I feel bad that you are that attached to the old one dude, really do..I think the new one is finally, cool, plain and simple, and for some reason I don't feel bad for leaving the old one behind, I think it was just time to do it.

the helmet is really my favorite part of the uniform. The jerseys are almost too plain. As if they've done it on purpose just so they can add to it over time.

No respect for tradition. Everyone is so quick to embrace the perfect season, but not the traditions, logo's from back then. Disgrace.

No one can live in the past guy. We ALL love the Dolphin's storied history, the accomplishments, and the players. Most of us can rattle off names, dates, games, funny anecdotes, etc... about these from the past 40 years, so ease up on accusing "everyone" of not continuing to embrace and appreciate the traditions.

The Logo didn't help them achieve any of that and these guys all seem to love the new uni's, the return to the traditional colors, and the logo. No one has come out against it. I agree it is a radical departure from the leaping dolphin in front of the sunburst, and I too would have preferred they kept the new logo closer to that, but it's still a Dolphin doing a Dolphiny sort of thing in front of a sunburst, so the central animal and both elements are still there... that is honoring the tradition to a certain extent...

I know you'll enjoy celebrating your patriotic tradition on July 4th, as always, wearing your powdered wig, knee high britches and waistcoat. Anything less would be disgraceful, of course. I mean, you can't have tradition without the traditional garb.

Pathetic...really,really PATHETIC. There really is no respect for tradition and heritage amongst this fan base simply because the organization has been irrelavent for so long. Now you have a horrible owner who doesn't give a damn and fans like you who don't care either. As I said.... PATHETIC.

No, I think the lack of respect for tradition stems from the old logos just not looking good to a lot of people. The original logo looks like it was faxed over IMO. The pose makes the Dolphin look like it was a tamed and domesticated animal. It wasn't natural.

    The "tradition" argument is bad.

First of all, we didn't change to this logo from the original one. You guys seem to forget there was a completely different logo in between the original "ones" (the first one was tweaked a number of times too).

Secondly, this logo respects tradition by getting awfully close to the original colors.

Third, its an easy argument to make that the change from the 97 logo to this one was less drastic then the original one to the 97 version.

Lastly, your concepts of what it means to "respect" tradition are silly. This team is no less the Miami Dolphins than any that came before it, because the logo changed. I respect the 72 team no less because i disliked the original logo. What you both are essentially saying is that people who like the new look are lesser fans than you. Its insulting and ridiculous.

Most things evolve, so get over it.

    Exactly.

The team was perfect. Unheralded effort was put into the product on the field and yet the old logo's craftsmanship was so poor, it should be considered a slap in the face to every player that had to wear it.

Who cares....last I checked there wasn't a single logo in all of sports that was anthropologically correct!! What I do know is that for close to half a century the Miami Dolphins had one of the most iconic logo's, not just in the NFL, but in all of sports.....now it's obliterated by an owner who care nothing for the traditions and heritage of the team...but hey he'll make a few extra bucks on t-shirts and hats. Maybe he'll use the money to help refurbish the stadium.....oh wait..................

I didn't find anything iconic about previous logos. Nothing iconic about a Dolphin doing tricks for its master IMO.

Insulting????? Are you serious?. It's insulting to us...the fans who have been fans since the origination of the franchise! It's an absolute slap in the face and totally disrespectful. You don't see it that way, so be it, but for the majority longtime fans it's PATHETIC. This owner is truly a disaster for both the product on and off the field.

You may not but the original logo was voted by the sporting news last year as the 25th most iconic logo in ALL of sports.

No one slapped you in the face. No one insulted you.

They changed a logo. That's all they did. You are slapping everyone else in the face by insinuating they are lesser fans because they don't "appreciate tradition" the same way you do.

Take a it step further and you're crapping on the accomplishments of the past players and coaches by making their effort about nothing more than a logo. And again, before you type anymore rhetoric, I'd like you to explain how Ross crapped on tradition when he didn't change the original logo.

You not only missed the side of the barn...you missed the whole damn barn! No one is insinuating anything about any other fan and your argument about the players and coaches effort is infantile. Tell me two things: 1) how old are you? 2) a single instance of Stephen Ross respecting the traditions of the franchise ( and no, the alumni feting does not count, that was established by Huizenga). Frankly your lack of respect for the franchise is insulting.

    lol, ok.

I've actually explained things and given instances, and in return you just cry a lot.

Take away the emotion for moment. If you say the new logo disrespects the past then you're saying the people who are in favor of the new logo are fine with disrespecting the past. That is an insult, by you.

Now, if you get this angry over the logo, that means THE most important things for you are the logo and not the accomplishments of the past.

These are simple logical outcomes of your stances. I'm sorry you don't like them, but I'm not the one taking the stances that lead to them...you are.

Instead of you making accusations, why not back up a single thing you've said about tradition, Ross, me, etc. All you've done is whine so far, and I'm actually looking forward to an actual defense of your stance.

You come into a thread where the majority of people are excited about the new logo and tell everybody they have no respect for tradition and complain that they don't embrace you? Then you get defensive and start trying to hurl more insults. You know nothing about the people here. Many of us have been posting here since the site's inception and have been Dolphin fans since the inception of the franchise. You received a poor reception b/c you made a poor first impression. All you did was bring up a weak tradition argument that has been hashed out over the previous 300 pages or so. Maybe if you start making some posts that bring actual value here, posts that people actually want to read, then I will care about something you say.

Interesting that you seem to speak for all. Just as an aside......I was at the very first home game, in fact the very first game, in the franchises history and have missed exactly 6 home games all time. So please, spare me your sanctimonious BS. You like the logo...great for you. I don't. And again, thanks for the welcome, I thought this board was for exchange of ideas and opinions, not sharing yours seems to disqualify me I guess.

The old logo (which others have correctly stated is NOT the original logo) just looks like a sticker on a helmet. Look at the practice picture of the players lined up. The new logo is going to be amazing because once the players are moving, it's going to look like a pod of dolphins swimming around the field. IMHO, that is going to look beyond awesome. I guess I'm a relative newcomer as a Fins fan. I've only been in the group for 29 years. I liked the Dolphins when I was younger, but became a permanent Fins fan at the age of 13 and have never looked back. I'm more excited about everything Fins related than I can remember being in a VERY long time. The look and the atmosphere surrounding the Fins is the best I can remember in the post Marino/Shula era.

Wait....you should be allowed to voice your opinion that the new logo is a travesty to tradition (with no evidence), but we can't voice our opinion (with evidence) that your opinion is a travesty to rational thought?

    Who is being sanctimonious now?

If it helps Lifelong, the old logo meant a lot to me as well. I may associate Miami as two different teams with the two different style logos. For me, the old logo will conjure up the Marino/ Shula years and my childhood when I was just getting into football. Im not a huge fan of the new logo either, but some day this new logo will represent a history as well. I appreciate the people who like the new logo. Its a sort of positive light going forward when I tend to want to drag my feet into this new logo era. I feel confident, that while this new logo doesn't mean much yet, hopefully we will have a lot of great things to attach to this new one. I think this is how most view it. No disrespect for tradition, just welcoming a new one.

It's not your opinions that everyone is taking issue with, it is your delivery thereof... and there are plenty of others who dislike it as well and have expressed that without insulting or talking down to those who either like the new logo or are more tolerant of the change.

Changing the new logo will always make people angry and happy..

The owner had no choice to modernize the look, the support for the football program needed a jolt..

If we supported our team like we should have in the first place, the logo never would of been changed, blame yourselves.

but...but we are fans, so we do care what we do like, and we like the logo, well a lot of us do. Its Pathetic that people who don't like the logo come here and bash the people who do. If you don't like it thats fine, everyone is entilted to their opinion. Don't come here and say people who do like the new logo are pathetic. They are also entitled to their own opinion. As are you.

I'm really excited about the new look. I'm a life long Bama fan as well, so I understand solidly embracing tradition and rejecting even small change. However, sometimes you see something come along that really is just that much better than what you have and you accept it. I would almost guarantee that if the current logo had been the original logo, nearly 100% of the fans would think it was the greatest logo in the history of sports. I hated it the first time I saw it and my opinion has rapidly changed on it. I think it very well could be the best logo in the NFL now.
