We averaged 56,000 at home, how many you estimate per game were for the other team??

You like seeing your team play in front of 30 k during the whole first quarter..?

You like seeing our defense come out for the 2nd half in front of 20 k?

You like seeing 20,000 fans disappear at the first sprinkle of rain.?

You like seeing your team actually blow out a team in front if a half filled stadium that's filing out mid fourth quarter.?

You like seeing our fans boo at a scrimmage.?

You like being the only one in your section who stands on defense when were in a critical third down situation?

You like a fanbase that likes to criticize to hear themselves talk or read their sh$) in print?

Lets not blow smoke up our own asses, when need an enema, badly..

This whole fu&$in fanbase needs to be retrained by a genius marketing plan..to bad only a few actually know how one could execute that..

Too bad the stadium itself is mostly responsible for their disgusting behavior.

The problem has been the product on the field. I had season tickets from 1997-2004 and the intensity was just fine.

Plan b, that's never going to happen in sun life..never, it's achechtectually impossible...all they can do is add some rows in the front and cut some corners in the end zone..there's no way to take the top row in the upper deck and move it closer so moving the lower bowl cannot happen unless the whole freaking thing is gutted and a new lower and upper deck is built inside the existing stadium, then destroying the outer crust once finished..

This renovation is all fluff, I only hoped for it because I've realized noone has the ingenuity to understand how lucrative an OB 2 project would be so I would just settle for a makeover instead of constructive surgery.

You're right about the distance DJ. The proposed upgrades would have been great. But the noise level/heat was that of a home field advantage.

Totally different situ. Attendance is low, but the tickets are bought. You have to get on the waiting list for Redskins season tickets. Furthermore, Snyder has deals with pretty much every defense contractor and IT contractor in the area to buy up those tickets. What Ross pays out of his pocket every game for us....SAIC and Booz Allen Hamilton along with Lockheed, Boeing, and Northrup will just scoop them up.

The actual attendance. Why exactly does Jacksonville have higher attendance than Miami, in a significantly smaller market? How many teams have received less public subsidies than the Dolphins?

Boy... ( sarcasm meter on)I sure hope that we are making as much profit as the other guys with our pathetic home attendance combined with our owner bucking up millions per game to let us watch in TV..I surely wouldn't want our team to not have as much cash as the other guys to be able to be competitive in the free agent market..

The owner has the vision as to what needs too be done to get superbowls and other world events, all events that the region will benefit from monetarily, not just in his pocket..now take those events away and come up with a number you lose out on?... You lose..

Lol...holy freakin cow did these idiots fu&$ up, and the fans out there that disagree with what I'm saying, I'd like you to explain why you think that missing out on superbowls is worth you favoring the deal, especially considering the lack of risk involved?

Really, where is the math in the equation, you don't get any superbowls Miami, you are not relevant anymore !!!!! Do..you..not..understand..the.. words.. that.. are..coming.. out ..of.. my.. mouth??..

If you don't think your missing out on millions of dollars you have no business in this discussion.

Official attendance.....did you actually see the games ? I did and I saw empty seats every game for the Cowboys, not a lot, but there were some. Same with Tennessee. Washington had RGIII and made the playoffs. Cowboys also almost made the playoffs.

The Dolphins OTOH......started off the season 4-3, but went 3-6 in their final 9 games. Did not come close to a playoff spot for the 4th season in a row.

Again, why are you seemingly blaming South Fla ? What drugs are you on bro that prevent you from understanding the problem was not the people here, or the government here (they put together a good package to present to Tallahassee), yet you continue on this mindlessly idiotic rampage to continually teardown and beat up the local fan base.

This, according to the latest polls was going to pass by 55-45 margin, so why do you continue on your rants about the locals and they not wanting your vision of a Utopian "Dolphania" ? Geeeesh.....

Blame only ONE PERSON, and that is Weatherford. You should email bomb him and telephone bomb his office, but dude, get off of the backs of South Fla, they tried to get this done and were with Ross & Dee in Tallahassee.

Racist ? Seriously ? And as for your rant......it explains all I needed for others not familiar with Florida demographics and politics to see. Your attitude confirms everything I've already asserted about those people living north of Lake Okeechobee. Thanks for confirming it dude.

Or maybe just maybe a true local, who is a Dolfan will buy them. Not a carpetbagger like Ross or Loria. (and yes I know Ross went to a year of HS at Beach High....big deal his heart is not in Miami, never has been and never will be).

Exactly.....Miami doesn't NEED Super Bowls, they are more of a luxury add-on here than say Houston, or Atlanta. No one goes to Atlanta in the winter time but those that have too.

Look your complaining is just getting to be annoying.

Get over it, get a life and stop the complaints PLEASE. It isn't going to change it, and all you do is look like a whiny little kid that is throwing a temper tantrum.

We have a team, that has just had a tremendous off-season in free agency, a so far so good draft result and hope for the future. Try to focus on that and get back to talking football because none of us, are going to change each others minds on this stupidity, we're just going round and round and its starting to get to the personal level because of the frustration.

No matter how positive things are looking, the fanbase will always disappoint..

I'm ranting because how ridiculous some of the excuses are that I'm hearing in this thread, and how it is a reflection of what I know to be true..they community wouldn't of passed the bill anyways,.

I'm ranting because I'm fed up with a half empty stadium, late arrivals, early departures, passive sitting on their *** crowds, I'm tired of being in the minority who do stand when their supposed too, I'm tired of fans who criticize unjustly, and I'm really tired of people who think the stadium is fine as is, and ones who think that this wasn't the deal of the century.

We were 29th in raw numbers last season. With that 7% drop, Washington was still the fourth in terms of raw numbers in 2011.

It has nothing to do with architecture and everything to do with the the existing structure, Sure you won't move any of the existing concrete or the steel wrapped up inside.
A geotech report would be helpful. Lowering the field would be costly. We probably know that there is a ton of existing utilities.

So this fanbase has shown that it is the best at not showing up for their team when they suck, but we shouldn't blame the Miami fanbase .....lol...that is your choice ya know, you can choose to support each team every new year considering there's always new players, and forget the past, you can choose to be grateful that you have a team playing in your city that if you wanna go check out your team, you can..

I'm jumping into this discussion REALLY late but as I see it, no taxpayer should have to foot the bill for any stadium, newly constructed or renovated. These teams in the NFL are cash making machines and have tons of money, but where the money goes is to some of these ridiculously, astronomical salaries they pay players...and we fans pay that at the ticket both.

I read in another thread not long ago a poster stating that a trip to see a game with his family; between tickets, concessions, parking, which once cost him a couple of hundred dollars was more like $500. If some of these crybaby players, who scream about their "fair share" were put in their place and paid salaries compensatory to their performance, owners would have the means to renovate their stadiums with the money they earn as owners of their teams.

Other than professional sports, I can't really think of any other private industry that has the government pay for their place of duty.

They generate revenue enormous revenue and are paid a salary based on their revenue. They're also unique in that you nor I nor a couple billion other people could go out and do what they do at the same level.

There's a yearly cap at $120.6 million or so, that should tell you how much the owners make. Their marginal product is high and only getting higher as the NFL grows in size. Simple microeconomics.

By comparison, Rush Limbaugh got essentially an 8 year $400 million contract averaging $50 million per year. That's more than double the current highest paid NFL player who is also the highest paid NFL player in history.

It's like we have this discussion every 24 hours:

    1) It's a loan....it ALL has to be paid back.
    2) It's not paid with general revenue from taxes but from a hotel bed tax that non-Florida or at least non-local residents are paying.
    3) States and Cities are NOT cash making machines which is why they rely on taxation. Taxation in Florida because you have no state taxes relies on the consumption of services. The more consumption, the more taxes you generate. The higher the value the stadium and the more people in the stadium and in the cities and in the hotels the more taxes the state and city get.

Miami was once run over with drugs and crime but it is a shell of what it once was in the 70's and 80's and crime is up everywhere. Crime is up because economies are struggling and Miami is surely one! They can't afford the drugs you think they're doing....

I agree with DJ that the culture of the fans is important. However, I think the Dolphins have to win first, because there is too much in Miami to compete for a family's entertainment dollar.

I also don't think the tax payers should pay for anything, but the local government should give Ross serious tax breaks to get the job done for less. That would better mirror the return for both parties.

Go to ESPN.com and check the numbers from before 2008. Miami consistantly was over 90% capacity, and was among the best in the NFL year in and year out. So the point is proven, that Miami's fanbase finally has had it, and the blind loyalty has worn off. If you'll notice the numbers for the Dolphins coincide with the rise of the Heat to prominence. If the Dolphins want the fans back its simple, WIN

Why not bring this up again next year when you have more time? If the bill had the significant support in the house that Ross claim there is reason to believe that enough pressure could be brought on Weatherford to bring it up for a vote.
