I'm 28 years old. Eat pretty well most of the time and go to the gym quite a bit. Lately after I eat I'm experiencing constant pain just below my sternum. Is this just heart burn or do I have a bigger problem?

How long does it last? Does it feel like a burning pain or a dull ache ?

    Lacking lots of information here.

What types of workouts are you doing?

Does it hurt after working a particular muscle group?

Do you have any history of acid reflux?

Are you drinking NO2 or anything comparable prior to workout.

Are you drinking or taking anything post workout like Creatine, Glutamine or the like? Are you adding any particular fruit in your mix if you are? This would go back to the Acid Reflux question.....

    Both good questions.

From the symptoms you have described so far it sounds like it may be your gallbladder. Does it happen or get worse when eating greasy foods, high fat foods, or a particular food?

And how long does it last? 30mins, an hour, several hours?

I know when I had gallstones and gallbladder trouble that greasy foods would set it off and it would last for several hours (a dull ache that got increasingly worse). However I just had two attacks before having to have my gallbladder removed. From other people I know, who have had gallbladder issues, they stated it would happen after eating, would be a dull ache, and last 30mins to an hour. Except they had several bouts because they pain started off basically like indigestion and over time steadily got worse until the gallbladder had to be removed.

Mine also hurt right below the sternum although when I was in the hospital the doctors thought that the pain should have been coming from my side below the sternum (right side I believe, but I was partially sedated at the time so some of the details are fuzzy).

Like AZ said as well, the doctor's also suspected acid reflux for me. So it could be a variety of things but just putting in my two cents. Hopefully it offered something of worth.

It's just below my sternum and off to my left a little... In the area of my gall bladder. It is a dull constant pain that sometimes last for hours at a time.

Az I do mostly free weight work outs with cardio before and after. I take protein and a pre workout booster called c4 extreme. Post workout I take another scoop of protein and sometimes muscle pharms recovery drink called recon. It doesn't hurt after or during working out it is mostly happening after a meal. I'm actually at the doctor office now so let's hope it's not my gallbladder.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

Gallbladder is to your right. It's probably that based off the feeling coming after meals. If that is true, surgery is a piece of cake.
