Could be our best pass rush since Ogunleye and Taylor.

Wake-Starks-Odrick-Jordan. pity the opposing offense on 3rd and long. (We still need a CB)

The only reason I don't like this trade is because it means we are going to trade for Albert. I would have rather taken Lane Johnson and NOT gotten Albert.

I think Vernon will benefit a lot. It will take great effort for opposing lines to keep Jordan and Wake in check. Vernon has a great motor and good athleticism. He could give winded lineman a fit.

what I like is that we're not trying to copy the Patriots, but seem more like building a version of the NY Giants team that beat their sorry butts. Throw in Starks and Odrick on the inside on 3rd down and we now have good pass-rushers on obvious passing downs. Throw in Vernon and our new LBs, should be a very fun year to watch, especially if Grimes can get back to full health.

Incredible value, moving from 12 to 3 for only a second. A stud DE that will make Wake and our secondary better. As I said in another thread, we need to offer the Chiefs a third and seventh for Albert. Or sign Winston and put Martin at LT as they may have planned all along (the KC trade being a smoke screen).

Yep, and guys who can play different roles, but with physical talent.

Now we really do need to nail down Db's and T's and maybe a do it all Wr

I love Thiggy but he has not proven much yet

Our pass rush is gonna be awesome. Brady might break both sides of his ribs on the same play.
The pass rush is gonna help our secondary tremendously.

Remember how terrible we were last year on third n long. We gave up so many first downs after playing pretty good d on first n second. W a pass rush it will make the lb n DB much much better.

Im ok w this pick so long as Jordan lives up to a 3rd overall pick.
Maybe he can be the next Jason Taylor!!!

How on earth did the Dolphins move up 9 spots for just the 42 pick. I wonder if they have a side deal trade to come, sending Bess home.

Really warming up to the pick. Long arms for creating fumbles. The NFL offenses has changed with the spread offense and 6'7", 4.5 speed, huge wingspan, versatile, pressure opposite Wake...what's not to love?

Just a few quick thoughts...take immediate perceptions that you might have out of your head..

1).. Perception..Because he's 6'7 his body phisiologically must not be balanced or move quick enough laterally, with a taller player you lose some athletic ability and coordination.

not true...This player moves exactly like a linebacker 4 inches shorter, rare size/athletic ability ratio, but you get those extra four inches in play, and that can be the difference in plays on many levels..

This is an excellent inside out defensive hybrid player, a planet theory prospect because of the size/athletic ratio..will never leave the field..3 down player that can be moved anywhere in the field, and i mean literally, give you an example in a bit.

    2) perception.. He's got a lean frame therefore he must be weak.?

BS...kid plays the run with leverage in Mind, excellent control of his balanceand upper body , the balance and base he plays with is so different from what you've seen from a player this tall, it's reminiscent of our future hall of famer JT..

Also I'd like to add, this is not a soft player, this kid plays and finishes with some nastiness, he doesn't look like it or talk like it, but he gets hyped on the field, enjoys ripping arms away from his body with aggression, and likes to stick the face of the opponent into the ground when he makes a tackle..

I've see him lined up on the far hash on the y, ready to play some press man coverage, leave his man, time the snap, rush the passer, and finish the play on the Qb..I've never seen a player that size do something like that on a football field..

I've been consistent from the get, there were only Two players that if they dropped to 12 I would of taken over Eifert and Austin, and that was Jordan and Richardson, my top two defensive players in the draft.

I didnt plan on moving up to do so, so I'd like to think about what we gave up and what were doing before I judge that part..

The Kracken now has a legitimate baby krackens to teach, and I'll say this DJ can learn pass rush moves, I've seen him do the whole repertoire, he does like to go to the outside rush a lot, but I've seen him rip, rip and dip, spin, deek, over/under, I know what he do athletically, I enjoy his demeanor and passion on the field, I think he's a tough player, he's a mamas boy so we don't have to worry about that, plays with his head up, and, is an athletic freak with cutting edge size.

He reminds so much of JT. Long, lanky athletic. We even saw him line up out there wide for that TD like we tried to do with JT.

I like the fact that he's not super raw and has some pass rush moves already in his arsenal. Also can use his hands, which was a big part of what made JT an elite pass rusher.

Moving up and taking him at #3, he needs to make an impact now. But you love that he's got definite growth and play potential. Odds are he'll never be as good as JT (not many guys are Hall of Fame caliber), but if he can realize his potential, we're going to be quite all right with this pick.
