epic.

How can some compare Lebron to the all-time greats or even suggest that he may be the GOAT? He's a great player, but I just don't find him as exciting as Jordan, Magic, Walton, Kareem, Wilt et al.

Because the measure isn't personal level of excitement, the measure is effectiveness on the court.

That was my take on this game too. Even when the lead ballooned to 11 it felt like a two posession game. Didnt feel like the Heat really took over ironically until Lebron went to the bench and Wade put the vice grips to it in the fourth. Until then every time the Heat tried to pull away the Spurs answered. Which was REALLY impressive to me as the Heat were playing their A+ game and the Spurs wouldn't go away.

I think Parker's hammy affected his second half no matter what he says.

Excitement isn't the measure of greatness. As a matter of fact that's exactly what makes Lebron great. He has had triple doubles where I felt like he had a quiet game. Who on Earth else can have a quiet triple double?

Lebron James going out there during a must-win finals game and having 33 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks with only 1 turnover, yet functioning as just the mashed potatoes to Dwyane Wade's steak on the plates the media are serving the fans the next day, is exactly why he IS one of the all time greats.

Admittedly I don't follow the NBA like I did when I was younger. However, when I watch Lebron I'm just not seeing the all-time greatness.

I still think comparing Lebron (right now) to Jordan is crazy. He is nowhere near Jordan at this point in his career. He is still pretty young though...so we'll see.

Exactly... LeBron can dominate so many different aspects of the game that you don't notice it unless your actively paying attention to it. It's not always about flashy points.

The thing I hate about his game is that he's so much bigger and more physical than half the players he's playing against, he doesn't get the calls that most players would get... instead he just has to play through it.

I'm sure this kind of analysis has been done ad nauseum and I'm also sure people have much more sophisticated ways of looking at it than I do. But I was curious as to the numbers between the two players (Jordan and James).

The first difference is obvious, Jordan scored 30.12 points per game versus Lebron's 27.56. Jordan also had more steals per game (2.35 to 1.73) and offensive rebounds (1.56 to 1.24). He didn't turn the ball over as much (2.73 to 3.30). But James had more defensive rebounds (6.02 to 4.67), way more assists (6.93 to 5.26), slightly more blocks (0.85 to 0.83) and fewer personal fouls (1.88 to 2.60).

Is there a way to kind of unify these things into one number? Probably, and probably one much better than what my instincts tell me to do. But if you look at a field goal assist as being another 2 points scored (since an assist by definition requires that a field goal be made), if you figure possessions (which are either gained by offensive rebounds and steals, or lost by turnovers) result in a made shot 40% of the time, and you figure personal fouls result in 75% free throw shooting...then you have 37.68 "net" points per game from Michael Jordan during his career and 38.33 "net" points per game by Lebron James.

Of course, James has not yet reached the point in his career where he takes a 3 year layoff and then tries to make a comeback with the Washington Wizards...so he hasn't had a chance for a downslope to ruin some of these averages. But then, James is right now in his prime, and if he keeps having some years like he had this year, he'll be dragging his averages upward quite a bit more before he begins that downslope, so hard to say.

Look into PER (Player Efficiency Rating)

For historical context, I always go to Winshares or Wins Produced. Lebron is on par with Jordan at this juncture. it will be an argument over hardware in the end.
