Agreed Swearinger has grown on me. I don't know what it is as I remember the last big name Texas safety to come out Michael Huff, never lived up to his draft billing. I'd take Vacarro is we slide down but I don't feel FS is as big of a priority that early. I do want to draft one but not a round 1 guy.

I love Cyprien but not sure if he is too similar to Jones skill set.
Swearinger has really grown on me, reminds me of the ball hawk we desperately need.

Another guy is Amerson, he has been rumored to possibly be a better FS prospect and I love his speed, size, and ballhawking skill.

It isn't like Clemons was terrible last year either thought he stepped up, and I like the idea to give him another 1 yr deal see if it was a real thing or just a fluke.

I don't know how anyone can act like this over any position besides quarterback with a high pick at this point. There are very little in the way of non-viable options.

Ireland isn't known for trading up in the first round, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him move up to the fifth or six pick if either Fisher or Joeckel are still on the board. I would rather see them draft Fisher, but I think the Chiefs will select him with the first pick in the draft.

If Joeckel is still on the board, Ireland might be willing to trade the Dolphins first round pick, their first pick in the second round and a late round selection to move up and get Joeckel with the fifth or sixth pick in the draft.

If Fisher and Joeckel are already off the board in the first few picks of the draft, I still expect Ireland to draft an offensive lineman with the 12th pick in the draft. Johnson or Fluker are possibilities if Ireland wants a tackle or Warmack or Cooper if he decides to upgrade the guard position.

Some fans will be upset with the drafting of another offensive lineman in the first round but that is the biggest area of need at this time. So they might as well get used to the idea that Ireland will once again use his first pick to select another offensive lineman in 2013.

Maybe, but if they don't trade up they aren't getting a LT unless you think Fluker can play LT, which I'm not sold on (especially in a ZBS). At that point I would go elsewhere and try and get Armstead or Watson later.

I think it's bogus. For the life of me, I cannot see us NOT taking a CB or something for the line with that pick. The ONLY outside thing MAY be Austin, but that is a stretch. It's not that I don't like the kid, it's the reality of our needs.

    Much wisdom in this post.

When Geno is the top QB, there isn't much there.

    Just to clarify 2 things.....

You aren't suggesting Ertz in the 12 spot are you? I love the kid, but he is not first round talent, not even in this draft.

You are not really suggesting that Mingo and Star are equal?

You have 3 starting caliber OTs still in FA, no thanks to trading up for a tackle.

So what? You've got a starting quality slot receiver and tight end on the roster right now.

The talent, upside, and contract cost issue are still exactly the same with offensive linemen as other potential picks. You're not drafting an OT high in the first round to get a pretty good Right Tackle, just like you wouldn't draft Tavon Austin to get Davone Bess or Tyler Eifert for Dustin Keller.

If you look at him on a football field we would be getting great value. Like I said, I hope he had a great interview

No, not Ertz at #12 or that Mingo and Star are equal (I don't believe that for a sec), just that there isn't quite as much difference between any of those guys as there are in most drafts...

One is a 3 or 5 tech DL and the other is ideally a 3-4 OLB, so in that sense they are not equal in what they can do. Overall rankings though among all draft prospects, they rank about the same.

I love the intensity of the kid. Attacks without regard for safety (pun just realized). The description "side line to side line"? This kid's photo is in the dictionary for it.

After watching a little more of him, he's too inconsistent for 12. He's not right for us. He's not a project but he's far from polished. We need an instant, solid starter.

If one of the top three LT prospects are not available at #12, would taking any of the other LT's be considered a reach? Its an honest question because I don't know if any of the other prospects outside of the top three would be worth the #12 pick? I would hate to see them reach at #12 just for the sake of getting a tackle.
I just want to feel really good about our first pick rather than having a question or doubts. This is a really important draft and they need to get a home run with the 1st pick and a successful 1st day, at least in theory.
