Phil is actually a decent player. Fluker stinks... if he was playing somewhere other then alabama no one would know who he is.. or care for that matter.
Oh well. There are some guys still out there in FA (most notably, or only notably, Andre Smith) and in the draft. If there was interest from either side and he was determined to be a fit, he'd probably be here.
That's a shame, because I think he would have been a great fit here. But if you want to much moolah that is what happens. Did anyone catch Rosenhaus on Joe Rose this morning ? He came close to calling late FA this year collusion between the teams to drive down the cost of the 2nd tier guys, that's why he claims there have been so few signings over the last week or so.
I don't doubt it. First it was restricted draft pick viable tenders that have virtually disappeared. Now with teams having better cap room more then ever............they are getting more frugal. I've never seen a more patient free agency. If it weren't for the fact Miami has been the big spenders........we'd notice it more to.
I have given up trying to play front office. They know what they want to do and that is not much different for those of us who work in public or private jobs where we don't direct at the top. We often find out long after the fact about what leadership wants to do or what direction they are going in. I know the Dolphins have an idea or plan to implement, or at least I hope so.
He said something to the effect of, "playing in Miami isn't the end all be all". Which obviously means now that he met with the team, he hates Ireland in general, doesn't want to conform to Philbin's insanely strict boy scout rules, thinks Sherman's offense is a joke and hates the new logo because it looks like a whale that hates tradition.
Fluker in 2012 allowed four sacks, in 267 pass attempts . I think 3 of them came all in one game. So other than that he did ok. He may not be great in pass pro, but he's not horrible either.
I may be wrong, but I thought I saw that quote much earlier in this process ... something along the lines of "I'd like to play for Miami, but I don't have to." I'll see if I can find it.
You may have, I got it from an article today: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/dolphins-blog/sfl-eric-winston-likes-dolphins-but-is-looking-for-the-right-fit-20130328,0,5677586.story
A sports article I read earlier said that Winston wanted a long term deal in excess of $5 million per year and Miami wouldnt consider it.
Well with Rosenhaus as his agent we know Miami will be given the opportunity to counter any other offer.
Drew is blowing smoke up Irelands rear end with this false news. Rosenhaus is one obnoxious person. All he is trying to do is make Ireland pull the trigger with the notion that Winston would not be available and then we would be FORCED to use a draft pick. Big deal. There are younger people in the draft that are just as good as Winston. Would still like to know why the guy has been released so much if he is so good and why, if he is so good, no other teams have brought him in for a visit. Rosenhaus is trying to get as much for his client as he can because he knowis if Winston is still there on draft day his price will go down considerably. Nice try Drew, now please go haunt another house.
Funny how? Like he's a clown? Like he's there to amuse you? :terrible Pesci impersonation: I can't find the humor in it at all.
According to Salguero, Winston claimed that he's looking for a longer-term deal worth 3-4 million a year.
So what you are saying, is Drew is doing his job? Imagine that. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Three years, nine million? Doesnt sound terrible at all. Especially if only a portion of it is guaranteed.
I think they might have some sort of 'wink, wink' deal with Winston...and he's trying to better that before the draft... Irish is just holding his own until after the draft.
