EW.com is presenting a list this week of its 100 favorite movies of the last 25 years. Today, they roll out films #100 to #76. Lots of good discussion material and movie watching ideas to follow.
I cant imagine Glory not being deserving a higher spot on the list. There are several others I'd probably put higher also, but I have to see what they have before I can criticize too much. It's hard to judge w/ out seeing the entire thing, but I can already imagine something good being left off for Blair Witch or South Park.
and un-american. On one hand..you have a film (Glory) that showed the worst/best of our country and a film that really fills your heart with patriotism for what our country had to endure to keep it's union. Then you have a film (Blair witch) that was basically a swindle of the american people. A film that had zero value except it's hype that suckered countless americans out of their money.
It was in the same breath as full metal jacket as well. Disgusting. The Blair witch project was a joke.
i liked micheal clayton but I dont feel it deserves to be above glory. The departed is debate able I guess.
I know this is always a hard thing to do, and I guess I should count myself lucky that they even mentioned them in the countdown. But "In the Mood For Love" is easily top 5 movie EVER... not of the last 50- or whatever years, but ever. So I disagree with its placement, and I also disagree with Breaking the Waves being this low since it is one of the most important art movies ever made... but yeah, I guess I should be happy they are in there.
hmmm I would have liked to see unforgiven higher, I agree with don for the most part about scream. Glad to see the truman show getting some kudos.
I personally don't care about the order of lists like this, rather if a movie shows up in the list at all. Frankly, I don't think blair witch project deserves to be anywhere near this list. It was the single worst movie I have ever seen in my opinion. The Mist wasn't too far behind (that's too harsh, I have seen much worse movies than the mist).
Clueless on the list at all is an embarrassment to lists everywhere, but #42... Speed that high is a joke also. Fun movie but come on, have some standards. Not sure how The Bourne Supremacy breaks the top 30 either.
Office Space seems kind of low. I hate Pretty Woman with the same passion that I hate the Jets. I don't think it should be within 100 other movies of this list. But then to put it where it was is mindboggling to me. Seems like a pretty weak top 25.
Shrek, meh a cute film but top 25? Toy Story top 5? And I love animation. Lion King over Schlinder's List? Alrighty then. Jerry Maguire may be the most overrated movie ever.Moulin Rouge, yeesh. Good to see it wasn't a complete snob fest with great action movies like the Matrix and Die hard getting their due. I think this list is way too full of 'good' movies, its supposed to be the greatest of the last 25 years, not good movies that people liked.
Horrible top 25... Titanic was a piece of crap. Toy Story is very overrated. Moulin Rouge was a bigger piece of crap than Titanic....I can't even get out of the top 10 without getting enraged...
