You can think I am anything you want to. I see a roster which will be 9-7 at best in 2013, but more than likely will be 8-8 or 7-9. As far as the off season is concerned, the only real upgrade I see on the roster from free agency is Wallace. I think Bess is better than Gibson and therefore I don't see Gibson's signing and the trading of Bess as an upgrade to this team. Linebacker was not the problem on defense last year and I question if and Wheeler and Ellerbe will be as productive as the players they replaced. Keller and Fasano are a wash. Keller might be a little better as a receiving TE, but Fasano is a much better blocking TE. I wasn't a big fan of Smith at CB or Long at LT, because of his injuries in recent years. That being stated, I don't know if Grimes will be an upgrade over Smith because of his injury which prevented him from playing in 2012. The Dolphins really haven't done anything to replace Long yet and, I just don't think Martin is ready to be a full time starting LT in the NFL. Hopefully some of these draft picks will come in and provide immediate help for the Dolphins. I just don't have a lot of faith in Ireland when it comes to the college draft. I welcome Ireland and the Dolphins to prove me wrong, but until they do, I will continue to question the ability of Ireland as this teams GM.
My gf said she is starting to see a correlation between how low you're drafted and how weird or hard to pronounce your name is. I lol'd
Lost me at the first paragraph. If you can look at last seasons team going 7-9 and see this seasons team going the same, then there is no helping you. Like night and day already.
Why is there a "2013 Draft Thread Day 3" and a "Day #3 draft picks thread" *looks* Oh, they were both started by padre...now it makes perfect sense.
But at least he plays. That is more than can be said for Egnew. Perhaps Egnew will develop as an NFL TE, but it would be helpful if he could actually learn the playbook first. He may have the physical tools to play at this level, but it is the mental aspect of the game he seems to have trouble with. He needs to show a drastic improvement in this area if he expects to remain in the NFL much longer.
So... we were a 7-9, really should have been a 9-7 team if it weren't for two missed FGs, MASSIVELY upgraded our big needs and are (albeit on paper) a MUCH better team than we were last year... and you don't see us improving? I don't quite understand. But, it's whatever.
Oh how droll. One was meant for tracking people's personal draft boards, the other actual draft day thread Idea being if anyone wanted to go back and look, now there is not just one long thread with a mishmash of information and views on our picks. Rafi loved Menelik Watson, I don't, two years from now it might be fun to go back and look at it
Maybe you missed the fact that the other teams in the NFL have also upgraded their rosters in the off season. As I stated, the Dolphins could go 9-7 in 2013, but 8-8 or even another 7-9 season wouldn't surprise me in the least. I have felt all along that the Dolphins would not be a playoff team until at least 2014. Nothing they have done in free agency or in the draft so far has changed my mind regarding this coming season still being part of a rebuilding process. You disagree, which is certainly your right to do. Fortunately the Dolphins will play 16 games this season and we can both examine their record after all these games and see which one of us was right. Personally I hope you are right and I am completely wrong about the record of this team in 2013. I want them to make the playoffs, I'm just not convinced they yet have the team to reach that level. We will see.
its weird.. nfl.com and cbs say we have clevelands late pick in the 5th (164).. instead of their early pick (139).... so unless we swapped DOWN picks in the 5th to get rid of bess? to be fair, it only said we swapped picks in the 4th and 5th.. never said we swapped UP on both
I never said the Dolphins might not be a better overall team in 2013, compared to 2012. They just might be a better team, but that doesn't mean they will have a much better record than they had in 2012. I think they will start the season 1-4. So they can go 7-4 over their last 11 games and still only end the season with an 8-8 record. I think they will be a much better team as the season goes along, but I think their early season losses will prove to be too much to overcome in regards to making the playoffs. If you disagree, I can live with that.
Simply, our guys play better, the one thing I've noticed about our roster is they can be sunshine players, they look great most of the time, add pressure and they make that crucial error that costs us the game.
The 49ers are killing this draft. Just piling up talent. Lattimore can red shirt, get healthy and could be a featured back in 2 years.
jesse williams still falling, ellington, rambo, quessenberry, da'rick rogers.. some names still there
and just think, that brain trust could have been here, if Ross could have just parted with Ireland.....
