What does anyone see in this guy? Really the guy has been a below avg RB for a while now.

Bradshaw will not be a Dolphin in 2013. The guy is not very good at all… I would rather stay with DT then go to a old soft RB with a crappy attitude once things are not going his way.

What conviction for a guy that has had 51 carries in the pros and never more than 10 in a single NFL game.

Isn't that more proof than we'd have with any rookie?

I base that opinion on what I saw in Miller when he was in college, what I saw in Miller last year AND what I have seen from Bush over this career.

Bush gave us a 4.7 ypc, roughly 1000 yards a season rushing, and another 300 receiving.

I agree is not a great fit for the zone blocking thing we're trying now. He's a lousy blocker, but commanded respect if lined up in the slot and was always a homerun threat. What he did is not so easily replaced and not so casually dismissed.

Miller is top dog now, I hope it works out and I hope his shoulder is fine. I do think any backfield featuring Daniel Thomas in it is silly and I expect to see another added by the draft.

I'd love me some Ahmad Bradshaw. Unless we really believe Jonas Grey can actually make some impact this season, we do need to spend a pick on a RB as well as pickup a vet after the draft. I still firmly believe there will be some good ones let go after the draft and we can scoop one up that will be better than D Thomas. If that was Bradshaw, I'd be pretty psyched, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I was never a fan of Bush's, frankly I hate his running style. I dont think Miller has any problem what so ever putting up better numbers this year. Miller is just a better football player and is just as good of an athlete.

NO WAY! We need to keep him! Why the hell would we trade our best football player? Bess is our best overall football player. He does everything he is asked to do and he is a hell of a slot wideout. The only way I see us moving him is if Tavon Austin is his replacement. I have little to no faith in the Brandon Gibson signing. In fact the Brandon Gibson signing should serve more as a substitution for Wallace and Hartline. Bess should still be very much in the mix of what we are trying to do next season. We would be stupid to move him in my opinion.
He's not the greatest flashiest player in the league but Bess has sure hands and is as tough of a guy as they come. He is a bona fide true 100% football player. He's that Brian Mitchell, Dave Meggett, Steve Tasker, Brandon Stokely guy that every winning team needs and we would be stupid to move him.

I have to ask if you have seen him play.

Because one thing he is not, is soft. Bid will run over his mother to get to the endzone.

Not really. Rookies haven't had the chance to not beat out the mediocre starters. Miller proved last year that he couldn't get on the field; he wasn't even active every week, iirc. It's not like Reggie Bush and DT were tearing it up to the extent that no one could challenge them for touches - Miller wasn't ready or good enough, that's why he only got 50 carries against bum competition mostly in garbage time.
I think of Bernard Pierce who came in and was able to grab carries from Ray Rice (who's far better than Bush and DT) and got over 100 carries - that kid is LEGIT, and the Ravens found a way to significantly play him alongside their top-tier, big contract, pro-bowl running back because Pierce is flat-out talented. Why couldn't Miller do this with mediocre Bush and DT? The Ravens, ya know, played their most talented players. Are you saying that the Phins didn't? That we kept our best RB on the bench?

I just don't have a ton of faith in a guy who couldn't rise on the depth chart above Bush and DT. I mean, if the staff had an idea that he would be the feature back this year, why not give him the ball more? Just strange to me. Add to the fact that he has a history of getting nicked, has never played on 3rd downs, and we're asking this guy to tote the rock 15-20 times/gm? I optimistically expect 10-15 and am crossing my fingers he can be productive with that workload which, again, he has never proven over a season.

Easy now. Miller has done nothing at the NFL level to prove that. Not saying it wont be true at some point, but at this point that is a fairly inaccurate statement.

    Agreed..

    ### Some Dolphins will be disappointed if Miami trades Davone Bess, which hasn’t been ruled out publicly. One defensive player said Bess gets open all the time in practice. “In my opinion, he’s the best receiver we have,” said practice squad receiver Brian Tyms. (Actually, that’s Mike Wallace.)"

We all will miss the grittiness and the overachieving heart...but reality is there are no shortage of upgrades available as the slot position is evolving.

Draft Tavon at 12 and get the Bengals to give you a 4th or 5th rounder.

I actually, I stand corrected… I was thinking of the former NYG's RB that signed with the 49ers last year.

I believe a big reason Miller wasnt on the field more was because he wasnt able to block in pass pro. Has nothing to do with his ability to play the RB position

With all due respect, that is crazy to me.

You are saying a guy who has played in the NFL and racked up a decent average in game situations against NFL opponents, is less of a sure thing than a rookie? That makes no sense.

Bush wasn't a mediocre starter. He was vet, perhaps the hardest working player on the team and coming off of his best season as a pro. 2nd string was the ceiling for Miller last year and you're right he struggled to reach even that. He seemed to have trouble with the playbook, going the wrong way on a handoff in a key situation vs the Jets. That'll get you benched by a high school coach. He wasn't very effective on ST and he's obviously not the best pass protector in the world. Still, provided he has the playbook down this season he should be OK IMO. As a starter he won't be asked to play ST and Thomas will probably handle the 3rd down duties.

Not taking anything away from Pierce but the Ravens have a ton of money invested in Ray Rice and thus a major incentive to not run him into the ground. The dolphins had no real reason to save Bush, for what? Playoffs. Next season? No and no.

Durability is my concern with him too, though he seems to be aware of it. He lowers his shoulder selectively and he'll even give himself up to avoid a big collision. I think 12-15 carries and 4-5 receptions should be the target area for him. And with DT's injury history and inconsistency I think a mid round pick on a back like Steph Taylor should be under consideration.

  22. Maybe his statement had more to do with who he was taking over for, than the player himself. Not hard to be better than a RB who led the league in negative rushes. If ya can't decide which endzone you should be heading for, maybe he should have had a GPS built into his helmet. Reggie "the drive killer" Bush, did more to stop dolphin drives last year than any defense we played. We instantly became a more constant offense the second he signed with Detroit.

Yeah, I agree that he is quick and agile, but at the same time, he is NOT a YAC type reciever, which is a mainstay of the WCO and Philbin's offense in general....for that reason, Bess's salary, the plethera of slot type WRs in this draft and the acquistion of Gibson, I see Bess as expendable to Philbin...not a knock on Bess, but it's the age old reason of value versus cost.

If we select a receiver in the 2nd round, woods, Swope, bailey, Wheaton, I can understand trying to shop Bess, you've already committed to three receivers, and Bess will be a free agent, might as well get something, but, it doesn't mean that Ireland didnt make a mistake by signing Gibson..I would like to see Gibson in camp so we know for sure that there is an upgrade there over Bess.

@ArmandoSalguero: RT @seankjensen: #Browns seriously considering a trade for Dolphins WR Davone Bess, according to a league source. Several teams in the mix.
