“This young man will be the most improved quarterback in the National Football League from year one to year two this year – I promise you that,” Sherman told the Dolphins website. “He’s working extremely hard.”

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ll-will-be-most-improved-quarterback-in-2013/

Put that sense of urgency on that man Sherm..I'm sure he knows best how to motivate his QB.

To this day, I still can't wrap my arms around the fact that this dude was a 1000 yard receiver up until 3 years ago...it's not like this kid was use to Qb'ing from the pocket before that, he wasn't, ran an exclusive zone read scheme in high school..The pocket literally was and is new territory for which this dude had to learn to operate from..

I don't want to be cliche here, but experience in this case might help this dude more than the norm, cause his pocket talent just throwing the ball is excellent, the things where it seemes he struggled with (sensing backside pressure, evading with quickness) might really improve with more experience.

I mean I'm not sure I can think of a quicker more impressive linear angle than playing wide receiver in the big 12 to becoming the 8th pick in the draft, to having a decent rookie season, as a Qb..all in a three year period..pretty unprecedented territory I would think.

You've gotta remember though, Tanny didn't have much, as far as Offensive Weapons, than the other Rookie QBs.

This season, Tanny annihilates ALL QB Records for the organization!

I sure hope so!! IMO he just needs to protect the ball and increase T.D numbers, I wont go out on limb and say he "breaks records" this year but an improvement no matter how small is a step in the right direction. I've been hearing about sophomore slumps for years, and if true I hope Tann-Da-Mann jumps over that wall. If RG3, Luck and Wilson hit a slump (good/great rookie seasons) the numbers may still be tolerable/competitive. What can we expect Tann-Da-Man to put up if he does hit the wall and digress a lil? Just saying

Am I wrong, because I do not know the numbers but... out of that rookie class of Qb's, Tannehill and Weeden have the most room for improvement? A two horse race maybe? Or am I looking at it wrong?

Can't wait to see him in action, I think he will surprise a lot of the doubting Thomas' out there, especially at the national level who think we reached last year.

Give them hell Tanny, shove their crap back in their faces.

It's an exciting time to be a dolphins fan. Things are just looking up. Its hard not to start feeling some hype for Tannehill with wallace, keller, and hartline.

When I watched RGIII he was definitely electrifying and exciting, but he'll be lucky to be playing in 6 years I think. Also, take a look at the redskins highlights. Moss and Garcon just made nonsense highlight reel plays in every game. Really made RGIII look like a superstar even when he made bad throws sometimes. this is something Hartline and Bess just did not do, ever. Wallace can do this. And more important, Wallace can get behind DB's with ease.

Andrew Luck was a phenom but we all knew he would. He threw a lot of touchdowns. He threw a lot of picks. He...is Peyton Manning 2.0. It's really not fair that the colts got him. Comparing Tannehill to him isn't fair IMO, Luck is another level that Tannehill isn't on...maybe in another year of starting, but not right now.

Russel Wilson. Now this guy was magic. Seemed like he had eyes int he back of his head when he played. Always either ducked under DE's or spun out right when his blind side was about to get jacked up. It was surreal how he avoided sacks. By the end of the season the seahawks were a well oiled machine and he was the driver. I actually thought the trade for Harvin was a weird move, cause I thought their WR's were awesome last year. Kudos to wilson for making such a huge impact last season right out of the gate.

With some new talent in Miami, as well as some more experience under his belt, Tannehill can certainly be right there with these guys.

I thought he and Weeden were about the same. Russell Wilson was the most efficient but also had the least amount of responsibility placed on his shoulders. Even so he was the only guy who turned his level of play up toward the end of the year and performed ridiculous in clutch situations in the playoffs, and so I have him as the top overall performer in 2012. Robert Griffin comes next and then Andrew Luck and then I think Weeden/Tannehill were there with one another.

Efficiency-wise Tannehill was slightly better, but Weeden had more put on his shoulders and was given a less reliable set of weapons to work with. Miami's weapons may not have been athletic but they were dependable. Cleveland's were the total opposite. All athleticism, zero dependability. Yet the Cleveland staff had Brandon throwing the football 40 to 50 times a game. His first four games as a pro, he's dropping back 40 times, 41 times, 50 times, 54 times, etc. Half his schedule were against playoff teams including the Super Bowl champs whom he played twice. Oh and a nice little twist was the staff taking Weeden (who was a pure shotgun QB in college) and having him run like the smallest percentage of shotgun passes in the league. Way to fit the system to the talent. No wonder they're fired.

Ryan Tannehill was good though. Definitely slightly better than Weeden efficiency-wise. Not on a level with Luck, Griffin and Wilson clearly. It will be interesting to see how Tannehill develops. I look forward to it.

I'm excited for the season and think that RT can be a good qb. Not sure how good, but definitely serviceable and capable of getting us to the playoffs at some point. He basically doubled his experience last year and it's a game of tenths of a second. If Wallace, Keller, Gibson, Hartline can get open just that couple of tenths sooner and RT can make decisions just a couple of tenths sooner you are talking almost half a second which is an eternity in this league. That and the speed on D is pretty dang exciting.

Calling him the "worst of the five" makes it sound like those 5 rookie QBs were all crap and that Tannehill was the crappiest. Personally, I'd prefer to say he was 4th best among what's arguably the best performing rookie QB crop of all time, not to mention beat the best of the bunch head to head in epic fashion.

You guys remember in Hark Knocks when that fan said Tannehill was going to take us to the Super Bowl in the next 2 years? And me and many others on here were calling him dumb for saying something like that. Well they just showed the "Hey rookie, welcome to the NFL" show on NFL network featuring Luck, RGII, Tannehill, Wilson and Weeden which was really good by the way. But they showed the whole clip of that fan from HK and after he said his original statement he said he was going to be a better QB than Dan Marino, mark it down. I mean I'm a big RT supporter and an optimist when it comes to the dolphins but how can you say such an idiotic statement, makes all us fans look bad.

Not really, that is more a symptom, his fitting the ball on time and on target where the receiver can do more with the play is a bit shaky Deej, I'd like to see him stick throws right in the numbers with the receiver heading down hill with more consistency.

I love that about him, he also mentioned his goal was to win the final 6 games.

Qb has to have confidence in himself and his teammates, he's a leader and you have to take the position of a leader.

The whole "gosh, Mr Marino was a HoF Qb shucks don't if I can..."

Is B$, to me this is one of the areas Henne was lacking, and I saw more from THill as rook then Henne in his yr #1 starting season. People forget Carey and Long were really good that year.

THill was taking kill shots that would have put Nacho back in HS dating teens..oh wait..

We're talking about different players who played under vastly different circumstances so it's extremely difficult to rank them objectively, so the rankings end up being a direct reflection of how good their respective teams were.

Just once I'd like to here someone rank LTs by W-L record or MLBs based on how clutch they are in the 4th quarter, why confine the silliness to just one position?

Stats wise THill and Weeden were not that far apart, BUT, people tend to forget that THill played a large chunk of the season with a bad knee (thanks Jests), once that recovered you could tell the difference in his level of play.

I do wonder if Cleveland saw how DBess helped THill so they made the deal and gave him the contract extension to try to duplicate that with Weeden.

Hmm, seem to recall THill saying something along those lines himself though (?)

I do recall him making it his responsibility to win the last 6 games to make the playoffs or something along those lines.

And do let me point out, a fan who said that has the proper mindset.

I think it's good for the QB to have that mentality for sure but you don't think you sound kind of biased looking through aqua colored glasses by saying that your rookie qb is going to take you to the Super Bowl in 2 season's and that he is going to be better than a HOF QB. Saying this in training camp no less and not seeing him take one snap yet, kinda ridiculous.

And by "you" I mean that fan on HK
