I'm glad I could finally shed some light on this subject for you. As for the rest of your post... Does that somehow prove he throws downfield well?

ppl nit picking on Brady and his weaknesses. Unreal. He's going to Canton. Nuff said. And for the record I can't stand Brady. Love nothing more than him getting planted by Jason Taylor or Cam Wake but its bred from respect. Marino couldn't run to save his life and yet ppl say Brady isn't that good at throwing downfield.

Actually, what makes a fan "dumb" is when they swallow and regurgitate what they hear on ESPN instead of doing their own homework. You, like unified, totally ignored the evidence that I researched for you. Which is fine, stay ignorant, but if you're not going to back anything up you say with anything substantial why reply at all.

In 2007 Brady completed 17.6% of his passes that traveled 15 yards or greater in the air. That ranked him 37th in the league. There were 23 QB's in the league that completed over 20% of those passes. And, as you kindly pointed out, Brady had Moss. Probably the greatest vertical threat of all time.

Tom Brady has the better career. Is this a serious question? Nobody but Dan Marino himself and his mom would rather have Dan's career than Toms. Hell even Dan might opt for Brady. Dan didn't care about numbers, he cared about wins.

I was comparing career numbers. If Brady maintains his pace, he will have thrown for more TDs, less INT's than Dan Marino once Tom gets to the number of attempts Marino has.

Plus 3 Super bowls, a perfect regular season (if he beats the Giants nobody is even discussing this), two more super bowl appearances.

I love Dan. But if 1983 you would ask me which career I'd rather see take over the QB position of the Dolphins, it would be Brady's career. It's a team game, but it's a team game, you can't isolate everything.

The guy is already top 2 of all time and maybe even #1. Marino had a magical 3 years and then only hit 30 TDs once more the rest of his career. Under the same rules Brett Favre was tossing 39 TDs. Those 3 years were magical. After that, he was Joe Flacco, I'm sorry.

Again with the regurgitation. You do realize that Manning has better stats in the playoffs than Brady, right? No...I guess you don't. Maybe you should do a little research. And don't come back with playoff wins. Wins, like Championships, are team accomplishments. Brady has been able to post 50 QBR's and still win while Manning has posted 90+'s and still lost.

Great comeback. Are you the one who decides weight around here? You were 10 when Brady won his first Super Bowl and 14 when he won his last. No worries, I understand. I was young and impressionable once too.

My posts, compared to what you've brought to this thread so far, are infinitely more heavy than yours. I've brought out objective proof and you've brought out your opinion.

Yes, let's pretend Tom didn't get to the AFC Championship game and go toe to toe with Peyton Manning ... with Reche Caldwell his #1 receiver. Reche Caldwell. Reche. Caldwell. No receiver over 800 yards that year.

And if Reche doesn't drop a pass in the end zone Peyton Manning might still be ringless

Did you look at the year Peyton won the super bowl?

70 against KC. 39.6 QBR against Baltimore. 70 for the whole playoffs. 3 TDs, 7 INTs.

Without his defense Peyton is still ringless.

Again, you're comparing apples to oranges. The Patriots, not Brady alone, won three championships. Now, if you were to ask Dan and his mother, "What teams would you have rather played on, the 2000 Patriots or the 1984 Dolphins" I'm sure both would answer Patriots.

You weren't comparing career numbers. With the .8 INT% you were talking strictly about Brady's 11th season in the league.

I too would have rather seen Dan with 3 rings than all those records. I'm sure he would too. However, that has nothing to do with the fact that Dan was a far superior QB than Brady. There is NOTHING that Brady does better, as a QB, than Dan.

There's a lot of aqua and orange colored glasses go around. Why is it that we feel the need to bring down other players just to rise up our own? Honestly, it's a bit overblown.

I just don't know how you can sit there and watch Dolphins games year after year and say "Yeah Brady what an overrated thrower. Doesn't throw tight spirals or accurate deep passes" after we've seen him tear up our own team again and again.

I'm with Unified on this one.

All you Brady lovers can go join the Patriots forum. You people make me sick, with your Tom Brady love fest. You line up Brady next to Elway & Marino and have them throw a football. Mr Tom Bündchen, will soon be taking a seat next to the waterboy. By the way you F'n ill informed Tom Bündchen lovers, the only F'n reason, Marino records was broken was because of the new pass happy rules the NFL passed. [how many QB's tossed over 40+ TD's that year] The next crap I will read on this F'n forum is that Bill Belichick a better coach then Don Shula. Excuse me I need to go vomit after reading this crap on this forum!

You're cherry picking a few seasons. Look at their entire post season careers. Manning's in better. Sure, Brady had the better teams, but Manning has been the superior QB.

If you want to look at Manning against the Ravens defense, compare Brady's numbers against Baltimore in the playoffs.

    Brady has put up a QBR under 90 14 times and won 9. That's 9 out of 14. 64%

Manning has put up a QBR under 90 12 times and won 5 times. 40%

Peyton won his ring with the 23rd ranked defense. Brady won his 3 with the 1st, 2nd,, and 5th ranked defense. Who needed their defense more?

I see your problem. You don't understand what's going on. I've clearly written that Brady is a HoF QB. What I was saying, in my original post and what I've backed up with cold, hard, facts, is that Brady is not a good down the field passer. He's not. Never has been.

You, however, are assuming that I think Brady is a horrible QB because of this. I don't.

Singling out? LOL! So not only are you the guy who decides how much something weighs you're also the bouncer? lol...When/IF I break forum rules I'm sure a mod will let me know. Are you a mod? No? OK. Bye. ;)

    Again, you failed to comprehend...well....anything.

Brady is great. Where have I written otherwise. I've already said that IMO, Brady is on my top 10-15 All Time great list of QB's. Someone said that he was a good deep passing QB. He's not. I showed irrefutable proof of that fact.

I was at that game too, it was so disappointing! I was trying to find a youtube clip of that play to post here, but could not find it. Belichick celebrated like they had won the super bowl that game, throwing his headset into the air and actually showing emotion. It was one of my worst trips to SoFla and my Pats buddy that went with me still talks about it. He was shocked at how excited Belichick and the team got too.

    Who's better?

Manning is as precise as I've ever seen, Brady is a gamer and stone cold in the clutch...Dan Marino was a gunslinger who could beat you by himself. Elway was on Marino's level, but sorry I'm not putting him above Dan because he had a top 5 defense and a 2k RB before he won a title.

People perceive "best QB" many different ways. But too me there has never been a better passer than 13.

No I'm not. I'm not cherry picking bits and pieces or partial seasons. The playoffs, like it or not, are earned due to regular season actions. That year Manning had 4500 yds passing, 31 TD's, 9 INT's with a 102 QBR. Their defense gave up 360 points (23 PPG) which ranked them 23rd. Despite that, Manning CARRIED them into the playoffs. If the defense stepped it up once they got there, good, Manning deserved a little help for once.

Brady has played with a defense ranked in the bottom half of the league 3 times out of 11 playing seasons. The Pats failed to make the playoffs 2 out of those 3 times. 33% success rate

Manning played with a defense that ranked in the lower half of the league 8 times out of 13 playing seasons. He failed to make the playoffs 2 out of those 8 times. 75% success rate

Brady, if he had to play on those Dolphins teams, wouldn't have lasted long. That doesn't mean he's not a great QB in today's game and while playing for the Patriots.

I don't think you're taking crazy pills or getting trolled. I do, however, think you need to better understand what you're reading before you comment.

No I'm pretty close to hating him. Nothing against him personally. But I don't like USC and hate the Jets. He'd have to come here and win 2 superbowls before I'd change my mind.

Maybe, but I don't think so. Cassel, who hadn't started a game since high school, came in, on the spur of the moment, and won 11 games. His season ended up something lie 3500 yds passing, 25 TD's 13 INT's. Up to that point, Brady's average season numbers were...yep...around 3500 yds, 25 TD's and 12 INT's. This, to me at least, proves that any descent, smart QB can excel in that system.

Peyton was so frustrated by the Patriots year in year out, one year he threw his "protection" under the bus, his offensive line.

The next year he cried about the Patriots so they changed the rule.

Everyone talks about the rule changes from Dan's time until today. How the rules are different for DBs. But nobody discusses why it was changed. It was Peyton Manning crying after a playoff defeat that led to the NFL, that offseason, changing/enforcing the 5 yard contact rule and fundamentally changing the game.

For that reason alone I will never place Peyton #1. Too much of a whiner, and a big loser in a big game. I have zero confidence in the guy when it comes to crunch time.

When he stood in front of the Patriots in 2007 and had a chance to beat them in one last possession, to stop their perfect season, I said, no way he does it. And he didn't. Guy's terrible when it's crunch time.

Contrast to Brady. In the 4th Q, and the Giants scoring a TD, who here didn't think, in the bottom of their heart of hearts, that Brady was going to march down the field and score? Even though he was harassed all game, for some reason, withminutes left, I thought to myself, crap, this fool is going to score. And he does.

Peyton has heart, but he doesn't have that killer heart. Never did. That dagger that rises to the occasion with the whole world on his shoulders and goes straight into the heart.

Manning doesn't have it. Montana. Ben for a couple years. Brady. But not Peyton. Nobody is afraid of Peyton with the ball in his hands.

You say that Manning was terrific post-season QB and then follow it up with Manning sucks in the playoffs?

You don't know what you're talking about. I've shown here...right here in this thread...that Manning doesn't suck in the post season. In fact, his numbers are better.

And no, in typical Peyton fashion, his defense let him down this year when they couldn't cover a hail mary pass.

Sure. If I were a Pats fan and Marino had passed for 145 yds w/ 1 TD while his kicker made the 48 yrd game winning FG with that same kicker accounting for 9 points total and the defense scoring as many points as Marino I'm sure I'd be tooting his horn like you.
